1 How to Use mysipa on ipad Introduction mysipa, located at is our cloud computing solution which allows you to run software remotely, without actually having that software installed on your own computer. You can use this system from any Windows or Macintosh computer as well as Apple or Android mobile devices. It is supported only on English language Operating Systems. The software will run on remote servers, but will display on your own device in such a way that you can interact with it just as though you had installed it locally. It is very easy to use since you can open and save files stored on either the mysipa Network or from your computer. SIPA students can receive assistance using mysipa by calling the HelpDesk at (212) , or use our walk-in service in IAB room 510. Citrix Receiver is a single auto-updating client that provides users with fast, secure, and easy access to hosted applications from their Apple ipad. Users can view, review, edit, and interact with full-featured Windows applications, documents, and data just like they would if they were at their PC. Session Timeout For security and ensure that a copy of the software is available when you need it, sessions will be disconnected after 15 minutes of inactivity. To prevent loss of work, save often! The system will warn you that your session is timing out which will give you time to take any action to reset the timer. If you notice that you have been disconnected from the system, logging on again within 60 minutes will restore your disconnected session and NO work will be lost. Getting Started If it is the first time you've browsed to the Web Interface, install the Citrix Receiver for ipad. 2 Once the receiver is installed, open the App to add your account and configure it. 1. On the Account Settings screen, enter the following information: The address for the Portal - Tap Next to continue with configuration first time. 3 2. Tap Save. You are ready to use the portal. Citrix Receiver displays a list of the resources you can access. 3. You can open Applications by tapping on the icons. 4 4. When finished with the Application, close it to return to the Application Menu. Saving Files on mysipa You need to learn a few tips about saving files when working on mysipa. These appear confusing at first, but most people quickly adjust. SIPA recommends saving files from mysipa to the Documents folder within your session. This data will be backed up automatically each night, but we strongly recommend backing up your own data frequently. 5 How do I properly log off the Desktop session? Log off vs. Disconnect Logging of closes your current Desktop session. Disconnect only closes your Desktop window, and allows you to connect to that session again later within 60 minutes of disconnection. To log off, tap Log off at the top of the screen. It is always a good practice to log off from the Desktop if you have completed your work. Doing this allows the system to allocate resources that you no longer need to other users. 6 Finding Your Account Settings Tap Settings. You can modify options. The Account Settings screen contains your account credentials, the address of the Citrix Portal that hosts published resources, and your authentication method. 7 Printing Print jobs sent to mysipa Network Printers will be charged to your print quota and must be released from Print Release stations. SIPA Network printers are located in room 321B, 510A Instructional Lab, 6 th floor lobby, and 6 th floor café. You can also redirect print jobs from mysipa session to a printer attached to your computer at home. To print to your SIPA Network Printer: 1. In your session application, click File Print 2. Select the corresponding printer from the printer Drop Down List and click Print 3. 8 Tips on Typing on the ipad: Use the onscreen keyboard (or hardware keyboard if present) at any time to enter or modify text. To display the keyboard, tap the keyboard icon at the center bottom of the screen (or the in-app menu). When you are finished typing, tap Done to dismiss the keyboard. NEW FEATURE FOR ipad: 3-finger tap in the application also brings up and dismisses the on-screen keyboard. On the ipad, the in-app menu is at the top-center of the window (in the app). Enter text: Tap the area of the screen where you want to place the insertion point. Tap the keyboard icon and then tap keys. Select a single item of text, such as a single word: Double-tap the item you want to select. Select multiple items of text, such as a phrase: Triple-tap the first item you want to select and then drag your finger to the end of the text. Right-click in an application: Tap and hold your finger on the screen to display the shortcut menu for the selected item. On the ipad, simply use a 2-finger tap in a quick sequence. Extended Keyboard Commands: When activated, additional buttons appear at the top of the keyboard. Swipe horizontally to scroll through the functions. 9 You can activate the following commands: Alt: Activates menus in the current application. Alt+Tab: Switches between open windows in an application. Copy: Copies the selected item. Ctrl+Alt+Del: Provides Windows Security options such as Lock Computer, Log Off, and Task Manager. Ctrl+Esc: Displays the Start menu. Cut: Cuts the selected item. Del: Deletes the selected item. End: Moves the insertion point to the end of the current line of text. Esc: Cancels the current task. F1-12: Activates keyboard shortcuts assigned to function keys in an application. For example, in Microsoft Office applications, tapping F12 displays the Save As dialog. Home: Returns the insertion point to the beginning of the current line of text. Page Down: Scrolls content upward in the current document. Page Up: Scrolls content downward in the current document. Paste: Pastes a copied or cut item at the insertion point. Refresh: Updates the current window. Save: Saves the current file. Slide Show: Starts a slide show for the current PowerPoint presentation. To advance the slide show, tap the current slide.
