Programming Requirements ix. Tips for Programming TPMC-8X TPMC-8X Release Notes Version file: tpmc-8x_ csz build date: 18-Feb-2009 Resolved a hearbeat/reconnect issue. Where the device can be ping'd but the device would not reconnect to the control system. Skype calls cannot be made. While an intercom call is active, only audio received by the intercom application will be heard. All other panel audio will be muted. Muting the "microphone in" and/or "wave out" does not affect the intercom application's audio. When performing a "restore" on the panel, the registry setting used by the intercom application aren't preserved resulting in the intercom application no longer functioning. Intercom application doesn't switch between internal and external speakers when the panel is docked. A "forcedisconnect" must be sent after a "disconnect" in a TPMC-to-Barix intercom connection for the TPMC to end the connection. Embedded applications aren't closed when an intercom call is established (workaround: close applications using joins when call is established). Holding hard buttons 3&7 will turn off the display, holding buttons 3&8 will turn on the

2 Page 2 of 10 display. Intercom will not work when docked in wall mount and external speakers are in use. Wireless tab disappears (workaround available see Missing Wireless Tab Issue). Can not transfer files through Toolbox to drives listed under File Manager. Use the console XPUT instead. Certificate manager dialog pops-up behind the security dialog. Version file: tpmc-8x_ csz build date: 15-Oct-2008 Fixed issue where a button press was sent after panel exited standby. Added intercom support. NOTE: In order to best utilize the intercom, you will need a panel that has the improved microphones. Panels with serial numbers starting at # or greater are built with the improved microphones. Corrected intercom connect issue when panel resumes from suspend. Fixed an intercom timing out issue when idle. Corrected issue in intercom application where the status wasn't being properly reported to the control system when a connection attempt failed. Intercom ignores new connections when a connection already established. Intercom utilizes a forced disconnect command. Fixed issue where panel would remain muted after intercom call ended. Improved quick connection logic. Modified message pop-ups. DNAV Support. Programming Requirements To program the TPMC-8X, the following compatible product versions are required: VTPro-e version or later SIMPL Window version or later Control Systems OS version or later CresDB (Crestron Database) version or later Toolbox version or later Tips for Programming The TPMC-8X is a complex product requiring knowledge in many areas. This section is intended to shed light in certain areas to help the programmer speed up development and optimize run-time performance. i. Wallmount Docking Station ii. Biometric Fingerprint Scanner iii. Missing Network Wireless Tab iv. Desktop Cradle Docking Station v. Setup Screen vi. Embedded Applications vii. Network Connections viii. Projects

8 Page 8 of 10 Wallmount Docking Station The wallmount docking station (TPMC-8X DSW) has 2 types of modes: 'standard' and 'lock-down' modes. In 'standard' mode the panel can be removed by anyone. In 'lock-down' mode the panel can only be removed by entering a passcode. There are a total of 6 passcodes (which are alpha-numeric and case-sensitive) that can be entered. Five of the passcodes are configured from the setup screen, the sixth passcode is configured through the SMPL device extender. Regardless of what mode ('standard' or 'lock-down') the panel is in, you will always be able to release the panel from the setup menu, the SMPL device extender and through the console. Hardbutton #4 can be used to release the panel from the DSW. By default it is enabled, it can be disabled through the setup menu. Look under the 'Configure' button on the 'Docking Station Status' menu. A release pop-up icon will appear in your display project when the panel is docked. The pop-up icon can be disabled through the setup menu. Look under the 'Configure' button on the 'Docking Station Status' menu. The pop-icon can be visually modified through VTPro-e. The 'passcode' dialog appears when the panel is in 'lock-down' mode. The entry of the passcode can be obfuscated with an asterisk. By default the obfuscation is enabled. The obfuscation can be disabled through the setup menu. Look under the 'Configure' button on the 'Docking Station Status' menu. When obfuscation is disabled, the passcode entry in the dialog will be plain text. The colors of the 'passcode' dialog can be configured. Look under the 'Diagnostic' button - > 'Configure Messages'. Biometric Fingerprint Scanner The biometric database contains 3 types: user, categories and events. Categories are a way to group multiple users. For each category added, you can select a join/value and an automatic action. When categories are added, they can be associated with multiple users (ex. Add an Admin category. Then, when you enroll a user, you can associate the Admin category to a user when you enroll/edit the user). Events are system initiated triggers. They are predefined, and can not be added or removed. For each event in the system, you can select a join/value and an automatic action (ex. When the 'finger detected' event occurs, you can have the panel send serial join with a value that states 'A finger has been detected'). Users are enrolled through the 'Add' button in the 'User ID' section, on the first tab of the Biometrics setup page. Or for an already enrolled user, the 'Add' button in the 'Finger' section will add another finger for the currently selected user. The user is represented by a unique ID (maximum of 23 characters, and universally unique on the panel). Each user can have a full user name stored (max 255 characters), category associated, join/value selection and an automatic action. The user database is optimized for a small number of users. With about 30 users enrolled, it will take the panel about 10 secs (worst case scenario) to match the user. Add another 5 secs to the time for every additional 10 users enrolled. Future firmware enhancements will handle large scale installations of 75+ enrolled users. Triggers (join/values, automatic action) are driven in sequence by: 1. System Event Settings 2. User Settings

