6 6 Installation Guide DRAWings installation Welcome to DRAWings 8 PRO installation Starting Installation Insert the DRAWings PRO v.8 installation DVD into your DVD-ROM drive. It is recommended that you close all running programs before you proceed. If your computer does not have the DVD-ROM AUTORUN feature activated, open Windows Explorer and from the DVD-ROM drive run the Setup.exe program. If you intend to use the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite software (version 12, X3, X4, X5, X6, X7) through DRAWings 8 embroidery software, you must bear in mind that the installation of CorelDRAW must take place prior to the installation of DRAWings 8. Do not plug the KEY, until you are prompted by the installation wizard. If your computer has the DVD-ROM AUTORUN feature enabled, setup will start automatically. In case you have already installed DRAWings 8, the installation wizard will instruct you to update your existing installation or repair it or remove it.

7 DRAWings installation 7 7 Windows XP, Vista, 7 autorun Windows 8, 8.1, 10 If the installation is running on Windows Vista/ 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10 operating system and you have the User Account Control option enabled a Security screen will appear informing you about the new software and will ask you if you allow it to be executed. If you are NOT the Administrator of the PC the following Dialog will appear. To install the software you have to login as Administrator by entering the User name and the Password in the respective fields. After that click OK button and the installation will continue normally. Otherwise if you are logged in Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10 operating system as Administrator, the following dialog will appear. On this screen you have to select the Allow option, in order to continue the installation.

8 8 Installation Guide The initial welcoming dialog of the installation will appear, from this point you must follow the wizzard steps in order to proceed with DRAWings 8 installation. In this window you must click Next to proceed or Cancel to abort the installation. License agreement The License Agreement dialog will appear. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE TERMS & CONDITIONS OF THE LICENSE AGREEMENT. If you agree with the terms of the license agreement click on the first radio button of the window (I accept the terms in the license agreement) and then click Next, if you don t agree with the terms you can click Cancel to abort installation.

9 DRAWings installation 9 9 Customize installation The Destination Folder dialog will appear. By clicking on the Browse button you can select another directory to install DRAWings 8 or keep the current one that is shown in the dialog. Click Next to proceed.

10 10 Installation Guide At the next dialog you can select which software components you want to be installed. By default all components will be installed, click on any item to see its description and deselect any of the components that you wish not to install. When you are done click on Next to proceed. The Ready to Install dialog will appear. This dialog informs that installation is ready to start. If you want to review or change any of your installation settings, you have to go back, by clicking Back, and make the changes. In case you want to cancel the installation in any of the installation steps press the cancel button. Click Install to proceed to the installation process. During the installation you can click the Show details button to view details about the installation procedure.

11 DRAWings installation The installation process will try to install in the background some Cutter driver files. This is useful when you want to directly connect any of the supported Cutters. While this installation takes part you may see a warning message like in the following figure. If you want to be able to connect to any of the supported Cutter machines without any later driver installation you must press Install this driver anyway in order to install the driver. Software Registration When the installer is done copying and installing files the Key selection dialog will appear. At this point you must select if the purchased software was provided with a Serial number - Activation code or with a USB security key. Select the type of the key that you own in order to register your key and gain access to updates, training videos and various other material.

12 12 Installation Guide If you have a USB key select the I have a USB key option and plug the Hardware Key in a free USB port and click Next. If you have a Serial number (Software key) then select the I have a Serial Number and an Activation code option and click Next Software key The Software key window will appear. Type the Serial number of your key and the Activation code to the respective fields and click Activate. If you see any error message, please check your internet connection and if the Serial number - Activation code were typed correctly.

13 DRAWings installation If the activation is completed successfully then a success message will appear and the window will close automatically. The Registration information will appear in order to proceed. You can read more about registration process later in this topic. USB Key If you have inserted the USB key into any USB port then the installation will try to recognize the inserted key and proceed. If it is not recognized correctly then you will be prompted to plug the Hardware Key on a free USB port. Plug the USB key and press the OK button. Wait until the installation recognizes the key and proceeds with the Registration information. Registration information In any case the Registration information window will appear. This window is a form that you have to fill with valid information and send it back to us by clicking on the Register button. If you want, you can read our privacy policy and learn more about how we will use your information. The installation will continue automatically after sending the registration form. In order to complete this step you must be connected to the internet.

14 14 Installation Guide When the Registration is submited the installation of Wings' modular will automatically start. Now DRAWings PRO v.8 software is installed in your computer. To execute/run the software, open the Windows Start menu, click on All Programs > DRAWings 8 and then click on DRAWings 8 PRO

15 Wings modular 6 installation Wings modular 6 installation DRAWings includes a portion of Wings' modular, one of the world s leading professional digitizing embroidery software programs. The two programs communicate to give you professional results even on the first try. Now the installation of Wings' modular will start automatically after DRAWings installation is finished. Starting Installation When the following window appears you are ready to start installing files. In this screen, click Next to continue.

