5 Abut File Share Navigatr Online File Share Navigatr Online enables SharePint Online sites t hst links t a strage lcatin, thereby empwering rganizatins t leverage SharePint Online as the presentatin layer fr the strage lcatin withut using valuable strage space. This als helps t avid the burden f migratin. With File Share Navigatr Online, SharePint Online users can either access cntent n the strage lcatin fr real-time cllabratin, r externally access cntent via SharePint Online, withut disrupting the perfrmance and wrk habits f internal strage lcatin users. In additin, File Share Navigatr Online frees SharePint Online frm heavy lad and capacity limitatins caused by directly string large files. With the implementatin f File Share Navigatr Online, SharePint Online preserves and synchrnizes the data t the strage lcatin, s all f the strage lcatin data is accessible thrugh SharePint as well as directly frm the strage lcatin. 12 Preparing fr Installatin Befre yu install File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service, yu must assign a public URL and apply fr a certificate fr the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service website. Refer t Assigning a Public URL t the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service Website and Applying fr a Certificate fr the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service Website fr detailed infrmatin. In additin, AvePint strngly recmmends that yu build a File Share Navigatr Online failver and lad balancing system. Refer t File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Failver and File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Lad Balancing fr detailed infrmatin. Assigning a Public URL t the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service Website Assign a public URL that will be mapped t the internal File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service website. The public URL fr the service website is used t cmmunicate with SharePint Online and AvePint Online Services, which are in Micrsft Azure. Make sure that the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service website is accessible t the Internet thrugh this public URL. Applying fr a Certificate fr the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service Website Apply fr a certificate fr the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service website frm the Certificate Authrity. Nte the fllwing infrmatin when applying fr the certificate: Issued T Must be the same as the hst f the public URL fr the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service website. Passwrd Must be a certificate with a passwrd. (The passwrd is required when installing File Share Navigatr Online Administratin.) File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Failver Upn failure r abnrmal terminatin f a File Share Navigatr Online active server, File Share Navigatr Online Administratin can change ver t a standby File Share Navigatr Online Administratin server. They can nly be run by the server cnfigured in its Service Cnnectin, and the uplad files, dwnlad files, create new flders, manual synchrnizatins, and ther peratins will randmly pick up an available standby server t prcess the requests. File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Lad Balancing File Share Navigatr Online Administratin lad balancing aims t ptimize resurce use, minimize respnse time, and avid verlading a single server with requests. File Share Navigatr Online Administratin lad balancing randmly distributes requests such as uplading files and creating File Share Navigatr Online lists t available File Share Navigatr Online Administratin servers. T build a File Share Navigatr Online Administratin lad balancing system: Install File Share Navigatr Online Administratin n at least tw servers. Use the same SQL database fr all f the File Share Navigatr Online Administratins. Make sure the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service is added in any f the Service Cnnectins. This enables File Share Navigatr Online Administratin t be ne f the lad balancing servers. *Nte: File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Lad Balancing des nt supprt scheduled synchrnizatin jbs. 14 Installatin Overview Prir t using File Share Navigatr Online, File Share Navigatr Online Administratin must be installed n yur servers and the File Share Navigatr Online app must be added n the chsen SharePint Online site. Click the link belw t view the crrespnding sectin. Installing File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Adding the File Share Navigatr Online App t Yur Site Installing File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Cmplete the fllwing steps t install File Share Navigatr Online Administratin: 1. Lg int AvePint Online Services and navigate t the File Share Navigatr Online interface t dwnlad the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin package. Click Tur n the tp navigatin bar t access the Tur page, click the Dwnlad link in sectin 1 t dwnlad the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin package. 2. Extract the package n the lcal server n which yu want t install File Share Navigatr Online Administratin. Duble-click the Setup.exe file in the extracted directry. The Welcme page appears. 3. Click Start t install File Share Navigatr Online Administratin. 4. Carefully review the License Agreement. After yu have read the agreement, select the I accept the terms in the license agreement checkbx. Click Next. 5. Click Brwse and select the lcatin fr the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin installatin. The default installatin lcatin is C:\Prgram Files\AvePint. Yu may install File Share Navigatin Online Administratin in anther lcatin. Click Next. 6. File Share Navigatr Online Administratin will perfrm a brief pre-scan f the envirnment t ensure that yur envirnment meets the requirements. The status fr each rule will be listed in the Status clumn. Click the link f the status t reveal mre infrmatin abut the scan results. If any rules fail the pre-scan, update yur envirnment t meet the requirements, then click Rescan t check yur envirnment again. Once all rules have passed, click Next. 7. Set up the service cnfiguratin: IIS Website Settings Cnfigure the IIS website settings fr the service. Yu can chse t use an existing IIS website. *Nte: AvePint recmmends that yu create a new IIS website fr File Share Navigatr Online. Using an existing IIS website may affect applicatins that currently use this website. 14

