3 OVERVIEW Safety E This unit must always be cnnected t pwer thrugh a 3 pin cnnectr with the pin cnnected t electrical grund. It is nly suitable fr AC supplies between 100V and 250V. The unit must nt be perated with the case remved. Intrductin The Crtex 3 AXIS Stage Cntrller is cntrlled by the prgram supplied with the unit r via RS232 serial cmmunicatins frm a PC. This will install all necessary files int the relevant directries n yur cmputer. 3) Run then Scandrive Prgram. If all cnnectins are crrect n the 3 AXIS STAGE CONTROLLER, the start-up screen will be displayed as belw. 5 Figure 3 Click the N ptin then yu will see the fllwing windws message bx appear shwn belw. (Figure 4.). Figure 4 Check that the mtrs are plugged int the crrect cnnectrs. Check that the serial cables are cnnected t unused cmms prts (We suggest yur use COM1 & COM2 but if these are nt available then yu shuld use ther prts, i.e. COM3 & COM4. If these d nt exist yu will have t buy new hardware.) n the PC and that the unit is switched n, if s click Yes in the message bx and then cnfigure the cmm prts as fllws in the figure Crtex Cntrllers Ltd. 6 Figure 5 Apply the ptins selected in figure 5 then clse the prgram, switch n the 3 Axis Stage Cntrller system if nt already n and run the Scandrive prgram again. This shuld have slved the prblem. 7 Operatin When the System pwer up all three axes will drive t there psitive limits when reached they will drive t the negative limits. This negative limit is made zer datum. 8 Mving The Stage This Stage can be psitined in tw ways: 1) Manually: Click the Enable Manual buttn. The click the muse in the X-Y psitin Stage Display bx. The status display bx will shw Click again t mve t (X, Y, Z) mm. Where (X, Y) crrespnd t where yu clicked the muse in the X, Y Stage Display Bx. If yu click again the mve is made and yu will see the stage psitin update. Similarly, click in the Z Stage Display Bx t specify a Z mve and click again t perfrm it. 2) By typing in a Target: Click Append New Target buttn. Type in the psitin yu want the stage t mve t in the current Target Psitin Frame bx. Then click Cnfirm Edit buttn and then Mve T Current Target buttn. Figure Crtex Cntrllers Ltd. 9 String Targets Yu can make as many Scan sequences as yu want just by repeating the previus peratin. T save all this Targets as a whle jb simply click n File then Save Targets As and it will save the infrmatin as a text file in the subflder f the Scandrive prgram directry, e.g.; C:\Prgram Files\Scandrive\psdatum.txt. Which this yu can run at any time in future by clicking File then Open Targets and then selecting the jb file needed. Scanning The Stred Targets Click n the Start Scan buttn t begin scanning the stred Targets. The prgram will wait at each Target Psitin accrding t the value entered int the Default Scan Aut Pause bx. Click Optin n main menu bar then Scan Cntrl (see Figure 8.) The scan will begin at Target Psitin 1 and cntinue t the last stred Target. Click n the Pause Scan buttn t pause the scan rutine. Clicking the Resume Scan buttn has tw functins. Firstly, if the Pause Scan buttn has been pressed, then clicking Resume Scan will resume the scan frm the pint at which it was paused. Secndly, if the Pause Scan has nt been pressed, then clicking Resume Scan will mve t the next target immediately. Click n the Abrt Scan buttn t stp the scan rutine. During the scan prcedure, infrmatin n the scan status is displayed in the Status Display Bx (see Figure 6.) Crtex Cntrllers Ltd. S657 Manual Operatin 9

