1 Setting Up A New Zebra ZQ510 Mobile Printer For Use With the Church Community Builder Check-in App Part 1: Install the Zebra Setup Utility Setup of the printer will also require a Micro USB cable (not provided). This is the same cable that comes with most Android Cell Phones or can be purchased at most any store that sells USB products, i.e. Wal Mart, Target, Best Buy, Office Depot. Before we do any printing we first need to install the Setup Utility, provided free by Zebra. This Utility will be the basis for setting up the functionality of your new ZQ510 Mobile Printer to work with the Church Community Builder Check-in App. The install file for this can be found on their website at 1. Open the install file that was downloaded from Zebra and Click Next 1

2 2. Accept the terms of the license agreement and Click Next 3. Leave the Default Destination Folder information and Click Next. (It may be worth noting the location of this folder for future use. 2

3 4. Select who you wish to have access to this program. For ease of use, It is recommended that you keep the default setting of Anyone who uses this computer (all users). 5. At this point if you wish to make any changes you can Click Back or you can Click Next. 3

4 6. The Utility will install all the necessary files for you to configure your printer 7. Once that process is complete you will be presented with this window. Check the I have read the information above and Click Next to proceed to the final page. 4

5 8. Once it has finished you will be given the option to either Run Zebra Setup Utilities now or if you Uncheck that box it will close the setup wizard. 9. You should now see the Zebra Setup Utility icon on your desktop. To proceed we will double click on that icon and begin setting up the printer itself. 5

6 Part 2 : Setting up the Bluetooth During this part of the setup you may need to wake your printer a few times. Once your printer is set up and in use even if it goes to sleep the print command will wake it as long as it has not fully shut down. Next we will go through the steps required to set up your printer to work using Bluetooth. This will require a mini usb cable (not provided)* and may require a power cord or adapter if the printer has not been previously charged. 1. Turn on your Zebra ZQ510 Mobile printer by pressing the Power button located on the front of the device. Take a USB cord that has a mini USB end and plug it to the printer, plug the other end into your PC. 2. You Windows system should automatically begin the install process for the printer and drivers. Upon seeing this window or a notification that the printer has been successfully installed you can move on to Step 3. As a secondary measure you can navigate to Devices and Printers and you should see a new printer with the label ZDesigner ZQ510 (CPCL). 6

7 3. Once you have verified installation of the printer. Double Click on the Zebra Setup Utility icon, located on your desktop and you will see the main screen of the Utility, which allows for customization of the printer, we will focus solely on setting up the Bluetooth. 7

8 4. Click on the Configure Printer Connectivity button (pictured above). This will open a new window that will give you two options Wireless and Bluetooth. Select Bluetooth and then Click Next. 5. In the next window you will be presented with configuration options. Please set according to the picture below and then Click Next. 8

9 6. In the next window you will be asked to double check all your configuration setting that will be set to the printer. It should look similar to this (below). If you are satisfied with this Click Next. 9

10 7. Last step, in the final window of the setup wizard you will be asked if you wish to save this configuration as a file OR send it to the printer. You will want to select Send to Printer and Click Finish. This will send all the configurations to your printer and then allow you to move to your ipad for pairing. 10

11 Part 3 : Pairing your ipad and Printer Finally we will go through the steps necessary to pair your ipad/ipad Mini with your newly configured Zebra ZQ510 Mobile Printer. 1. On your ipad/ipad Mini navigate to the Settings App. 11

12 2. In the Settings Menu you will tap on Bluetooth on the top left of your options and then make sure it is turned on (indicated by a green coloring next to the slider. If it is not turned on simply tap that slider. 12

13 3. After a few seconds you should see your options available for connecting to any Bluetooth devices in the area. You are looking for the one that matches your printers friendly name that you gave it back in Part 2. Once you see it tap on that name. 13

14 4. Next, you will likely be asked to Pair the devices. This code will match one on your printer and you simply tap the Pair option. 14

15 5. Once it is paired your Bluetooth settings should look similar to this and you will be ready to open up your Check-in App and start printing tags. 15

16 Part 4: Alternate Printer Install If Windows fails to install the printer or driver properly you can use the alternate method of installing the printer on the PC. This is done by using the Zebra Setup Utility. 1. To begin, you will open the Zebra Setup Utility on your Desktop by double clicking on the icon. You should see this window if this is the first printer you have installed with this utility 16

17 2. Next, you will be presented with the option to Finish or go through a Manual setup. In most cases it will be best to choose Finish. 3. Upon clicking Finish, you will be taken into the Zebra Setup Utility home screen. Here you will select Install New Printer. 17

18 4. In the next few windows you will walk through the setup wizard. Please Click Next. 5. Click Install Printer button at the top of this list. 18

19 6. Choose your printer. What you are looking for is the ZDesigner ZQ510 (CPCL). Once selected please Click Next. 7. Next you will choose the port. Please choose USB001 and Click Next. 19

20 8. Uncheck these boxes and Click the Finish Button. 9. Once successfully installed you will be taken to the Zebra Setup Utility Home Page again. You should now see your printer in the listing box. 20