16 16 Installation Guide License agreement The following screen is the License Agreement window. Click on the first radio button of this window to confirm that you accept the terms of the license agreement. (CAUTION! PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE TERMS & CONDITIONS OF THE LICENSE AGREEMENT). Then click the Next button. Customize installation The Destination Folder dialog will appear. You can either press Next button to leave the default destination folder or by clicking the Browse button you will be prompted to use another folder. You can change the Installation Folder by clicking on the Browse... button and selecting another directory. Click Next > to continue.

17 Wings modular 6 installation At the next dialog you can select which software components you want to be installed. By default all components will be installed, click on any item to see its description and deselect any of the components that you wish not to install. When you are done click on Next to proceed. The next screen, allows selecting what files you want Wings modular to handle. There are 3 available

18 18 Installation Guide choices of Wings modular file handling. When we use the phrase handle we mean an association between the file extension and the program. So if you select using windows explorer an embroidery file from your local file system, that it can be accessed by the program immediately by double clicking the file. The application will handle only the.ngs and.mls file formats. The application will handle all supported embroidery formats. The application will not handle any embroidery formats. Make a selection and Click the Next button. The actual file copying and installation takes place at this point. During the installation you can click the Show details button to view details about the installation procedure. When the installation is finished click on on Next to proceed.

19 Wings modular 6 installation This final confirmation window will appear confirming that the installation has been completed. Click on the Finish button to complete the Installation of Wings modular. Wings modular 6 embroidery software has been successfully installed on your computer. To execute/run the software open the Windows Start menu, click Programs, Wings modular 6 and then click on Wings modular 6 or Double click the Wings modular 6 icon in your desktop.

20 20 Installation Guide USB Key Upgrade If you updating from previous version of DRAWings and the installation locates the previous version installed on your system, then the USB Key Remote Upgrade Utility will appear after the program installation. (NOTICE: If you have already upgraded your USB Key Click Cancel.) If you are upgrading form an older version you must insert one (or more) 16-bit Upgrade code(s), that you have received from your distributor, in the respective Code fields. Make sure that you are connected to the internet and click the Upgrade button. If the upgrade is completed successfully a success message will appear. Otherwise if you receive an error code message please contact your dealer / distributor for support. If you prefer to upgrade your USB Key at a later stage, you can access the USB Key Remote Upgrade Utility from Start > All programs DRAWings 8 PRO> USB Key Upgrade. In case that you see an error like in the figure below "Check your internet connection", make sure that you are connected to the internet and-or disable your firewall.

21 3D configuration D configuration DRAWings 3D configuration If you experience any problems in opening DRAWings you may need to adjust the 3D setup of the software from Start >All Programs > DRAWings 8 > Config3D. If your graphic card has 256 Mb RAM and above with the latest drivers and the DirectX 9.0C or later installed, there will be no problem in working with DRAWings 8. Whenever you load Config3D the following dialog box will appear. Generally in this dialog you need to adjust DRAWings 3D preview settings depending on the capability of your graphic card. When you click Advanced button of DRAWings 3D configuration dialog the Info list appears showing your Video card capabilities. Those are technical information about the graphic card that is installed in your computer. This list with all the information can be send via by clicking on the Send via . You can also select the Technology you want to use, optimize the 3D settings and view useful technical information about your graphic card. Select Technology: From this part of the dialog you can select between the two technologies that DRAWings supports. DirectX 9.0C or newer is the default 3D technology that DRAWings uses. So it s required DirectX 9.0c or newer to be installed on your PC in order for DRAWings to work properly. This option must be selected in order to be able to enjoy high quality 3D preview through DRAWings application.