15 Use an existing IIS website Select an existing IIS website frm the drp-dwn list. Yu can adjust the Website Prt used t access the service if necessary. Create a new IIS website (recmmended) Enter the website name and create a new IIS website fr this service. The default Website Prt used t access this service is 18000; yu d nt need t change it unless a knwn prt cnflict exists. Website Prt Service cmmunicatin prt which is used t access the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin service, and cmmunicate with AvePint Online Services and SharePint Online. Website Certificate Enter the website certificate used t verify the site s validity and the certificate s passwrd. Refer t Applying fr a Certificate fr the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service Website fr details abut the certificate s requirements. Applicatin Pl Settings Cnfigure the IIS applicatin pl settings fr the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service website yu are creating. The applicatin pl prcesses all f the requests sent t the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service website, such as requests fr deleting a scheduled jb accunt, cnfiguring a prxy, r creating a File Share Navigatr Online list. Yu can use an existing applicatin pl r create a new ne. *Nte: AvePint recmmends that yu create a new IIS applicatin pl. Using an existing IIS applicatin pl may affect the features f the applicatins that currently use this applicatin pl. Use an existing applicatin pl Select an existing applicatin pl frm the drp-dwn list. If using an existing applicatin pl, the Applicatin Pl Accunt settings are greyed ut and cannt be changed. Create a new applicatin pl (recmmended) Enter the applicatin pl name and applicatin pl accunt settings t create a new IIS applicatin pl fr the website. *Nte: The applicatin pl accunt requires Read and Write permissins t the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin installatin directry, and Read permissin t the Registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Micrsft\Windws\CurrentVersin\ Uninstall\AvePint File Share Navigatr Online Administratin). Click Next t cntinue. 8. Enter the public URL f the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service website. Make sure the hst and the service websites share the same website certificate. Refer t Assigning a Public URL t the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Service Website fr mre infrmatin Click Next t cntinue. 15

16 9. File Share Navigatr Online Administratin nly supprts MS SQL databases. Cnfigure the fllwing settings fr the database: a. Database Server The MS SQL Server name. b. Database Name Enter a database name fr the service. If the database des nt exist, it will be autmatically created in the cnfigured MS SQL Server entered abve. *Nte: File Share Navigatr Online requires an existing database fr SQL Azure servers. c. Database Credentials Select the credentials fr the database. Click Next t cntinue. Windws Authenticatin (the default ptin) Use this methd if yu want the user s identity t be cnfirmed by Windws. This accunt must have either the dbcreatr server rle in the SQL Server that will cntain the new database r the db_wner database rle in the existing database. SQL Authenticatin SQL Server will cnfirm the user s identity accrding t the user s accunt and passwrd. The accunt must have the fllwing permissins: db_wner database rle in the existing database r dbcreatr server rle in the SQL Server that will cntain the database. 10. The installatin summary displays all f the previus cnfiguratins. Click Install t prceed with the installatin, r click Back t change any f the previus settings. Click Cancel t abandn all cnfiguratins and exit the installatin wizard. 11. The installatin prcess displays n the prgress bar n the Installing page. 12. Once the installatin is cmplete, yu can either select Run File Share Navigatr Online Administratin after finishing the wizard t immediately lg int File Share Navigatr Online Administratin, r click Finish t cmplete the installatin and exit the wizard. 16

17 Adding the File Share Navigatr Online App t Yur Site Lg int AvePint Online Services and navigate t the File Share Navigatr Online interface t dwnlad the File Share Navigatr Online App file. On the File Share Navigatr Online interface,, click Tur n the tp navigatin bar t access the Tur page, and click the Dwnlad link in the sectin 3 t dwnlad the File Share Navigatr Online App file, and then refer t the fllwing steps t add the File Share Navigatr Online App t yur site: 1. Create an App Catalg Site with the File Share Navigatr Online App added t it. a. Click Admin > SharePint t g t the SharePint admin center in SharePint Online. b. Click apps n the left pane f the SharePint admin center. The apps page appears. c. Click App Catalg. The App Catalg Site page appears. Then select Create a new App Catalg Site Cllectin and click OK. d. On the Create a New App Catalg Site Cllectin page, enter the basic site cllectin infrmatin and click OK. A new App Catalg Site Cllectin is created. e. Access this App Catalg Site and click Apps fr SharePint n the left pane f the Apps fr SharePint page. f. Click New t uplad the File Share Navigatr Online App. The File Share Navigatr Online App is nw upladed t the created App Catalg Site. 2. Add the File Share Navigatr Online App int a SharePint Online Site. a. G t the SharePint Online site n which yu want t add the File Share Navigatr Online App. b. Click the Settings ( ) buttn n the upper-right crner f the site page and select Site Cntents frm the drp-dwn menu. The Site Cntents page appears. c. Click add an app. The Yur Apps page appears. Click Frm Yur Organizatin n the left pane f the page. d. Click File Share Navigatr Online App and then click the Trust It buttn. The File Share Navigatr Online App is nw added t yur SharePint Online site. 17

