Introduction The central Virtual Private Network (VPN) service enables staff users to establish secure remote connection to the campus network for accessing the PolyU internal resources from off-campus, as if they are sitting in their office. Everything transmitted over the VPN are encrypted to protect data privacy. Hence, staff can carry out remote administrative and technical tasks in a secure way using the VPN service. 2. System Requirements Microsoft Windows OS Windows Vista SP2/7/8/8.1/10, 32 bit or 64 bit edition 3. Session lifetime Maximum Allowable Session Length: 12 hours Idle Timeout: 30 minutes Reminder before session ends: 5 minutes PolyU Admin VPN Service Installation and User Guide Page 2

4 4. Installation and Login Procedure Step 1. Install Pulse Secure client application and create a new connection (For first time login only. Please skip to Step 2 if you have already installed Pulse Secure) 1) Download the installer according to your Windows version and install Download the Installer from PolyU ITS homepage. Open the Installer Follow the instruction to Install the software -Click Next to continue and wait for installation finish PolyU Admin VPN Service Installation and User Guide Page 3

5 2) Launch the Pulse Secure Method 1 Method 2 Windows 10 - Select - Select All Apps - Select Pulse Secure - Select Open Pulse Secure Windows 8 - Search in the Windows Tiles Screen - Select Open Pulse Secure Windows 7 and Vista - Select icon - Select Pulse Secure - Select Open Pulse Secure PolyU Admin VPN Service Installation and User Guide Page 4

6 3) Select + to add a new connection 4) Enter connection profile information Type: Policy Secure (UAC) or Connect Secure(VPN) Name: PolyU VPN URL: Other fields keep unchanged Click Add PolyU Admin VPN Service Installation and User Guide Page 5

11 5. SSLVPN Logout Procedure It is recommended to logout your SSL VPN session after your office works completion. Please follow the procedures below to logout the session according to your platform.