22 22 Installation Guide OpenGL can be used by compatible graphic cards. OpenGL option can be used as alternative way of viewing 3D in DRAWings. It is an option that we suggest to use in case that your graphic card has problems with Direct3D graphics. In both cases you have to keep always the drivers of your graphic card up to date, by downloading them from the official site of their manufacturer. If you have a laptop computer you have to download the drivers for your graphic card from the official site of the laptop manufacturer. In order to find out if the technology is supported, select the OpenGL option and from the Info list that appears when you click on the Advanced button, check if the Supports OpenGL option from the Property list, has the Value Yes. Optimize settings for: The options that are listed in this area has to do with the quality of the 3D preview of stitches in DRAWings. The options are Stability, by selecting Stability, the 3D preview of the software will be set at the lowest level of quality giving priority to performance. Speed, By selecting Speed the 3D preview of the software will be set at medium level of quality together with good performance. By selecting Quality, in this case 3D preview of the stitch part of DRAWings will be set at good level of quality without affecting its performance. High Quality, finally 3D preview will be set to the best possible according to your graphic card. I usually open: In this section of the dialog you can define how many instances of DRAWings you are usually create. The instances of DRAWings that you have open are connected directly with the power of your graphic card. If you have a good graphic card, you can have many instances of DRAWings with High quality 3D preview. On the other hand, if you do not have a good graphic card you can open less DRAWings instances. Few concurrent DRAWings windows option will keep the quality of 3D preview high in a way to allow you to open few DRAWings instances Many concurrent DRAWings windows option will set an average quality to the 3D preview but will allow you to open many instances of DRAWings. Select the one that fits to your everyday use of the software and let it choose your 3D settings. When you finish setting 3D you have to click on the Save User settings button to confirm the changes you have made. By clicking on the Save User settings button, the 3D settings that you have selected will be applied only on the current Windows user. If you click on the Save Global Settings button, the 3D settings that you have selected will be applied to all Windows users. The next time that DRAWings will start will have the new 3D settings running. If the software does not start you have to reduce the quality of 3D in DRAWings 3D config, save the settings and try again. Wings' modular 3D configuration If you experience any problems in opening Wings modular you may need to adjust the 3D configuration of the software from Start >All Programs >Wings' modular 6 > Config3D. If your graphic card has 64 Mb RAM and above with the latest drivers and the DirectX 9.0C or later installed, there will be no problem in working with Wings modular 6. Whenever you load Wings modular 6 Config3D the following dialog box will appear. Generally in this dialog you need to adjust Wings modular 3D preview settings depending on the capability of your graphic card.

25 DRAWings maintenance DRAWings maintenance Once you have DRAWings installed in your computer, you can use the DRAWings DVD in order to modify and update parts of the existing program or even remove DRAWings from your computer. In order to activate the program maintenance options please insert the DRAWings DVD into your DVDROM drive. If you don t have the AUTORUN function enabled, open the Windows Explorer, go to DVDROM drive and click on Setup.exe. Another way that you can activate the program maintenance from Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs> DRAWings 8 select Change button. If DRAWings 8 is installed on windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10 and you have the User Account Control enabled you may have to log in as Administrator (if you are not already the administrator) or select Allow on the warning dialog that informs you about new software that is about to be installed, in order to continue with the program maintenance. As you can see on the following figure you can Add-remove components, Update components and Remove application by selecting the respective option. Select any maintenace option and click on Next to proceed. Add - Remove components In case that you select to Add-Remove components then the Select components dialog will appear, using this dialog you can select not installed components to be installed and deselect components that you wish to remove.

26 26 Installation Guide Update components Select update components in maintanance dialog and press Next, as you can see on the following figure you can review the program components that will be updated. Click on any of the components to view a description of the component that is to be updated and press Next to proceed.

27 DRAWings maintenance Press Update to proceed, at this point the program will connect to the update server and it will automatically download and update the program components. Please wait while download and installation takes place once the installation is done then a completion message will appear, press Finish to terminate program maintenance. Remove all components This feature is used to remove DRAWings and its installed accessories, plug-ins etc. from your computer. From program maintenance options select Remove and click Next to continue. The Ready to uninstall dialog appears as you can see on the following figure. Click the Uninstall button to uninstall the program.

28 28 Installation Guide Once the removal is completed, the following window (Figure 38) will appear confirming that the removal has been completed. Click Finish to complete uninstall.

29 Wings modular maintenance Wings modular maintenance Once you have Wings modular is installed into your computer you can use the respective option of Add remove programs in order to modify and update components of the existing program or even remove Wings modular from your computer. You can also Browse the installation DVD, go to folder modular and click on the Setup.exe file. We will use the exe file that is on the installation DVD. If the installation is running on Windows Vista/ 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10 operating system and you have the User Account Control option enabled a Security screen will appear informing you about the new software and will ask you if you allow it to be executed. On this screen you have to select the Allow option, in order to continue the installation. As you can see on the following figure you can Add-remove components, Update components and Remove application by selecting the respective option. Select any maintenance option and click on Next to proceed.

30 30 Installation Guide Add - Remove components In case that you select to Add-Remove components then the Select components dialog will appear, using this dialog you can select not installed components to be installed and deselect components that you wish to remove.

31 Wings modular maintenance Update components Select update components in maintanance dialog and press Next, as you can see on the following figure you can review the program components that will be updated. Click on any of the components to view a description of the component that is to be updated and press Next to proceed. Press Update to proceed, at this point the program will connect to the update server and it will automatically download and update the program components. Please wait while download and installation takes place once the installation is done then a completion message will appear, press Finish to terminate program maintenance.

32 32 Installation Guide Remove all components This feature is used to remove Wings' modular and its installed accessories, plug-ins etc. from your computer. From program maintenance options select Remove and click Next to continue. The Ready to uninstall dialog appears as you can see on the following figure. Click the Uninstall button to uninstall the program.

33 Wings modular maintenance Once the removal is completed, the following window will appear confirming that the removal has been completed. Click Finish to complete uninstall.