9 Page 9 of Category Settings 'Biometric Messages' are displayed when the fingerprint scanner is used. The messages can be disabled. Look under the 'Diagnostic' button -> 'Configure Messages'. When disabled, the biometric scanner will identify/match and trigger actions and events. To disable the biometric scanner altogether, look under the 'Biometric' button -> 'Enable/Disable'. When disabled, the biometric scanner will not identify/match and thus no actions or events will be triggered. Missing Wireless Tab If your panel has the 'Wireless Networks' tab missing on the adapter configuration dialog for the wireless adapter. Use the 'Reset WiFi' button to restore the WiFi adapter to factory defaults. The 'Reset WiFi' button is located on the Ethernet -> Adapters dialog (lower left corner). The missing tab should be located on the Ethernet -> Adapters -> 'Intel Pro/Wireless 2915' Configuration dialog. The tab 'Wireless Networks' will be missing. When the 'Reset WiFi' button is pressed, the panel will reboot twice in order for the WiFi adapter to be set to the factory defaults. Docking Station Adapter If your panel can not retain the settings configured for the Docking Station Adapter after reboots, you need to install a package that sets up the Docking Station Adapter. The install package is launched from the Setup pages. Click the 'Install' button and select the 'TPMC- 8X Docking Station' and then 'OK'. This will reboot the panel into a mode that allows you to choose the Desktop Station setup module. Choose z:\docksetup as the setup module. Make sure the panel is on the Docking Station and the AC line is plugged-in to the Docking Station, and hit 'OK'. Follow the directions on the screen. Once the install is complete and the panel has been rebooted, you will be able to make changes the Docking Station Adapter and commit the changes through a Save & Reboot. This update is only required to be installed once. There is no need to install this update if your Docking Station Adapter is already committing the Docking Station Adapter changes after a Save & Reboot. Setup Screen Always press Save & Reboot button on the setup screen in order to commit your changes when prompted. Reboot using the power switch would lose some of the changes. Not all settings in the setup pages requires a Save & Reboot. You will be prompted when a Save & Reboot is required. Avoid shutting down the panel by holding down the power button for greater than 5 seconds. The preferred way is to go to the setup menu and press the shutdown button (reserve join). Setup screen now supports the installation of new firmware through the 'Update Panel' button. The firmware can be located on a USB drive or a shared network drive. Embedded Applications

10 Page 10 of 10 Always initialize application position and size analog values and serial path before sending in digital/analog value to open the application. This would ensure that the application window be created at the desired location with the file loaded without excessive flashing on screen. Do not to leave multiple applications open simultaneously to optimize the system performance. In order to programmatically open files on network resources (via serial join) that require a password, you should map the required drives as noted below. Users can browse the network using the file open dialogs but may need to enter a user name and password. Typing a full path name into the file open dialog will not work if there is not an existing connection. You must first type only the server and share name before adding subfolder names. Ex. \\my_server\some_share will prompt for a username and password but \\my_server\some_share\a_folder\mydoc.doc will only say the resource is unknown. Network Connections From the setup pages (Security) you can map commonly used network drives. All current connections are displayed for convenience, but only those labeled as persistent will be restored upon reboot. You can enter a username and password to automatically logon if you wish. This username and password will be stored as encrypted data on the TPMC-8X. If you do not supply a username and password (or if it is incorrect) you will be prompted upon restarting. If you are immediately prompted with a second request for a password, you probably do not have the proper credentials entered. You can test network mapping restoration by clicking on the "Close Browsed Network Connections" button. This would close all non-persistent connection and remap all persistent connections. If you receive the error "A specified logon session does not exist. It may have already been terminated." You may need to put in a domain or workgroup name as part of your username. For example, domain\username. The close network connections join (or button on the security page) will close ALL connections and then attempt to reconnect persistent drives. This will allow the user to reprompted for a password as noted above. In order to change or add a drive letter to an existing connection, you must remove it and re-add it. You can change the username, password, and whether the connection is to be remembered on existing connections. Project If one wants to upload the project to an external CF card, a sub-directory of the root must be used as the Project Working Path; otherwise uploading files may fail.
