Introduction To print visitor labels there are two steps you must take. 1. The first is to activate Visitor Label Printing in your WhosOnLocation account. This takes only a minute. In the Helpdesk refer to How to Activate Visitor Label Printing. 2. The second is ensuring the Dymo printer you will use has the right settings enabled in the actual printer software and the Browser you are using on the Kiosk has the right Page settings. This paper addresses Step 2, and assumes you have completed Step 1. Installing your Dymo Your Dymo 450 (SKU: ) will come with its own software and install guide book. Follow the instructions on: Page 3 of the Guide titled 2: Installing the Software and Page 4 titled 3: Connecting your LabelWriter Printer. The latest version of this software is Dymo 8 which is designed to run with Windows and MAC. If for some reason your CD is out of date with your operating system you can download the Dymo 450 Driver at Once you have installed and registered your Dymo 450 you will see the Dymo icon on your desktop. 3 P a g e
Dymo Basic Settings Setting up your Dymo 450 to print visitor labels only takes about 10 minutes and should only need to be done once. In order for WhosOnLocation to print visitor labels to your Dymo 450 printer we need to complete 5 steps to complete the setup. 1. Setup the Basic Dymo Settings to print the correct size label 2. Setup Label Size in Dymo a. There are 3 Label sizes supported by WhosOnLocation: i. Small (Dymo Label Code 99010) 89mm x 28mm ii. Medium (Dymo Label Code 99015) 70mm x 54mm iii. Large (Dymo Label Code 99014) 101mm x 54mm This Guide looks at how to setup the Medium Label Make sure you have the correct Dymo Labels on-hand based on the label size you selected in your WhosOnLocation Account in Printing Options. In this guide we show the settings for each Label option. 3. Setup Dymo Print Preferences to print labels in the correct aspect (Landscape) and to be the default printer if you are setting it up to run in Unattended Mode on this PC or laptop. 4. Setup WhosOnLocation as a Trusted Site to allow visitor data to pass between the PC or Laptop, the WhosOnLocation web site, and your Dymo Printer. 5. Setup Internet Explorer Printing options to match those in the Dymo Software. When going through the setup options, you will only have to do this once. Your PC or Laptop should remember the settings each time you login. Continued overleaf 4 P a g e
1. Click on the Dymo icon on your desktop to Open. The Dymo Software window will open as per below: 2. We recommend you set the Dymo Software Preferences to Metric. Select Edit from the toolbar at the top of the window 3. Select the General tab from the toolbar and then make sure Metric is selected and click OK 5 P a g e
Setting Up the Label Type The Medium Label 70mm 54mm Dymo Label Code Under Label Types the default view will Show All Label Types. 1. Select Multipurpose Labels. 2. The Label Types presented in the left side frame will now be limited to the Multipurpose Labels. 3. Click on the label called Large 54mm x 70mm 6 P a g e
4. You will then be presented with a range of pre-formatted Multipurpose Label Templates. Scroll to the bottom and select the Blank one. 5. Next click the Save icon and save the label as something like Visitor Label. 7 P a g e
6. And now if we click the Save Labels option we can see our Label. Now close down the Dymo software. 8 P a g e
Setting Print Preferences 1. Go to the Start menu located in the bottom left corner of your Desktop and select Control Panel or select Devices and Printers if available. 2. The Control Panel window will appear (see below). Select Printers (or similar) 3. You will then be presented with a list of Printers setup on this PC or Laptop Kiosk. We recommend that if this is to be the Kiosk PC then all other printers should be deleted. 9 P a g e
4. Right-mouse click on the Dymo 450 and select Set as Default Printer. Make sure the Orientation is set to Landscape. The Page Order is set to Front to Back Pages per Sheet is 1 Click on the Paper/Quality Tab and set to Normal; then come back to the Layout Tab. Go to your Login URL which is either: a. North American Server users is: b. Australasian Server users is: c. Your Administrator can confirm the correct URL login. 4. You do not need to logon. Click on Tools in your toolbar and go to Internet Options located at the bottom of the list. 12 P a g e
5. Select the Security tab from the options at the top of this frame. 6. Next select the Trusted Sites green tick and 7. Then click on the Sites button You will now see the Trusted Sites setup window. 8. Type in the URL address for the login page which is either:. 9. North American Server users is: Australasian Server users is: Then click the Add button. This will move the web address into the large white web sites window making our site a trusted site. 12. Make sure the tick box that says Require server verification (https) for all sites in this zone is clear and then click Close. 13 P a g e
13. Next click on the Custom Level button (circled in red below) You must allow WhosOnLocation to send data back and forth between our web server and the PC or laptop Kiosk and the printer. This scroll bar will take you through all of the Security Settings currently setup. What we need to do is Enable all of the ActiveX controls. Enabling these controls will only apply to the Trusted Sites setup. So move the scroll bar down until you get to ActiveX controls and plugins. See next page >> 14 P a g e
As you move your scroll tab down you will come to the ActiveX controls and plug-ins. 14. Simply select Enable on all ActiveX controls as you move down the ActiveX controls list. 15. Having Enabled all ActiveX controls click OK. You will now be back at the Internet Options window. Select the last tab in the top right called Advanced. Again use the scroll bar (circled in red) to move down to an option called Print background colours and images and make sure it is ticked. Now click OK 15 P a g e
Configure Internet Explorer Page Settings 1. From the top left corner of your browser toolbar select File 2. Then Page Setup 16 P a g e
The following File Page Settings should be set 1. Make sure the Page Size is: a Diskette if using the Medium Label 2. Headers and Footers should be set to Empty- 3. Set Orientation to Landscape 4. Now close down Internet Explorer and reopen it. Then logon using your Kiosk Username and Password, select YES to Printing Labels, click Enter Kiosk and check a test visitor in and Print your First Label. If there are any issues re-check all Steps. 17 P a g e
Trouble Shooting and Support The most common reasons why your label will not print is because one of the steps in this guide was not completed correctly. Other reasons include: The Printer is not plugged in The USB connection from the Printer to the PC or Laptop is not connected. The paper is jammed in the printer or not aligned correctly. If you need any assistance with setting up your Dymo please call us on freecall or us at 18 P a g e
