1 COINS Ti Call Management System Standard Installation Instructions for Citrix Users COINS recommends that the System Administrator or staff trained in both UNIX and Citrix installation processes perform the installation of COINS Ti. 2 Before Installing CMS Prior to installing COINS Ti, test the TCP/IP connection of the Citrix server by successfully connecting to COINS on the UNIX host. Correct any connection problems before installing COINS Ti. The Citrix server on which you install the COINS Ti User Interface Manager (UIM) must be able to connect to the COINS/COINS Ti server via TCP/IP. Installing CMS for the First Time Note Every effort was made to ensure the accuracy of the installation information presented here. In the event that you have a problem or concern with the installation, please contact COINS Client Support. There are several steps to setting up the Call Management System. 1. Install the COINS version 7/COINS Ti update on the server. 2. Install the CMS on the Citrix server. 3. Run CMS on the PC to test the connection. Exit all other applications running on the Citrix server before beginning the installation process. 1. Install COINS Update If you received COINS update media (e.g., a tape or diskette) in addition to the Software Installation CD that contains CMS, install the update first. The COINS update includes updated COINS version 7 and COINS Ti programs that need to be installed on the server before users can install and use CMS. Follow the installation instructions that accompany the update media. Contact COINS Technical Services if you need additional assistance loading the COINS update. PLEASE NOTE: You must have COINS version 7 running on Progress 9 (i.e., software level 9.7c2.xx) running on your UNIX server in order to run CMS and COINS Ti. 2. Prepare to Install CMS Before beginning the installation process on a PC, exit all other applications running on the PC. 08/05/2004, rev. 01/26/2009, 05/25/11 2

3 You should also check the Start Menu for earlier versions of CMS. If CMS has already been installed on this PC, skip the rest of this section. Instead, go to Updating a Previously Installed Version of CMS beginning on page 10 and follow the instructions for updating CMS. 3. Install CMS on the Citrix Server The Installer includes several installation programs, since a number of applications need to be installed or updated. These include Visual J#.Net setup and the Call Management System. 1. Make sure no one is using the Citrix server. 2. Exit all applications running on the Citrix server. 3. Go to the Control Panel and click the Add/Remove Programs option. 4. Click the Install button. Note: It is important that you use Add/Remove Programs, not the CD auto-run feature, to install the COINS Ti software on the Citrix server. 5. Place the Software Installation CD in the CD-ROM drive. On the Install Program From Floppy Disk or CD-ROM screen, click Next. 6. On the Run Installation Program screen, use the Browse button to navigate to the CD-ROM directory. Select launch.exe. 7. Enter the appropriate information as the system prompts you for it. 8. When the Change User Option screen displays, check the All users begin with common application settings radio button Complete the remaining information as the system prompts you for it. The main installation screen appears. 10. Click on the COINS Windows Products button. 11. Click on the software level that begins with 9.7c2. This is the only software level that works with CMS. It is critical for CMS on the Citrix server to match the software installed on the COINS host machine. 2 1 This screen displays if you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000 Professional. 2 To determine the software level on the host machine, connect to the COINS host machine and start to sign into COINS. 4 12. Click on the CMS button. Note: The window shows all the products available for the selected software level, but you may only install products for which you have license keys. 13. Click the OK button to start installing CMS and the.net products that it requires. A. Visual J#.Net Setup Wizard The first phase of the installation is to install the Visual J#.Net Redistributable Package. Follow the prompts in the Setup Wizard. 1. On the Welcome screen, click Next to continue with the setup. 2. Accept the License Agreement by clicking I agree and click Next to continue. 3. Accept the Visual J#.NET Developer Agreement by clicking I agree and click Next to continue. 4. A message displays on the screen when the installation is complete. Click OK to continue. The Call Management System Setup Wizard appears automatically as soon as the Visual J#. Net Setup is complete. B. Call Management System Setup The next phase of the installation is the installation of CMS itself. The Call Management System Setup Wizard starts automatically as soon as the setup of ODBC and Visual J#.Net is complete. 1. Enter your name, your company name, and the CMS serial number from the CD holder. Click Next to continue. 2. On the Welcome screen for the CMS installation, click Next to continue with the installation. 3. Accept the default installation folder. This will vary, depending on where PROGRESS was installed on your system. 4. Click Next to start the installation of CMS. 5. Add System DSN connections for the ODBC data sources, as shown in Figure 1: Add System DSN Data Sources. You need a minimum of two data sources, one for the COINS Admin database and one for the COINS database that contains your company s Service Management data. You may set up additional DSN entries if you have more than one S/M database. See Updating ODBC Data Sources beginning on page 13 if you need to set up ODBC connections later. 08/05/2004, rev. 01/26/2009, 05/25/11 4

