1 VPN Client and Cisco Clean Access Agent VPN Client These instructions will help you install the virtual private network (VPN) client and the clean access agent to get access to LCSC s network. NOTE: Many of the version numbers listed have changed. The necessary process for installing and using the VPN will still be the same. 1. Download the VPN client software and VPN profile by clicking on the below link and choosing Save. After downloading the file double click on it and choose Yes if you agree to all of LCSC s appropriate use guidelines. This will place a folder in the same location as the downloaded file, which will be titled LCSC-VPN. This folder contains two files named LCSC_VPN.pcf and vpnclient_5.exe Note: Vista users will have to allow the program to run before it will unzip the LCSC- VPN file. 32 bit VPN Client and VPN Profile download 64 bit VPN Client and VPN Profile download 2. Start the installation by double clicking the filename vpnclient_5.exe. A WinZip Self- Extractor will appear on the screen. At this point click the Unzip button in the upper-right of the window and then hit Close after all files have unzipped successfully. After extracting

2 all the files a Cisco Systems VPN Client Setup Wizard will appear. Select all the defaults by simply clicking the Next button and then select Finish after the installation is complete.

3 3. The installation of the VPN client is now complete. Click the Yes button to automatically restart the computer.

4 4. After the computer has rebooted, find the new program by clicking Start, then clicking All Programs, and launch the VPN Client application.

5 5. At the top-left of the VPN Client click on the pull-down menu Connection Entries. Toward the bottom of the pull down menu click on Import.

6 6. Select the LCSC_VPN.pcf that you downloaded from Lewis-Clark State College and click the button Open.

7 7. You should now see the following message. Click Ok. 8. The LCSC_VPN connection entry should be highlighted in blue. Now click the Connect button located in the top-left of the window.

8 If you get the following message, just hit Ok and try connecting again. 9. If the client is able to successfully communicate with the LCSC network, you will be asked to enter your username and password. This will be the same username and password you use to log into your computer on campus. On slow connections, it s sometimes necessary to enter your username in the username@lcsc.edu format.

9 10. Once you have successfully logged in, the following banner will appear with instructions on how to map a drive. Click continue.

10 10-A. Note: After you are done using the VPN, you will need to disconnect the VPN session. Put your mouse on the yellow padlock at the lower-right of your desktop and right click, then select Disconnect. Rebooting your computer will also stop the VPN Session. Cisco Clean Access 11. After completing step 10, launch a web browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox) and navigate to You will be redirected to the clean access download page. Click the Download Clean Access Agent button.

11 12. A warning dialog box will appear, click run from the options. Next the Clean Access Agent Installshield will appear and install the application. A small green key will appear on your taskbar after installation is complete.

12 13. If there are any updates for the Clean Access Agent they will appear next. Click the Yes button to install the new version.

13 14. A security alert message will appear, click Yes to proceed. 15. The system will check your computer to ensure it is updated with all the Microsoft Critical Updates and up to date with anti-virus definitions. Acceptable anti-virus solutions are McAfee, Symantec/Norton, Avast, and Trend Micro. If you are using a departmental laptop, it is advisable to make sure you have all Windows and McAfee updates before leaving the office. If your computer passes this check, the following window will appear.

14 Map a Network Drive 16. Open up a web browser, internet explorer, and enter into the URL address field. Once there find your department which will list out your network folder. If you would like to map your home directory on Redwood, you will use \\redwood\home\ followed by your username.

15 17. In Windows XP: From the start menu right click My Computer. From the My Computer sub menu left click the Map Network Drive In Windows Vista: Go to Computer and select Map network drive from the menu bar

16 18. From the Map Network Drive dialog box enter you department s network folder in the folder option. Also put a check into the box Reconnect at logon. Click Finish to map the network drive to the drive letter specified. You will only have access to the directories that you would normally have access to while on campus.

17 19. A user name and password box should appear. Enter your address and network password into the appropriate fields. Also put a check in the box Remember my password and then click OK. 20. The network drive should appear in My Computer. Creating Desktop Shortcut 21. From the My Computer right click the newly mapped network drive and select Create Shortcut.

18 22. A shortcut dialog box should appear, and then click Yes. usage 23. You will need to use Outlook Web Access to view your . This can be accessed at Web Applications 24. Web applications, such as the intranet and FRx, are available for use IP Softphone Note: You will need to have already purchased a license to use the Nortel IP Softphone, as well as have IT set it up on your computer for you. The following instructions are for basic use after installation. 25. Click on the IP Softphone to access your work phone. Note: The IP Softphone will only work while the VPN is connected. If you disconnect your VPN and reconnect it, you will also

19 Need to close the IP Softphone and reopen it. This will be your phone on the computer. 26. Your line number will flash red and the caller with their phone number will appear on the phone.

20 You also get a popup box in the lower right to alert you of the call. You can click on Answer to talk to the caller. 27. The Red light in the upper right signifies that you have a voic .
