1 WESTAT REMOTE ACCESS (WRA) SET UP INSTRUCTIONS The following instructions will allow you to access Westat s Citrix XenApp Web Interface (WXA). This document will teach you how to access Westat s At Home Interviewing (AHI) Environment, and is required before you will be allowed to start collecting data. In order to log in to WXA, you will first need to call in to the Voice Authentication System. Next, you will login to Westat s Citrix XenApp Web Interface (WXA). Once logged in to WRA, you will have to access the interviewer desktop and the applications. ************************PLEASE FOLLOW ALL OF THESE STEPS NOW********************* Voice Authentication You should have already enrolled in the Voice Authentication System. (If you have not enrolled, please access Voice Authentication Enrollment documentation from your LMS History and follow the directions before continuing) Verification Steps: 1. Call or You will enter your Westat Identification Number (WINS #) 3. After the tone please repeat the phrase: "My voice is my password". Press the pound or hash key (#) when you finish speaking. 4. You will receive one of the following results: a. If you are NOT VERIFIED Sorry, the phrase was not matched. Please repeat the phrase My voice is my password after the tone. Press the pound or hash key (#) when you're finished speaking. i. You will have 2 attempts to verify. If you have not verified on your second attempt you will receive the following message: Thank you. The phrase was not matched. Your identity has not been confirmed. If this is your first attempt, please call back to try again. Check your WINS or Westat ID number, make sure you are dialing from your PAGE 1

2 landline, and speak in a normal voice. If this is already your second try, contact TRCJobs@Westat.com to report the situation. Goodbye. b. If you are VERIFIED Thank you. Your identity has been confirmed. Please continue the log-in process on your PC. Goodbye. 5. Now that you are verified, you will have up to ten (10) minutes to log into our system. If you are unable to log into the system in that time, you will need to re-verify thru the voice authentication process again. Preparing to Use Westat s Citrix XenApp Web Interface (WXA) There two steps you need to complete to prepare your computer to use Westat s Citrix XenApp Web Interface (WXA). Step 1: Installing Citrix Client Step 2: Adding the Citrix XenApp Website to Internet Explorer s Trusted Sites Each of these steps will only need to be completed once PER COMPUTER. Detailed instructions for each step are included in the next sections. Installing Citrix Client You will only need to do this once (PER COMPUTER. If you attempt to log in to WXA using a PC other than the one you are about to load this software on, you will need to follow these steps again). Computers that have been previously configured with the Citrix Local Client to access WRA/Metaframe do not need to repeat this step. The same XenAppWeb/Citrix Local Client is used for both WRA/Metaframe and WXA. Step 1: Open your web browser and into the address bar type: Step 2: Save the file to your desktop PAGE 2

3 Step 3: Open the folder where you saved the file. Step 4: Double click the MSI file to run the installation wizard PAGE 3

4 Note: You will need to run the file as an administrator. To do this right click on the MSI file and click Run as Administrator. Step 5: It is recommended that you restart your computer after the install is complete. Adding the Citrix XenApp Website to Internet Explorer s Trusted Sites You will only need to do this once (PER COMPUTER. If you attempt to log in to WXA using a PC other than the one you are about to add this Trusted Site to, you will need to follow these steps again). Step 1: Open Microsoft Internet Explorer on your workstation. Step 2: Display the Trusted sites dialog by going to Tools >Internet Options > Security tab, click Trusted sites (the icon with the green checkmark) and then click the Sites button. Step 3: Type into the Add this website to the zone field. PAGE 4

5 Step 4: Click the Add button and then click Close. Step 5: In the Internet Options dialog, click OK to return to Internet Explorer. Logging into Westat s Projects Step 1: Type into the address bar of your web browser. This is our project landing page. This page will list Important Messages for each shift, please ensure that you read this screen prior to logging in. Please note any information that appears here as there may be messages that are important to you. Also note that there is a place to download the SPARK client along with installation instructions for Citrix Metaframe and Citrix Receiver, if needed. PAGE 5

6 Step 2: Save this page as a favorite or bookmark it so that this is always the 1 st place you go to connect to the correct web site for your project. Step 3: Go to the Projects list. Notice there could be messages about your specific project. You should click on the Link to Login. This link will take you to the correct web connection for your project. Logging onto Westat s Citrix XenApp Web Interface (WXA) These steps are performed from your workstation. You do not need to login to the traditional WRA/Metaframe first. From your workstation, open Internet Explorer, and navigate directly to instead of going to Metaframe ( PAGE 6

7 Step 1: Read the Pre-Logon Message and acknowledge by clicking I Agree. NOTE: Your username is your WINS number. Your password was ed to you along with your WINS number in your welcome letter. Step 3: Enter your Username and Password into the corresponding boxes. Unless you ve been instructed to do otherwise, leave the Domain as TRC. NOTE: Your username is your WINS number. 8 Step 4: Click the Log On button to access the Citrix applications page. Accessing the Interviewer Desktop (or other desktops on Citrix) Step 1: If you have been granted access to the Interviewer Desktop or other desktops on Citrix, then they will be listed on the Desktops tab of the applications page. Click on the Desktops tab to display the desktops you are able to use. If you do not see the Desktops tab it is because you do not have permission to use any desktops on Citrix OR the desktop has not had enough time to populate. You may need to refresh the screen to get to your desktops tab. PAGE 8

9 Step 2: Open a particular desktop, such as the Interviewer Desktop by clicking on that desktop s icon on the Desktops tab. Step 3: Confirm the Windows Logon message. Step 4: The desktop will launch in a Citrix window. You may begin using applications inside the Citrix desktop. PAGE 9

10 What to do if there are no resources currently available Occasionally you may logon and instead of seeing your assigned list of published applications you may instead see the message There are no resources currently available for this user.. This message indicates that your user currently does not have permission to view any applications. There are a couple of reasons this could happen: 1. If you did not call the Voice Authentication line a. Go back to the top of this document and follow the steps again beginning with calling the Voice Authentication line. 2. If you have just used the Voice Authentication line to verify within the last minute, a. Then your voice authentication ticket has not been fully processed yet. b. Wait 30 seconds c. Click the swoopy arrow refresh button (circled in red) to update your list of applications. You may need to click the button a few times. d. Once your voice authentication ticket has been fully processed your list of applications should appear. 3. If you called the Voice Authentication ten or more minutes ago a. Then your voice authentication ticket has expired. b. Go back to the top of this document and follow the steps again beginning with calling the Voice Authentication line. 4. If none of these steps cause your list of applications to appear. a. Your user may not allowed to use applications in Westat s Citrix environment. b. Contact your Mentor or Team Leader, who may then have you contact TRC Help. PAGE 10
