2 TOOLBAR contains the main tools as well as the playbook (clipboard) and the menu button for things like saving and sharing SUBMENU contains a relevant selection of options, properties or controls related to the selected tool in the TOOLBAR PLAY AREA is the main area where text and drawings are added as well as players moved or animated into position

3 The main TOOLBAR and SUBMENU are designed for speed and simplicity. By swiping the SUBMENU side to side, users can quickly jump to the correct tool they require. In addition to swiping, users can also simply select the tool from the TOOLBAR and the SUBMENU will quickly pan into position with the appropriate options. Each main tool on the TOOLBAR menu also changes the interactivity state of the drawing board PLAY AREA. For instance, selecting the DOODLE tool will not allow you to instantly draw on the board with the currently selected tool and options configured. This functionality is outlined in the EASY MODE section.

4 The SUBMENU has the ability to be hidden to allow you to see the entire PLAY AREA while still giving you EASY MODE functionality. Simply swipe the SUBMENU up to hide it. Once hidden a new button will appear on the TOOLBAR that allows you to tap it to unhide. Tapping the the TRANSFORM, MOVE, TEXT or DOODLE tools will still allow you to use the EASY MODE functionality in the app. For example, if the user hides the sub menu and selects the TRANSFORM tool, the user can pinch zoom, two finger rotate, one finger pan and double tap zoom. The SUBMENU acts as more detailed options or properties related to the main tool.

5 Easy mode enables fast and easy drawing board features while minimizing the the complexity of the UI. It is geared towards how a coach would use a clipboard to quickly illustrate a tactic. It enables basic interactivity by just selecting a top level tool. The TRANSFORM tool selected, use multi- touch gestures to pinch zoom, two finger rotate, or one/two finger pan of the play area into the desired position. There is also the option to double tap with one finger to increment the current zoom by 10% The MOVE tool allows you to drag and move any object. Players, balls and refs are typically what get moved but some sports have special objects that also fit into this section (ex. Football playlines). If you have an animation created, double tap this icon to press play. The TEXT tool allows you to tap anywhere on the play area to drop in text at the location of the touch. The text will also be rotated to 0 degrees even if the field is rotated. When this tool is selected, it is also possible to drag already inserted text into a new position. The DOODLE tool allows you to draw on the screen by default with free hand but will use any color, line or line end that was last used in the same session

6 TRANSFORM MOVE TEST DOODLE The advanced mode section will walk through the use of the tools and options in each tool SUBMENU. Note that EASY MODE functionality still applies when the SUBMENU is in the down position.

7 EXPAND This button will reset the PLAY AREA to best fit the screen. It will adjust according to the orientation of the tablet for maximum effect ZOOM ZONE This button is a standard transition for a close zone view. It will not adjust rotation or x/y positions of the PLAY AREA ROTATE 90 This button will rotate the PLAY AREA to the closest 90 degrees in a clockwise direction. For instance, if through gesture rotation, the PLAY AREA is rotated 40 degrees, pressing this will change it to 90. PLUS / MINUS ZOOM these two buttons will allow a quick fine tuning of the zoom level without risking a rotation when you use gestures. Note that double tapping the PLAY AREA will also act as a + zoom HALF this button will load a pre- made half PLAY AREA transition so users can quickly setup the PLAY AREA for an offense or defense play PLAY AREA will pop up a menu to select a different background relevant to the sport LOCK ORIENTATION locks portrait or landscape screen (this is ios specific, Android maintains this in the settings dialog) LAYERS This button only appears when a play is loaded that contains a draw layer. It allows you to load an eraser for touching up the drawing (for editing) or to remove the draw layer entirely so you can watch animation. PLAYLINES specific to Football, toggles the play lines on and off

8 0 0 KEYFRAME indicates current frame on top and total frames on the bottom. Keyframes are used to create animations PLUS / MINUS KEYFRAME will add or remove a keyframe to the end of the play. If the current frame is less than the total frame (ex. On frame 3 of 10) and the user attempts to add a frame, they will be prompted to overwrite the current frame, if the user clicks no, the added frame moves to the end. MOVE KEYFRAME allows you to step through the keyframes. Left will decrease the current frame and right will increment the current keyframe PAUSE Pauses a running animation PLAY Plays an animation from the start or if paused from the paused frame TIMER Allows users to set the duration time between keyframes. This setting applies to all frames PLAYER SIZE adjust player and object size, great for zoomed in plays. This is also saved as part of an animation or formation PLAYER LETTER allows you to touch a player to change the 2 characters on the player NUMBER OF PAYERS sets the number of players per team. IN the event only one team is needed, zoom out and drag off the team. Save this as a formation if need to recall often.

