3 1 Overview Please read the entire document before beginning. This document covers the installation of third-party components used with Relius Administration 12.0 Web and VRU. If you are unclear about this installation, please contact Support at , option 3. Scope The installation of Relius Administration 12.0 Web/VRU is divided into three parts: database, component, and Web/VRU installations. This document covers the component installation. Both upgrades and new installations must follow the procedures detailed herein for a successful implementation of Relius Administration 12.0 Web/VRU. The component installation is available on CD. This CD must be installed before Relius Administration 12.0 Web/VRU. Do not install this CD until you have downloaded RA 12.0 Web/VRU and are ready to install it. Once the components are in place, the RA 12.0 Web/VRU installation can then be run. System Requirements The component CD will not install to systems that do not meet the minimum requirements. Systems that fall between the minimum and recommended standards will receive a warning message, stating that clients should consider upgrading soon. Servers that meet or exceed the recommended standards will not receive any notices. Web VRU Minimum Recommended Minimum Recommended Processor 800 MHz 2.0 GHz 500 MHz 1.0 GHz RAM 1024 MB 2 GB 512 MB 1024 MB Drive Space 500 MB 2 GB 500 MB 2 GB Resolution 800 x x 768 Process The installation of Relius Administration 12.0 Web/VRU involves the following basic procedures: 1) Read and understand this document and the accompanying Relius Administration 12.0 Web/VRU Update document. 2) Ensure your database has been properly exported and backed up.

4 3) Install Oracle 10g Client. 4) Install the Relius Administration Component CD. (This installation.) 5) Install Relius Administration 12.0 Web/VRU. 6) Configure your Web and VRU servers as necessary.

5 2 Performing the Relius Administration 12.0 Web/VRU Component Installation In most cases where an update of an existing Relius Administration Web or VRU server is performed and Windows Update is regularly run, the majority of these components will already be properly installed and not updated by this process. Pre-installation Notes: a) This installation is valid for Windows 2000 Pro or Server for VRU servers and Windows Server 2003 (Web, Standard, and Enterprise Editions) for Web servers. All references to Windows, unless otherwise noted, are also valid for the above named operating systems. b) Run Scandisk (also known as Analyze ) to check the integrity of your hard drive and have any problems resolved before installing this release. c) Be sure no screen saver will become active during the installation. SunGard Relius discourages the use of screen savers whenever running Relius Administration or its Installer. d) Many support files will be installed to the System directory, normally C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 (on Windows 2000) or C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 (on Windows XP). e) The installation process takes approximately 1/2 hour to complete, depending on the number of components being installed and the speed of your workstation. For example, if the Oracle client is already installed on a Windows XP workstation whose Microsoft.NET is up-to-date, the Oracle client and.net installations should be skipped, saving a considerable amount of time. The only Step that will be repeated regardless of installation status is Step 2.18, Crystal.NET files. f) Review the Relius Administration 12.0 Web/VRU system requirements located on our web site ( Do not proceed with the update if your environment does not meet the minimum system requirements. g) Any components that are already installed and properly configured on your system will be skipped during this procedure.

6 2.1 Remove any icons or shortcuts from the StartUp folder. Services (such as real-time virus scanning) that may impede or interfere with the installation should be stopped and set to Manual before proceeding. Additionally, programs that are set to launch when Windows is started can also be specified in C:\WINDOWS\WIN.INI. Please edit this file using Notepad. Temporarily remark the entries RUN= and LOAD= by placing a semi-colon ( ; ) in front of the line (if programs are specified), then Save and Exit the WIN.INI file. Example of remark: ;RUN=EXAMPLE.EXE 2.2 Re-start the computer. Windows or other programs may have locked some files that need to be overwritten during the update process. 2.3 Temporarily disable all virus protection. 2.4 Insert the Relius Administration Component CD for Workstations into your CD-ROM drive. Click Start, then Run and type D:\Setup.exe in the command box (where D: is your CD-ROM drive), then click OK. 2.5 This installation assumes that Oracle is already installed and configured. Standalone systems require the Personal Oracle 10g database. Systems using networked databases require the Oracle 10g Client.

7 2.6 If your system does not meet the recommended hardware standards, you will receive a message encouraging you to upgrade or replace your equipment in the near future. Systems that fall short of the minimum hardware standards will not allow the installation to continue. 2.7 At the Welcome screen, click Next.

8 2.8 A preliminary set of files will be copied to your system. 2.9 If Windows Installer 3.1 has not yet been installed or configured on your computer, it will be installed now.

9 2.10 If necessary, Microsoft Data Access Components 2.8 will install. When the MDAC installation is complete (or upon reboot if necessary), a DOS screen will briefly appear. This is normal and expected Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 will then install. This process takes several minutes.

10 2.12 At the first screen, click Next You will be prompted to accept the license agreement. Check the box marked I accept and click Next.

11 2.14 Do not interrupt the process. It will take several minutes to finish, and the flood bar may not necessarily reflect the precise time to completion When.NET has completed, you will see this screen. Click Finish.

12 2.16 When the installation has finished, you will see the screen below. Be sure Yes, I want to restart my computer now is selected, and click Finish After logging back on, you may see a DOS window appear (SECEDIT.EXE) momentarily, as well as a Control Panel setup window. These are normal and expected. Do not interrupt the processes that are running. They will close on their own.

13 2.18 If action was taken in Step 2.1, restore the icons or shortcuts that were temporarily removed from the StartUp group or folder and remove the remark from the RUN= and LOAD= statements from WIN.INI. Restart any services that were temporarily set to Manual and if necessary place them back in Automatic mode Repeat the process of installing the Relius Components on each Web/VRU server, beginning with Step You are now ready to run the Relius Administration 12.0 Web/VRU installation.
