1 Installing ProView on your PC 1. Insert the ProView CD-ROM into your CD-ROM Drive. The Install Shield Wizard should run automatically. If it does not, click Start then Run. Enter D:\setup.exe in the field that appears. (Note: Replace D with the letter of your CD-ROM drive if not the correct drive identifier for your PC.) 2. Follow the on-screen prompts. 3. IMPORTANT: When prompted, accept the default Installation directory. Using the ProView Upgrade Wizard Cooper During the installation process several icons were created and placed onto your desktop. Locate the icon labeled ProView F6-F6TS Upgrade Wizard. Use your mouse to position the cursor over the icon and double-click with the left mouse button. NOTE: The ProView Upgrade Wizard is intended for use with Standard ProView 4.0 Form 6, Form 6 T/S, Form 6-LS and Form 6 T/S-LS control schemes. It is NOT intended for use with any other control or relay schemes. NOTE: The upgrade wizard converts ProView 4.0 Form 6 schemes to ProView The wizard will not convert Form 6 schemes created in earlier versions of ProView. NOTE: Workbench modifications that include global variables in the logic may not convert correctly. If the conversion fails, contact the Switchgear Support Group. The Upgrade Wizard consists of three options: 1. The first option will convert a ProView 4.0 scheme file that is located in the following directory on your personal computer (PC): C:\Program Files\Cooper\Proview40\Form6 and then saves the converted scheme file to C:\Program Files\Cooper\Proview401\Form6. 2. The second option upgrades the ProView 4.0 firmware on a Form 6 control to ProView and then loads a ProView scheme into the Form 6 control. Note that the scheme file must be located in the following directory on your PC: C:\Program Files\Cooper\Proview401\Form6 3. The third option connects to the Form 6 control and extracts a ProView 4.0 scheme file. It then upgrades the firmware in the control to ProView 4.0.1, converts the uploaded scheme to ProView and then downloads the converted scheme into the Form 6 control. IMPORTANT: Do not remove power from the Form 6 control at any time during the Upgrade Wizard Process. Questions? 2 OPTION 1 1. From the Upgrade Wizard Mode selection box, click the top button labeled, Convert a Form 6 V 4.0 scheme file into a Form 6 V scheme file. 2. When the Select a Scheme to convert to dialog is displayed, use your mouse to select the ProView 4.0 file to be converted. Highlight the file by clicking it and then click the Open button. 3. The selected scheme is loaded into RAM and converted into the ProView format. When the Save As dialog is displayed, accept or change the File name: then click the Save button. The newly converted file is located in the following directory: C:\Program Files\Cooper\Proview401\Form6 IMPORTANT: After completing the Scheme file conversion, proceed with the recommended Scheme Verification process at the end of this document. 3 OPTION 2 IMPORTANT: Before proceeding with Option 2, open the ProView scheme file and perform a Scheme Verification as detailed at the end of this document. 1. From the Upgrade Wizard Mode selection box, click the middle button labeled Upgrade a Form 6 control from ProView 4.0 to ProView using a Form 6 V4.0.1 scheme file stored on disk 2. When the Select a Form 6 Version Scheme to download to the control dialog is displayed, highlight the ProView file to be downloaded by clicking it and then click the Open button. The Upgrade Wizard will launch ProView and load the selected scheme. 3. When the Select Connection dialog opens, select the Com port used by your PC for serial communications. NOTE: This is typically Com ProView will prompt you for a password, enter the device password (e.g., the default password is Modify ) then click the OK button. Note that this is a case-sensitive field. 5. Three progress-bar boxes will be displayed in the following sequence to indicate the current state of the upgrade wizard. 4 OPTION 3 1. Launch ProView 4.0; connect to the Form 6 using the Open Scheme from Device option. When the Save As dialog is displayed accept or change the File name: then click the Save button. RECOMMENDED VERIFICATION PROCESS: a) Perform the steps listed under Option 1 then proceed with Option 3 or perform Option Launch the ProView upgrade Wizard. From the Upgrade Wizard Mode selection box, click the third button labeled Upgrade a Form 6 control from ProView 4.0 to ProView by uploading the scheme file from the device 3. When the Select a Connection dialog opens, select the Com port used by your PC for serial communications. NOTE: This is typically Com ProView will prompt you for a password, enter the device password (e.g., the default password is Modify ) then click the OK button. 5 6. When the Upgrade Wizard completes uploading the scheme, a Save As Dialog will be displayed. Accept or change the File name: then click the Save button. Note: If the recommended verification process was followed at the beginning of Option 3, the file name will already be present. You can either save the file under a new name or replace the existing file. 7. When the Scheme Upgrade box is displayed click YES. NOTE: Do not cancel the Scheme Upgrade Progress of the scheme conversion and firmware download is indicated by the Downloading Firmware progress bar. NOTE: Do not cancel the Firmware Download. 6 Recommended Scheme Verification Newly created ProView schemes or schemes converted to ProView using the upgrade wizard can be verified using the following procedure. 1. Launch ProView and open the scheme to be verified. 2. Select Manage from the main menu. When the drop-down menu appears, select Oscillographic Events A progress bar is displayed to indicate status of the scheme preparation process. 3. The Oscillographic Event Manager dialog will be displayed upon a successful scheme preparation. The scheme verification process is complete, click the Exit button. 4. If the scheme preparation was unsuccessful, ProView displays an error message similar to the one shown in the following example. Clicking the OK button will take you to the Workbench where the error occurred. Questions?