9 PYLONS allows users to add up to 10 pylons. Pylons will get saved with a play animation but the positions of the pylons are fixed so they cannot be animated as part of a play. BALL allows users to add up to 5 balls or pucks to the animation. The amount and locations are saved and they can be animated. REFEREE allows users to add up to 3 refs to the animation. The amount and locations are saved and they can be animated Note that if the submenu is hidden (EASY MODE), users can double tap the MOVE tool in the main TOOLBAR to play the animation. This makes it easy to not have to press play and have to hide the SUBMENU.

10 PLUS will add the text currently in the text box to the right. This is a useful feature when you want to add the same text multiple times and don t want to re- type it. The text will be added to the center of the PLAY AREA and the rotation will always be level to the user even if the play area is rotated. If you want rotated text, you need to rotate the PLAY AREA and then insert the text 5 TEXT INPUT allows user to enter text that can be added. The X button will allow users to clear the text box SIZE will change the text size through a range of sizes COLOR adjusts the color of the text being added UNDO removes last text added to the PLAY AREA CLEAR prompts user to remove all text. On ANDROID, users can get a list of all text and remove any text that was added Note that when the text tool is selected, a user can drag any text that is currently on the PLAY AREA. In addition to dragging, if a user clicks on the PLAY AREA, they will get a dialog to insert text. This differs from the submenu addition of text as it will add it at the location that was pressed.

11 DRAW TOOLS will allow the user to select from different tool types such as dotted free hand or straight lines. The highlight will move to the position of the currently selected draw tool ARROW HEAD adds an arrow head to the end of the currently selected tool. This works for all tools except shapes (triangle, square or circle). Pressing it again will disable it. Cannot use with BOOCK. 5 BLOCK adds a block to the end of the currently selected tool. This works for all tools except shapes. Pressing again will disable. Cannot be used with ARROW HEAD. SIZE will change the thickness of the line used to draw COLOR changes the color of the lines used to draw UNDO removes the last doodle CLEAR allows user to remove all doodles. ANDROID users will get additional option of a list of added doodles that users will be able to clear any doodle.

12 The menu on both Android and ios serves as a way to manage plays and formations. NEW will set the app back to default in terms of player positions and PLAY AREA rotation, scale and position. It will not however revert back to default player names, those will be kept. SAVE allows you to save an image, play or formation IMAGE screen capture of the current screen saved to the gallery or photos App FORMATION saves player name, size, number of players as well as positions currently seen on the screen PLAY saves animation, text, doodles, and player positions and names all to a text file. When a play is saved, the text and doodles is collapsed to a single image file. It can be modified using the eraser functionality of the LAYERS button SHARE provides sharing options covered on the sharing slides DELETE allows you to see a list of formations and plays and allows you to delete them from the database OPTIONS see next slide LANGUAGE currently Android only, allows you to change the app language

13 VIBRATION toggles on/off vibration when moving players around on the PLAY AREA ROTATION identical to the feature in ios, when checked, it allows the screen to be rotated. When unchecked, the screen orientation will not change based on how the device is held FULLSCREEN toggles the notification bar on and off. Having the notification bar off makes it easier to swipe up and down the SUBMENU SUBMENU BUTTON allows you to have a fixed submenu button to raise and lower the SUBMENU without needing to swipe it. Useful on smaller screens or if swiping becomes problematic OTHER some features will be sport specific. playlines in football or coverage area in basketball Such as

14 The playbook or clipboard functionality is a quick shortcut to get at your saved data. FORMATIONS will present an alphabetized list of saved formations. These can be scrolled through and selected to load the formation to quickly illustrate a tactic PLAYS will present an alphabetized list of saved plays. These will have animations, and doodles and text. IMAGES (Android only) this feature will be deprecated. Previously, it would launch the gallery app but some gallery apps on some phones cause crashes.

15 Sharing on ios is currently limited to sharing through the default client. The intent with Sports Dood will be to build out ways to share it with other users including cloud storage so users can back up or have shared drives in which to store and share plays. To open a play someone has shared, it needs to use ios Open In framework. Plays are stored in text files and with the default mail app, it will open in a text editor which uses the Open In functionality. It is possible to share this from the mail app to Drop Box and Drop Box also has Open In functionality. Sharing of play images can be accomplished by using the built in Photos App to share as you would a camera image.

16 Sharing on Android is a much simpler task. Android has a framework for sharing across applications that is built out and many apps implement it. Both images and plays can be shared directly from the app. Simply click share, select image or play and then a list of applications that can handle that file type will be presented. Users can upload to cloud services or share images on social networks with little effort. Using the same framework, Android also has the ability to Open With and this is what you use to open a play someone shares with you. The file can be in a local folder, on cloud storage or anywhere else. Note: If you receive a play in your gmail, you may need to SAVE the file first before opening it with Sports Dood apps. The file gets saved to the Download folder.