6 Figure 2: General Tab When Adding System DSN 7. Click Test Connect. Note Figure 2 shows sample data, not actual values. Your setting must be correct for your system. See Table 1: Fields for typical ODBC Data Source connections for a detailed explanation of the information you need to supply for each data source. The table includes space to record the settings that are appropriate for your system. 8. Click OK to save the configuration entry if you connect successfully. 9. Repeat this for each database to which you need to connect. 10. In the Login Configuration box (shown in Figure 3), specify the server name of the host. 08/05/2004, rev. 01/26/2009, 05/25/11 6

7 Figure 3: Login Configuration 11. An Installation Complete notice appears when CMS has been successfully installed. Click Close to exit. Table 1: Fields for typical ODBC Data Source connections Field Data Source Name A name to uniquely identify the data source (database) to which you will connect. Description A short description for the data source. Host Name The IP address or name of the machine where the data source is located, as specified in the hosts file on the UNIX server. Port Number The port number assigned to the data source on the host, as specified in the /etc/services file on the UNIX server. HotFix Installation Upon completion of the CMS installation, you may need to load a supplemental Microsoft Data Access Component update (HotFix). If the HotFix Installation screen appears: 1. Click Yes to accept the license agreement. 2. Click OK to install the HotFix. 3. Click OK to close the message window upon completion of the HotFix installation 3. Test CMS for Successful Installation After you install the CMS application on the Citrix server, test the application to ensure that it was successfully installed. Make sure you can use both the Daily View and the Weekly View. Do this on a PC that has the Citrix client installed on it. 1. Double-click on the COINS Ti icon. The COINS Ti Login window appears. 2. Enter your COINS Ti User ID in the User name field, and password in the Password field. 08/05/2004, rev. 01/26/2009, 05/25/11 8

