Installation Documentation References Table 4: Installation Documentation References Document M3 Workstation Overview and Installation Technical Bulletin M5 Workstation Installation Technical Bulletin Operator Workstation Technical Bulletin Installing and Commissioning Metasys Web Access Technical Bulletin M-Tool Overview and Installation Technical Bulletin Metasys Historical Data Visualization Installation Bulletin Installing AspenTech InfoPlus.21 Historian Technical Bulletin LIT Number LIT LIT LIT LIT LIT LIT LIT Installation/Upgrade Sequence Upgrade Notes When you install or upgrade Johnson Controls software products, we recommend following the installation/upgrade sequence described in this document which is the only tested installation/upgrade sequence. Please read the following notes before upgrading any Metasys software. Installing software over a previous release of the software overwrites sample and template files. Back up those files before installing a new version of the product. Data files are not removed. Do not uninstall components with the Windows Add/Remove Programs feature. The installation process performs the proper uninstalls.

9 Metasys Installation and Platform Requirements Technical Bulletin 9 If you upgrade any of the Johnson Controls Metasys software on a computer, you must upgrade all components on that computer to the latest release. A warning appears in the M-Tool install if it detects Version 1.x of the M3 Workstation. It states that upgrading the M-Tool makes the M3 Workstation unusable. Proceed with the M-Tool installation, then immediately upgrade the M3 Workstation. Once both installs finish, both products work. M-Authorize Table 5 describes when reauthorization is required after upgrading. Refer to the Upgrade Authorization form shipped with the software and Using M-Authorize Technical Bulletin (LIT ). Table 5: Re-authorization Requirements Upgrading From Upgrading To Reauthorize Required M5 Workstation Release 1.x M5 Workstation Release 5.1 Yes M5 Workstation Release 2.x M5 Workstation Release 5.1 Yes M5 Workstation Release 5.0 M3 Workstation Release 5.1 No M3 Workstation Release 2.x M3 Workstation Release 5.1 Yes M3 Workstation Release 3.0 M3 Workstation Release 5.1 Yes M3 Workstation Release 3.1 M3 Workstation Release 5.1 No M3 Workstation Release 5.0 M3 Workstation Release 5.1 No M3 Workstation Installation/Upgrade Sequence Note: If you do not own one of the components listed, skip to the next component. 1. Install M-Tool (Configuration Tools, then System Tools). 2. Install M3 Workstation with optional M-Graphics. 3. Install applications in any sequence: M-Historian, MDV, MHDV, MMX. M5 Workstation Installation/Upgrade Sequence Notes: To install the M5 Workstation software on a system using the ARCNET networking protocol, install TCP/IP services and bind to the Microsoft Dial-Up Adapter. TCP/IP does not function, for M5 Workstation purposes, if it is not bound. For systems connecting to an Ethernet network, TCP/IP should be bound to the Ethernet adapter.

10 10 Metasys Installation and Platform Requirements Technical Bulletin MWA Installation Sequence If TCP/IP services have not been installed and bound before beginning the M5 Workstation installation, the installation stops after the system analysis procedure. Refer to Microsoft Windows online help system, or the Microsoft Windows 98 Resource Kit, Microsoft Windows NT Resource Kit, or Microsoft Windows 2000 Resource Kit. For Metasys Networks, install Metasys Release or later. All users accessing Metasys N1 Networks must upgrade to Metasys Release or later prior to installing M5 Workstation. Refer to the Upgrading the M5 Workstation on an N1 Network in the Installing the M5 Workstation Technical Bulletin (LIT ). For BACnet /N30 networks, upgrade all N30 controller firmware to Release 5.0 or later. Refer to N30 Supervisory Controller Installation Technical Bulletin (LIT ). If you do not own one of the components listed, skip to the next component. 1. Install M-Tool software (Configuration Tools, then System Tools) to engineer integrated N30 networks. 2. Install Metasys PMI software to engineer integrated N1 networks. Note: If you use the PREP-FOR utility, you must use it before you install the M5 Workstation software. 3.