10 Cmmand Buttns Append New Target Clicking the Append New Target buttn will allw fr the first time t set target values. Insert New Target Clicking the Insert New Target buttn will allw yu t edit r enter new target values. Cnfirm Edit Clicking the Cnfirm Edit buttn will stre the X, Y and Z c-rdinates f a target, which has been typed int the X, Y and Z bxes in the Target Psitin Frame (see Figure 6.). (Please nte that as a target is stred, the title f this frame will change t shw the number f targets stred. E.g. Target Psitin # 5 f 5 ) When a target is stred a number representing this psitin is shwn n the Stage Display (see Figure 6.) abve its psitin. The Target Psitin is designated by a black dt n the Stage Display. Delete Target Clicking the Delete Target buttn will delete the target currently being displayed. When a Target is deleted, its psitin n the Stage Display (see Figure 6.) is remved and all targets stred after it will be mved up by ne number. Start Scan Clicking the Start Scan buttn starts a scan f the stred targets. The cntrller will wait at each Target Psitin accrding t the wait time. This is set by the Default Scan Aut Pause entry (see figure 7.). Pause Scan Clicking the Pause Scan buttn pauses the scan actin. (If pressed while the stage is mving, the pause will begin when the stage reaches the next target) Resume Scan Clicking the Resume Scan buttn has tw functins Crtex Cntrllers Ltd. 11 Firstly, if the Pause Scan buttn has been pressed, then clicking Resume Scan will resume the scan frm the pint at which it was paused. Secndly, if the Pause Scan has nt been pressed, then clicking Resume Scan will mve t the next target immediately. Advance Nw Clicking the Advance Nw buttn will mve t fllwing present targets set. Next Target Clicking the Next buttn will change the display t shw the next Target stred. Previus Target Clicking the Previus buttn will change the display t shw the previus stred Target. Mve t Current Target Clicking the Mve T Current Target buttn when target stred in the Target Psitin Frame will mve them t the Target displayed. 12 Menu File The File menu has the standard WINDOWS functinality. Target Psitins are stred in the PC s hard disk by the fllwing methd. Click n the File menu; click n Save Targets r Save Targets As. Enter a representative name fr the targets if nt saving as current file name. This prgram will nly recgnise files with a.txt extensin. Fr example - psdatum.txt The file stres the current Datum psitin. Target Psitins are laded frm the PC s hard disk by the fllwing methd. Click n the File menu, click n Open Targets. Select the crrect directry and file and click Open. The prgram will display all stred Target Psitins n the Stage Display (see Figure 6.), and will display the stred Datum psitin frm the file. Optins Mtin Parameters Enables yu t edit and mdify the settings fr the Mtin Cntrl; Base SPS Sets the Base Steps Per Secnd. (X, Y default 2000 Z default 1000). Maximum SPS Sets the Maximum Steps Per Secnd. (X, Y default Z default 2000). Acceleratin SPS Set the Acceleratin Steps Per Secnd Speed. (X, Y default Z default 4000). Cnstant SPS Sets the Cnstant Steps Per Secnd. (X, Y & Z default 1000). Mtr Sense Sets the Mtr Sense. (X, Y & Z default 1). Mtr Steps Per Rev Sets the Mtr steps Per Revlutins. 13 Leadsrew Pitch in mm Sets the Leadsrew Pitch in mm (X, Y & Z defaults 4). Z Mtr Current Index (0-9) Sets the Z Mtr Current. (Default 6). Z Mtr Micr- Step Index (0-63) Sets the Z mtr Micr-Step. (Default 13). Cmmunicatins Enables yu t edit and mdify the cmmunicatin settings between the 3 Axis Stage Cntrller System and yur PC X, Y Mtin Cmm Prt Select a cmm. Prt fr the X, Y Mtin. (default 9600,N,8,1) Z Mtin Cmm Prt Select a cmm. Prt fr the Z Mtin. (Must be different frm X, Y cmm selectin. (Default 9600,N,8,1) Scan Cntrl Enables yu t edit and mdify the setting f Scan Cntrl Default Scan Aut Pause (secnds) Sets the Default Scan Aut Pause timing in secnds. (Default 10 ). On Target Output Sets the psitin f Target Output Opened r Clsed (default Opened). Advance Scan n Trigger Input Enables Advance Scan n Trigger Input. (Default disabled) Trigger Cnditin Set the Trigger Cnditins t set Advance Scan n Trigger Input must be enabled. (Default Input Active). Marker Length as % f Width Sets the Market Length as % f Width. (Default 2.0). Maker Clur Sets the Marker Clur. (Default Black ). Active Marker Clur Sets the Active Marker Clur. (Default Green.)