9 3. From the drop down menu, select the database for which you set up a System DSN when you installed CMS. 4. Click the OK button. COINS Ti will open. 5. From the COINS Ti menu, double-click on Service Management > Call Management System. 6. Open a Daily and a Weekly view using the Scheduling Boards option on the menu bar. 10 Updating a Previously Installed Version of CMS The installation process is different if CMS was previously installed on the PC. In this case, you need to uninstall and then reinstall CMS. However, you only need to do a Repair installation of ODBC.Net and Visual J#.Net to load updated components and to ensure that there are no errors in the current installation. 1. Remove old versions of CMS (optional) You may want to remove the old version of CMS before you install the updated version in order to save disk space. Use the following procedure to uninstall CMS while preserving the System DSN information that you already have set up. 1. Make sure no one is using the Citrix server, and exit all applications running on the Citrix server. 2. Click on the Start button > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. 3. Choose Call Management System and then click the Remove button. 4. Confirm the file deletion by clicking Yes. Wait for the computer to tell you that the removal has been completed. 2. Reinstall CMS The next step is to reinstall CMS. This process is similar to doing a new installation, except that you will not be reinstalling the System DSN connections. 1. Go to the Control Panel and click the Add/Remove Programs option. 2. Click the Install button. Note: It is important that you use Add/Remove Programs, not the CD auto-run feature, to install the COINS Ti software on the Citrix server. 3. Place the Software Installation CD in the CD-ROM drive. On the Install Program From Floppy Disk or CD-ROM screen, click Next. 4. On the Run Installation Program screen, use the Browse button to navigate to the CD-ROM directory. Select launch.exe. 5. 11 6. When the Change User Option screen displays, check the All users begin with common application settings radio button. 3 Complete the remaining information as the system prompts you for it. 7. When the main installation screen appears, click on the COINS Windows Products button. 8. Click on the software level that begins with 9.7c2. This is the only software level that works with CMS. It is critical for CMS on the Citrix server to match the software installed on the COINS host machine Click on the CMS button. 10. Click OK to start installing CMS and the.net products that it requires. Separate installation wizards will walk you through the necessary steps. 11. Click Yes to install the Microsoft Visual J#.NET Redistributable Package, to ensure that you have all the.net files you need to run the latest update of CMS. 12. Click OK when the Visual J#.NET installation is complete. The Call Management System Setup Wizard automatically launches. 13. Enter your name, your company name, and the CMS serial number from the label on the CD holder. Click Next to continue. 14. On the Welcome screen for the CMS installation, click Next to continue with the installation. 15. Accept the default installation folder. This will vary, depending on where PROGRESS was installed on your system. 16. Click Next to start the installation of CMS. 17. The system asks if you want to reinstall each of the individual DSNs, as shown in Figure 4. Answer No unless you need to delete the old DSN information, for example if you have moved the database or changed the service or port information. 3 This screen displays if you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000 Professional. 4 To determine the software level on the host machine, connect to the COINS host machine and start to sign into COINS. 12 Figure 4: Reinstall DSN 18. The system will prompt for the login configuration. Use the default setting, even if it is blank as shown in Figure 5, and click Close. Figure 5: Login Configuration 19. An Installation Complete notice appears when CMS has been successfully installed. Click Close to exit. 20. Upon completion of the CMS installation, you may need to load a supplemental Microsoft Data Access Component update (HotFix). Click Yes to accept the license agreement. 21. Click OK to install the HotFix. 22. Click OK to close the message window upon completion of the HotFix installation 3. Test CMS for Successful Installation After the computer restarts, ensure that CMS was successfully installed by launching it and testing both the Daily View and the Weekly View. 13 Updating ODBC Data Sources You may set up additional data sources or edit the information for existing connections without repeating the installation process. Use the following instructions if you need to connect the Call Management System to more than one COINS database or if you were unable to complete the ODBC setup on the PC during the initial installation. 1. From the Windows Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools. 2. Double click the Data Sources (ODBC) icon. You are now in the Microsoft ODBC Administrator program. 3. Click on the System DSN tab. 4. Click Add to create the data source. 5. Select Merant BIT Progress SQL92 v9.1c as the driver for which you want to set up a data source. Click Finish to continue. 6. Enter the data source information on the General tab (as shown in Figure 2: General Tab When Adding System DSN on page 6). 7. Click Test Connect to test the connection. If you connect successfully, click OK to save the configuration. Repeat this process for each data source connection. 8. Once all the connections have been set up, click OK on the ODBC Data Source Administrator screen to save you changes and close the Administrator. 08/05/2004, rev. 01/26/2009, 05/25/11 13

14 Customizing CMS with Your Company s Logo In the lower right-hand corner of each Call Management System screen, there is a space for a company logo. The Call Management System installs with a default COINS logo, but you are welcome to replace it with your own company s logo. The logo must conform to the following specifications. It must be a color or gray-scale image (not black and white only). It must be saved as a GIF (Graphics Interchange Format). It must be exactly 130 pixels wide by 40 pixels high. The file name must be logo.gif. Once the graphic file has been prepared, place it in the CMS installation folder on each individual PC. This will override the original version of logo.gif in the CMS folder so that your company s logo will appear on the bottom of each CMS screen.
