I. TERMINOLOGY STP: Satellite Ticket Printer HPM: Host Print Manager software that handles data flow between Worldspan host system and attached host printers. HPM PC: Computer(s) with HPM software installed and host printers attached. Host Printer: A printer that receives data from the Worldspan host system, i.e.: tickets, itineraries, invoices, etc (not network or print screen printers). GoRes diag tool: verifies GoRes requirements are met (see Section III) Mouse clicking- left/right clicks: Left and Right clicks assume the mouse is configured with the left button as the primary button, and the right click as the secondary button. This is the default mouse button configuration. Choose or click in these directions refers to a left button mouse click. A right click will be identified as such. II. PRE-INSTALLATION CHECKLIST (REQUIREMENTS) Important: Before beginning the installation, review the checklist below. Complete all items. The customer would be well advised to have their Network Administrator review the requirements below. A. Customer must procure STP printer(s) through Hosting Agency. The printers must be Worldspan certified GDS printers. B. Customer must get the six character address(es) from the Hosting Agencies for all printers to be configured. It is referred to as an LEID. This information will be used to select the proper printer(s) for your STP when configuring HPM. C. Customer must obtain a valid Login ID and Password to access the HPM install screens from the Hosting Agency. D. Customer must obtain serial and/or parallel cable(s) to attach printer(s) to pc either by ordering or fabrication (Section IV). Note: Ticket printers must be connected via serial cable. E. Provide sufficient electrical outlets to run printer(s) and pc. F. Customer must provide a pc with a minimum Operating System level of Win2000 Pro SP1 (or server) or Windows XP Pro. G. Internet Explorer browser version 5.5 or above must be installed. H. The PC: 1. Must meet the minimum equipment requirements published in the Go! Tool Kit. 2. Must be connected to the network and have internet access. 3. Must not connect to the internet via a Proxy Server (development is underway to allow this option sometime in the near future). 4. The user must be logged in with full Administrator rights to the local pc in order to load and configure HPM. After initial install a non-administrative login can be used to launch and run the program. 5. If a firewall is involved ports 80, 443 and 4000 (outbound) must be open. 6. The pc must have sufficient serial and/or parallel ports to support the number of printers to be connected. 7. Should be positioned to allow access by serial cable(s) to the printer(s). Distance will be dictated by cable length. 8. Run the Go Res diag tool (section III) to verify proper connection and requirements are met. I. Setup and connect all equipment before beginning the installation of HPM. 1

III. GO RES DIAG TOOL The GoRes diag tool performs 16 system checks to verify the requirements for GoRes to operate properly have been met. Tests 1 through 8 are pc requirements and 9 through 16 are network requirements. Tests 9 through 16 must all pass for GoRes to operate. If any of these tests fail the customer will need to address the problems with their LAN Administrator. Follow the instructions below to run the Go!Res diag tool. A. Open the Internet Explorer Browser and type in the URL : and hit enter. B. You will first see a screen to download the application. Read the instructions and click on the link to the right that says Click here to download. A progress bar will display to show the loading status. C. You will see the screen displayed below. Choose the Click Here to Start button. 2

