What is CPR Flash? CPR Flash is a utility which was created to update/flash the firmware of your CPR Tools device (PSIClone, Hammer, SCSI Hammer, Sledge Hammer, etc ).

3 What is CPR Flash? CPR Flash is a utility which was created to update/flash the firmware of your CPR Tools device (PSIClone, Hammer, SCSI Hammer, Sledge Hammer, etc ). Installing CPR Flash CPR Flash is installed as part of the CPR Tools Utilities Suite which is shipped with CPR Tools devices (PSIClone, Hammer, SCSI Hammer, Sledge Hammer, etc ). Users may check the CPR Tools Downloads Page located at the most current version of the CPR Tools Utilities Suite. Using CPR Flash Assuming the user accepted default options during the CPR Tools Utilities Suite installation process, CPR Flash will be found under Start\Programs\CPR Tools\. Additional icons for launching the utility will also exist in the Quick Start menu as well as the desktop. Using CPR Flash for the first time The first time a device is updated using CPR Flash, the dialog box presented in Figure 1 may appear. Figure 1 - Software Installation Warning Dialog Box Click Continue Anyway to ensure the requisite driver will be properly installed. This is required for CPR Flash to function. Page 3 of 16

8 When the PSIClone driver has been installed, Windows will present the Completing the Found New Hardware dialog box. The preceding steps only take place the first time a CPR Tools device is updated on the host system. Once the requisite USB driver(s) have been installed, launching CPR Flash will result not require these steps to be repeated. Page 8 of 16

Note to SCSI Hammer Users When using CPR Flash to update your SCSI Hammer, some users may encounter the dialog box depicted in Figure 7 when CPR Flash detects the attached SCSI Hammer device.

Figure 7 - SCSI Hammer updates may require clearing of logs Clicking Cancel will exit the CPR Flash utility. Should users wish to save the existing logs before updating SCSI Hammer, the Jobs tab within CPR Toolbox should be visited. From there, users may download existing jobs to the host PC. Clicking OK will clear the existing logs and will permit SCSI Hammer to be updated as described in this guide. Page 9 of 16

Updating Firmware with CPR Flash CPR Flash has now been launched and is ready to begin updating your CPR Tools device (PSIClone, Hammer, SCSI Hammer, Sledge Hammer, etc ).

10 Updating Firmware with CPR Flash CPR Flash has now been launched and is ready to begin updating your CPR Tools device (PSIClone, Hammer, SCSI Hammer, Sledge Hammer, etc ). The CPR Flash main screen is presented in Figure 8. During the update process only one (1) CPR Tools device (PSIClone, Hammer, SCSI Hammer, Sledge Hammer, etc ). should be attached via USB to the host PC running the CPR Flash utility. Note to Sledge Hammer Users When updating Sledge Hammer, the Sledge Hammer must be connected to an SCB which should connect to the host PC via USB. NOTE: Other than the differences contained within actual firmware update files and the system paths in which they are stored, the update process for all CPR Tools devices (PSIClone, Hammer, SCSI Hammer, Sledge Hammer, etc ) is identical to the examples shown here using Hammer. Figure 8 - CPR Flash, a Hammer device is attached NOTE: The Restore Defaults checkbox is checked. Leave this item selected to force the device being updated to return to factory default settings. To retain user designated defaults, clear this checkbox before proceeding. Page 10 of 16

Clicking the Program button causes CPR Flash to attempt to locate a firmware file to use for the update. Figure 9 depicts the 'Firmware Selection' screen.

Figure 9 - Locating firmware files By default, CPR Flash will identify the type of device connected and will present the folder into which firmware files were placed during the installation of CPR Tools Utilities Suite. As Figure 9 shows, a number of firmware folders may be displayed. Select the folder containing the firmware file which should be installed, then click Open ; alternately, users may double click the desired folder. Page 11 of 16

13 IMPORTANT: For the firmware update to succeed, it is imperative that: The USB connection between the device and the host PC is maintained. No other USB devices are connected or removed while the CPR Tools device is being programmed The device is not powered off until CPR Flash instructs the user to do so. Failure to follow these instructions may render the device inoperable until reprogrammed by CPR Tools. CPR Flash will initiate device reprogramming. During this process indication of progress will be provided by the progress bar displayed. Figure 12 - CPR Flash displays a progress bar during device reprogramming While being reprogrammed, the device LCD will display DO NOT DISCONNECT USB. Once programming of the device has completed, CPR Flash will inform the user and request that the device be power-cycled so that the newly programmed changes may take effect.

Power cycle the CPR Tools device to enable the newly applied updates. Page 14 of 16

This is case sensitive note that the word CONFIG is in all capital letters. This driver selection will only be required once. Once selected, click Next and complete the Found New Hardware Wizard.
