Get To Know NetBrain NetBrain Solutions At-A-Glance Stand-Alone Solution Server-based Solution Architect Edition (AE) Workstation Operator Edition (OE) Workstation & Enterprise Servers AE Workstation Overview NetBrain AE is a state-of-the-art solution that brings a high level of automation to assessment and design. Network consultants can rely on Architect Edition to automate their assessments and minimize the time spent to discover and analyze customer s and then generate detailed assessment documentation. For enterprise design experts, Architect Edition is the only visual toolset that integrates design, simulation, validation and implementation in a single solution. Get Workstation AE Software Go to for AE evaluation request. Note: if your OS is Windows Vista or Windows7 and you have problem to start the Workstation, first try running NetBrain Workstation as Administrator. And if it still fails, run NetBrain in compatibility mode as XP SP. Check here for detail. Test Run over Internet Lab Download AE Internet training package from here. This package includes the following materials: The configuration files for a subset of devices in the lab. Only a subset of device configurations is included. The other devices will be discovered while setting up the workspace. The credentials and methods to access the devices in the lab. You will be asked to enter these credentials for the first project. The cached data for historical comparison. the 0

Introducing User Interface After you start the Workstation, take a few minutes to get to know AE Workstation user interface. Properties pane: properties for a selected object. the 0

. Discover Network In this project, you are going to discover the including L and L topology. The discovered devices and other data are stored in the Workspace. Network discovery includes the following steps:. Import configuration files: L topology and other underling design are discovered from imported configurations.. Define live settings: define the credentials to access the live.. Tune live access: check the reach-ability of a device and fill in the credentials for each device. 4. Discover : discover the devices from seed routers. 5. Benchmark: retrieve the live data from all devices in the workspace. 6. Discover L topology: discover L topology from the live or benchmarked data. NetBrain provides a wizard for you to easily go through the first four steps. the 0

. Import Configuration Files Import configuration files into the workspace. L topology is built from these configuration files. Click the Start button at the start page. (Click view Start Page if start page is not visible.) Click the From Folder button at Workspace Wizard window. Note: if you do not have configuration files, click the Next button to go to the next step. 4 Select the folder on the pop-up window and then click OK. Click the Next button to go to the next step of Wizard. Note: A complete list of vendors and hardware models supported can be found here. Configuration files of Cisco IOS router, IOS switch, CatOS switch, Pix/ASA firewall, Junos router, COM router/switch are supported. Configuration files need to be of original text format. Test Run over Internet Lab Save the configuration files in AE Internet training package in a folder. Import configuration files from the folder. The devices are imported into the workspace. the 04

Test Run over Internet Lab Select NY_POP as the source and bst_core as the destination, execute the traceroute command and map the results. Note: Some common issues of failed traffic path include: The workspace is not populated with all devices. Try to re-discover the via NetBrain. SNMP access from NetBrain Workstation to the relevant devices is not enabled. The path was not allowed by design. For more details and solutions, click here. the 0

.6 Map L Connectivity of a Server Farm Given an IP address of a server, discover the switch connection for the server and extend neighbors of switch to create the map for L connectivity of entire server farm. Click L Topology >> View Global One-IP able. At One-IP table, enter an IP address and then press enter key. The physical connection for this IP address is displayed. 4 5 Click the button and then select L Q-map to create a new L map. Drag and drop an entry to the map. Click the red plus sign in a switch to open neighbor window. Extend its neighbor. Note: If one IP table is empty, L topology may not have been discovered. Refer to section.6 for L topology discovery. Test Run over Internet Lab View the One-IP table and enter 9.68., drag an entry to the map and extend neighbors of the switch lablosswitch. the

4.Map-based troubleshooting NetBrain Workstation AE is a map-based troubleshooting environment. To troubleshoot a problem, follow three steps: ) the problem area; ) Probing the live from that map; and ) Historical comparison of configuration, routing table, traffic path and performance. the

4.Diagnose the Network Performance via HeatMap Turn on a regular map to the heat map in one click. The device and interface status as well as the performance data are displayed and updated in the heat map so that you can discover the hot pot instantly. Monitor the map Open or create a map. Click the Monitor button in the context menu. The map is turned into the heat map. Tip: if the interface delay or bandwidth usage is not visible, you can zoom in the Q-map or drag the link longer to make them visible. the

4. Find Top Talkers via IP accouting For the interfaces with the high bandwidth usage, use IP accounting to find the top talkers for this interface. 4 5 At the monitored map, Right-click the bandwidth usage and select the IP accounting option. If no data is dispalyed, click the Confiugre button. In Live configure window, click the Execute button. The IP accouting is automatically confgured. Click the Refresh button to retrieve the data. Click the Traffic button so that the top talkers are displayed on the top. Right click an item in the result window and choose Create Path option to create a path from the Source IP to the Destination IP for the selected item.