D. The test results will display after a brief period indicating the status of each of the tests. E. Verify that all items have passed. If any are indicated as failed consult with your Network Administrator. IV. PRINTER CABLING & ATTACHMENT A. PRINTER CABLE ACQUISITION Parallel cables are used to connect itinerary/invoice (but not ticket) printers to the hosting PC. Standard parallel printer cables in lengths up to 30 feet can be purchased in prefabricated lengths at a variety of computer stores and other retail outlets that carry computer equipment. Use Standard Parallel cables ONLY not the Bi-directional Parallel cables that are also sold. You may purchase them over the internet with your serial cable (listed below) from Control Cable at Under the Products menu on the left click on PC Cables, then click on Printer cables in the middle of the screen. You may purchase any PARALLEL PRINTER CABLE, IEEE1284, D25M/CENT36M in the length you desire and follow the on screen instructions for purchase and shipping. Again, do not choose any Parallel Bi-directional cables. Serial cables must be used to connect ticket printers to the hosting PC, and can also be used to connect itinerary/invoice printers, if sufficient serial ports are available. Serial printer cables must be fabricated per the following instructions, or can be purchased via the internet at Towards the bottom of the Products listing in the left hand panel is GO!RES Cables, click on this link. Choose the desired cable length 25,50,75 or 100 foot and follow the on screen instructions for purchase and shipping. Worldspan serial cables are not available for purchase over the counter at any retailer. Cables used by existing Worldspan customers on Worldspan for Windows v4.2 or above, or any previous version of Go! Res may be reused with this installation. They are the same as those from Control Cable, to the same specifications as the one below outlined for fabrication. 3

B. SERIAL PRINTER CABLE PINNING (FABRICATION GUIDELINES) This section outlines the pin out of the cable referred to as a serial cable throughout these instructions. This pin configuration is necessary to successfully connect from the serial port of a Go!Res pc running HPM. Note: The cable below is a standard 9 to 25 pin serial printer cable for use with Worldspan approved GDS printers only. For new installations, no previous Worldspan installation or cables present, fabricate this cable or order from Control Cable per the instructions above. The color coding is only suggested as a standard, any color wire could be used as long as the same pin to pin connection is made from end to end of the cable. 9 to 25 Pin Serial Printer Cable PC End Printer End 9 Pin Female 25 Pin Male 3 Red 3 5 Black 7 6 Purple 20 8 Yellow 11 3 pins jumpered at the male or printer end C. 14 7. If you have a form of broadband service this question should most likely be left as the default No. Dialup modems and some satellite DSL installations that do not maintain a connection require this question to be answered, Yes, via modem in order to launch the application after the desktop has begun to load and the connection has been established. If your installation requires a change to Yes from the default No you can not run HPMv7 as a Service, it must run it as an Application and you will not get the dialog box in Step 4 to choose. Click next. 8. Click the radio button for the type of installation desired, Application or as a Service. Worldspan recommends agencies use the HPM Application unless there is a solid technical requirement on your network to run it as a Service. HPM Application is the default selection. These instructions will follow the scenario to install as an Application. HPM Service is meant for a select few and requires additional processes for configuration with technical expertise required. Click Next to continue. 12

9. Various loading banners and percentage complete bars will flash on the screen until the following screen appears. Click Cancel here to continue the HPM Device Configuration process. If this was an upgrade to HPMv7 and no printer device changes are required you may choose OK to restart the computer and automatically relaunch HPMv Configure printer workstation is now the next step indicated in the checklist column to accomplish. 19 Click the Save button when finished to store the configuration. 17. You will see the dialog box below as the configuration saves. Click Continue 18. The screen will refresh and return to the HPM configuration screen. Click on the red X in the upper right hand corner to exit the screen. Click the X for close to exit the HPM configuration menu. 19. You may be prompted to reboot your pc at this point, please choose to do so. If you are not prompted, please shutdown and restart the pc. HPM will automatically launch on reboot identified by a small printer icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen in the tray, next to the clock and any other items that auto-launch on this pc. After restart, the HPM icon appears in the tray. HPM has launched and is active! 20. At this point you should contact your Hosting Agency and have them issue documents to test all configured printers. 21. To assist in future support we advise that you should label all printers with the address (LEID), document type function (ticket, invoice, etc), and the COM, LPT port or Windows Print Driver it is attached to. Please do so, this is one of the first things you will be asked if you call Worldspan for printer support 22. If there are any problems, please review all steps and contact the Hosting Agency for assistance to resolve the issue. If problems persist that cannot be resolved, contact Worldspan s ISD (Internet Support Desk) for further assistance at THE STP INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION PROCESS IS NOW COMPLETED! 17
