Step 1: Syncing Your Library After installing One Drive for Business, you will be prompted to Sync a library. NEXT: Select the Library URL For this, we want to choose the URL that connects to your Office 365 account. To get to that site, open Internet Explorer and browse to: Login.microsoftonline.com NEXT: Sign in with your account credentials (your and password). Once logged in, click the Square in the upper left hand corner of the page. Then choose the OneDrive option. NEXT: Once the OneDrive directory opens to the page, you will need to copy the URL from the address bar in the browser. To do so, click anywhere in the Address bar and it will highlight the URL. Once highlighted, use the Ctrl-C option with your keyboard to copy.
NEXT: Paste that copied URL into the Library sync window. Then click Sync Now. NEXT: Once you click the Sync Now button on that page, it will ask you to sign in. You should use your Social Impact address for this. Click the Next button once complete.
NEXT: Then you will be asked for your password. Enter this and click Sign in with the check box selected for Keep Me Signed In. Final Step: Signing in will begin syncing your files with the local C drive directory from OneDrive. Click Show my Files at the bottom to open the folder location.
Accessing OneDrive: This is the location for your OneDrive files. It should be listed as OneDrive for Business on the left hand side of the menu. STEP 2: Adding Files You can add files to this location also at other times simply by right-clicking on the icon in the bottom right hand side of your screen, by the time display. Once the folder is open in Windows Explorer, you can drag and drop, copy or cut files into this location. We recommend making a new folder in this One Drive for Business location called Documents. Once you move files this folder, they will begin synchronizing directly with the website. To include your local Documents folder to be synced, you must add your documents to the OneDrive folder manually by CUTTING them from your regular Documents folder. NOTE: It will take some time to synchronize all of your files, and you may have to log out and back in to login.microsoftonline.com to view the files that are synced. IMPORTANT: If you copy files to this location, you are making a copy of that file, rather than moving the original. This means if you make changes to the file in your Documents folder, it will not synchronize the changes in OneDrive. The only way changes are synced to OneDrive is by editing the files in the One Drive for Business folder.
Saving files to OneDrive from your desktop When you re using a desktop app like Microsoft Office Word or Paint, you can save those files directly to OneDrive. To do so, click SAVE AS, and select OneDrive from the menu on the left. Saving Documents to OneDrive Automatically in Windows 8 or 8.1: If you are running Windows 8 or 8.1, you can set up your PC to automatically save all Microsoft Office files, PDF s and other documents to OneDrive. For most PC s running Windows 8.1, OneDrive is already set as the default location when you save documents. To set the default to OneDrive, go to your PC settings: 1. Go to Settings > Change PC Settings (you can access this by clicking or swiping the bottom right corner or right edge of the screen) 2. For documents, tap or click OneDrive and then turn on Save Documents to OneDrive by Default Getting to your files from anywhere When your files are in OneDrive, you can get to them from any device. You can sign in on the OneDrive website, or you can download and use one of the mobile apps for Android, ios, or Windows Phone.
One Drive Website: Apple ios OneDrive sign in: Onedrive.live.com Sharing Files using the OneDrive app: Step 1: Select the folders or files you would like to share (you can do this 1 of 2 ways right click or swipe down on the file or folder to bring up the Share option, or open the file or folder and then select Share from the top menu. Step 2: Tap or Click SHARE and then select Invite People to share. Note: A Menu Controls permissions-- can the targeted users edit or only view the document?
Step 3: From there, enter the addresses of the contacts that you are sharing the file or folder with. If entering multiple contacts, separate them with a comma. You can also add a note with details about the file or your specific request. Click the SHARE button to complete. Get a Link Sharing: You can also choose the Get a Link option to share with a large number of people, or to post something to a social media account like Facebook, LI or Twitter. (When you use the Get a Link option, you have less control over the individual permissions than when you use the Invite People option.) After you choose the type of link you want (View only, Edit, Public) Click CREATE LINK. This copies the link to your clipboard and from there you can paste and share. This is a good way to share documents by without sending attachments. Working Offline with OneDrive In Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1, you can browse all your files in OneDrive even when you're not connected to the Internet. If you also want to open and edit files when you don't have an Internet connection, you need to make those files available offline. Doing so downloads the file contents to your PC, and keeps the file linked with OneDrive online storage so that any changes you make from any device automatically appear everywhere when you reconnect to the Internet. You can use the OneDrive app or File Explorer to make files available offline. Making files available offline using the OneDrive app: Swipe down or right-click the file or folder to select it, and then tap or click Make offline. If you're worried about using too much space on your PC, make fewer files available offline, or if there are files you don t need to use when you re offline anymore, change them back to online-only. If space on your PC isn't a concern, you can also make your entire OneDrive available offline: 1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Settings. (If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Settings.) 2. Tap or click Options, and then turn on Access all files offline.
Making files available offline using File Explorer: Press and hold or right-click the file, and then choose Make available offline. To make your entire OneDrive available offline, press and hold or right-click OneDrive in the left pane, and then choose Make available offline. Understanding Online-only Files: Online-only files, also called smart files, are found only in Windows 8.1 or Windows RT 8.1. These are files that were created in OneDrive or on another PC and then saved to OneDrive. The file contents are therefore only in OneDrive so that they don t take up space on your PC. When you are connected to the Internet and open only-only files from File Explorer and most apps, the contents are downloaded automatically. But if you are not connected to the Internet, you will not be able to open or edit the full file only to browse a thumbnail. In order to give yourself full access to any online-only files, you need to make the file available offline while you are still connected to the Internet. Follow the steps above to Make Offline. Check which files are available offline: You can see at a glance which files are available offline in both the OneDrive app and File Explorer. In the OneDrive app, files and folders that are available offline have an icon with a PC and cloud ( ) in the lower-right corner. In File Explorer, the Availability column shows either Available offline or Onlineonly." OneDrive FAQ s: Do I have to sign in to my PC with a Microsoft account to use OneDrive? Yes, you need to sign in with a Microsoft account to browse to OneDrive and keep your files and settings in sync. If you sign in with a local account, you can only use the OneDrive app to browse your PC. To browse your OneDrive files, you ll need to go to the OneDrive website (onedrive.live.com) Can I recover OneDrive files that I deleted? Yes to do so, check the Recycle Bin on your desktop, or go to the OneDrive website and tap or click the Recycle Bin link in the lower-left corner. Are there any files I can t save to OneDrive? Individual files cannot be more than 10 GB in size. Some kinds of content are also prohibited.
