1 Release notes Milestone XProtect Corporate 2013 R2 November 7, 2013 XProtect Corporate 2013 R2 High performance for high security XProtect Corporate is powerful IP video management software (VMS) designed for largescale and high-security deployments. Its single management interface enables efficient administration of the system including all cameras and security devices, regardless of its size or if it is distributed across multiple sites. For systems demanding supreme situational awareness and precise response to incidents, XProtect Corporate features interactive maps linked to alarms and built-in support for Milestone s video wall functionality. XProtect Corporate provides the ultimate system reliability for high-security installations. Edge Storage support combined with Failover Recording Servers and redundant management servers ensure video recordings are never interrupted and access to the system is always maintained. What s new in XProtect Corporate 2013 R2 With XProtect Corporate 2013 R2, Milestone strengthens its distributed surveillance solution offering by including XProtect Corporate, XProtect Expert, Milestone Arcus and the Milestone Husky series of appliances to the list of products that can be connected to an XProtect Corporate system using Milestone Interconnect. In conjunction with the release of XProtect Corporate 2013 R2, Milestone simplifies the licensing of Milestone Federated Architecture to make it easier to deploy distributed surveillance across different legal entities. XProtect Corporate 2013 R2 is bundled with a new release of XProtect Smart Wall 2013, and the latest versions of XProtect Smart Client, XProtect Web Client and Milestone Mobile.

2 Milestone Interconnect With XProtect Corporate 2013 R2, Milestone extends the range of XProtect VMS products that can be interconnected with XProtect Corporate to include: - XProtect Corporate 5 and newer versions - XProtect Expert 2013 and newer versions XProtect Corporate 2013 R2 also supports the connection of Milestone Arcus embedded appliances and Milestone Husky series of NVRs. This enables customers who have initially deployed a number of standalone Milestone Arcus or Milestone Husky units to link the systems with a centralized monitoring solution using Milestone Interconnect and use XProtect Corporate as the central hub for surveillance operations. This offers the option of centralizing all surveillance operations including evidence handling and system administration across multiple independent systems Please refer to Milestone s website ( for the latest overview of VMS systems that are compatible with Milestone Interconnect. Simplified licensing of Milestone Federated Architecture Customers can now freely deploy federated systems with XProtect Corporate and XProtect Expert across different legal entities without the need for additional licenses The previous requirement to hold a license for XProtect Corporate Milestone Federated Architecture Device has been removed when establishing Milestone Federated Sites across different legal entities XProtect Smart Wall 2013 XProtect Smart Wall 2013 is the latest version of Milestone s video wall solution that provides full support for distributed surveillance installations based on Milestone Federated Architecture or Milestone Interconnect For further details, please refer to the separate release notes for XProtect Smart Wall Latest suite of XProtect clients XProtect Smart Client 2013 R2 offers new functions when used with XProtect Corporate 2013 R2 o The option to export in MKV format* enables video to be exported in the same format as it was originally recorded and can be viewed with a standard video player software**

3 o Simplified Smart Client Player offers an intuitive and optimized user interface with the option to switch between Simple and Advanced modes XProtect Web Client 2013 R2 contains a minor update providing general improvements based on customer feedback Milestone Mobile 2013 R2 introduces o In addition to the existing support for Apple and Android devices, Milestone Mobile 2013 R2 introduces support for Windows Phone 8 devices, giving users a wider choice of mobile devices to access their Milestone video surveillance systems o A new welcome screen provides users with easier access to add new servers or trial Milestone Mobile using the Demo Server o The option to nominate one server as the default, enabling automatic login to the specified server when launching Milestone Mobile o The ability to hide the Milestone Demo Server, if needed * Only applicable to video recorded in H.264, JPEG or MPEG 4 (except for MPEG4 short header mode), and as long as privacy masking is not enabled ** Requires that the codec used to record the video originally is installed on the computer used to playback the MKV video file For further details, please refer to the individual client release notes. The next planned release will be in a 64-bit version that requires an 64-bit Windows operating system Included XProtect components XProtect Corporate 2013 R2 ships with the following associated XProtect software products: XProtect Smart Wall 2013 XProtect Smart Wall is a part of the XProtect Corporate installer, and runs as an embedded component in the management server and the XProtect Smart Client. Licensing To simplify the Milestone Federated Architecture license requirements, the XProtect Corporate Milestone Federated Architecture Device License (XPCOMFADL) has been removed. Therefore, it is now possible to deploy federated systems with XProtect Corporate and XProtect Expert across different legal entities without additional licenses. All other licensing aspects of XProtect Corporate will remain unchanged.