18 Updating File Share Navigatr Online A File Share Navigatr Online update cnsists f tw parts: Updating File Share Navigatr Online Administratin, and Updating File Share Navigatr Online List Settings. *Nte: Make sure there are n synchrnizatin jbs running during the File Share Navigatr Online update. Updating File Share Navigatr Online Administratin T cmplete the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin update, fllw the steps belw: *Nte: If yur envirnment is a File Share Navigatr Online Administratin lad balancing system, yu must update File Share Navigatr Online Administratin n all f the servers where it is installed. 1. Lg int AvePint Online Services and navigate t the File Share Navigatr Online interface t dwnlad the latest versin f the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin package. Click Tur n the tp navigatin bar t access the Tur page, click the Dwnlad link in sectin 1 t dwnlad the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin package. 2. Extract the package n the lcal server where yu installed File Share Navigatr Online Administratin. Duble-click the Setup.exe file in the extracted directry. An update cnfirmatin prmpt appears, click Yes t access the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin Update Wizard. 3. Click Update t update File Share Navigatr Online Administratin. 4. The update prcess displays via the prgress bar n the Updating page. 5. Once the installatin is cmplete, yu can either select Run File Share Navigatr Online Administratin after finishing the wizard t immediately lg int File Share Navigatr Online Administratin, r click Finish t cmplete the installatin and exit the wizard. Updating File Share Navigatr Online List Settings After updating File Share Navigatr Online Administratin, yu must run the Cnnectr.Lite.Online.Ts.exe file t update lists, settings, and data created in a previus versin t ensure the ld data runs prperly after the update. Cmplete the steps belw t run the tl: 1. G t any f the servers in yur envirnment where File Share Navigatr Online Administratin was installed. 2. Open the Cmmand prmpt with Run as administratin. 3. In the Cmmand prmpt interface, enter the fllwing cmmand t access the tl directry. cd "C:\Prgram Files\AvePint\File Share Navigatr Online Administratin\bin" *Nte: Use the actual full path where the tl resides in this cmmand. 18

19 4. Enter the fllwing cmmand t view the help infrmatin f this tl. If yu are already an experienced user f this tl, skip this step. Cnnectr.Lite.Online.Tls.exe help If yu want t view the help infrmatin f a certain peratin, use the fllwing cmmand: Cnnectr.Lite.Online.Tls.exe help [<peratin>] 5. Enter the fllwing cmmand t execute the update peratin. Click the File Share Navigatr Online Administratin shrtcut t access it, r navigate t Start > All Prgrams > File Share Navigatr Online Administratin, and click File Share Navigatr Online Administratin. Enter the username and crrespnding passwrd in the text bxes, and click Add t add a scheduled jb accunt. The cnfigured scheduled jb accunt will be displayed under the text bx. Yu can click t delete the added scheduled jb accunt. AvePint recmmends yu cnfigure multiple accunts fr each site s that File Share Navigatr Online can allcate the accunts t run the scheduled synchrnizatin jbs randmly, which will prevent the Micrsft Runtime Errr 429 issue and the Micrsft 503 Service Unavailable issue. *Nte: The site will inherit its tp-level site s scheduled jb accunt if this site has nt been cnfigured as a unique scheduled jb accunt. If the tp-level site has multiple levels f sites, each level s site still inherits the tp-level site s scheduled jb accunt instead f its parent site s scheduled jb accunt. 5. Managing Mappings Mapping Manager allws administratrs t map permissins, users, and dmains in a file system with the permissins, users, and dmains in SharePint Online by defining Dmain Mapping, User Mapping, and Permissin Mapping. Dmain Mapping When there are users with the same name but different dmains in the file system and SharePint Online, yu can map a file system dmain name t a SharePint Online dmain name by using a dmain mapping. During the synchrnizatin jb, File Share Navigatr Online will replace the file system dmain name with the dmain name in SharePint Online. User Mapping User mapping maps an existing username in a file system t an existing username in SharePint Online. Fr example, yu can use a user mapping if a user has a different username in Dmain A than in Dmain B, r if yu want t synchrnize an individual user s cntent, permissins, and metadata in Dmain A with anther user in Dmain B. File Share Navigatr Online will replace the file system username with the specified SharePint Online username during a synchrnizatin jb. In this way, the file system username s cntent, permissins, and metadata will nt be lst and the SharePint username t which the file system username is mapped will wn the cntent, permissins, and metadata. Permissin Settings By default, a list inherits permissins frm its parent site. If yu select this ptin, the list permissins inherited frm the parent site are brken.
