5 1 About TouchPoint Console Configuration Overview TouchPoint Console Specifications Licensing Requirements Network Prerequisites About This Guide TouchPoint Console (TPC) devices are an integral part of the Equitrac Professional cost recovery solution. When integrated with Equitrac Professional version 5.2 or later, TPC controls user access to office machines, and gathers transaction data that is used to recover all client billable expenses: copies, prints, scans, faxes, and disbursements such as couriers and catering. TouchPoint Console places client/matter allocation directly at the user s fingertips. The compact LCD touch screen design enables fast and accurate allocation of document costs to the correct client matter or project. Each TouchPoint Console is connected to an output device via a manufacturer-specific foreign interface cable. Users must login to TPC and select verified client/matter codes before the output device is unlocked and ready for use. TouchPoint Console Installation and Setup Guide 5

6 Chapter 1: About TouchPoint Console TPC communicates with the Equitrac Professional server via Ethernet connection, and provides an Ethernet expansion port to connect the output device in a single network drop. 7 Chapter 1: About TouchPoint Console Configuration Overview In general, configuring TPC to work with Equitrac Professional 5.2 or later follows this workflow: 1 Physical setup and basic TPC local configuration Perform the physical setup and connections. Your copier technician will attach the copy control cable to the output device. You can then attach the remaining cables, power up TPC and run through the Installation Wizard to get TPC communicating on the network. Ensure that you record the IP Address of the DCE server. You will need this information to perform local TPC configuration. If using static IP addresses, also ensure that you have list of IP Addresses, and a method of recording which IP Address will map to which physical device. Instructions to complete these tasks are available in this Installation guide. See TPC Mounting and Setup on page 11 and Initial Local Configuration on page Upgrade the TPC platform and application firmware TPC ships with default version of the platform and application firmware. Upgrade to the latest versions prior to performing server-side configuration. Instructions to upgrade firmware are available in this Installation Guide. See Upgrade TouchPoint Console Firmware on page Server-side global TPC configuration and device assignment You must configure TPC configuration sets within Equitrac Professional 5.7, assign a configuration set to each TPC, and assign each TPC to a physical device within System Manager. There are also a few global TPC options that you need to set that determine system-wide behavior. If using card readers with TPC, you must also configure the card reader settings on the server. Instructions to complete these tasks are available in the Equitrac Professional Administration Guide. Refer to chapter "Configuring TouchPoint Consoles". 4 Additional local configuration After the server-side configuration is complete, you can then configure additional local TPC such as fax options, display and audio settings, etc. Instructions to perform this additional configuration are located in this Installation Guide. 9 Chapter 1: About TouchPoint Console Licensing Requirements Each TouchPoint Console consumes one Device Connector license from System Manager > Licenses within Equitrac Professional. The Equitrac Professional Standard Edition is licensed for 25 Device Connectors, and expansion packs can be purchased if required. Ensure that licenses are applied in System Manager prior to installing TPC. If TPC cannot find a license, errors will occur. Network Prerequisites If you are using DHCP to assign IP Addresses to TouchPoint Consoles, Equitrac recommends configuring the DHCP server to associate the DCE server by option 230. This value allows the DHCP server to locate and correctly identify the load file for TouchPoint Consoles. See DHCP on page 18 for instructions. About This Guide This guide provides physical setup and basic TPC configuration information only. You must also perform configuration tasks on the Equitrac Professional server to establish the capabilities and feature set that will be used on each TouchPoint Console. 12 Chapter 2: TPC Mounting and Setup Software Requirements TouchPoint Consoles work with Equitrac Professional version 5.7 or later. When you install and license the software appropriately, you can add and configure TouchPoint Consoles to release print jobs and to track photocopies, scans, disbursements, and faxes. Windows services and applications that control TouchPoint Consoles devices are included with the software. NOTE: Equitrac Professional may require an upgrade or downgrade of the TPC firmware and/or application in order to work correctly. 13 Chapter 2: TPC Mounting and Setup Hardware Requirements You should ensure that you have all the hardware provided with the Authentication Device: Power supply Power cable Bypass keys(2) See Using the Bypass Key on page /100 Base-T Ethernet network cables (2) In addition, you will need the following: Live Ethernet drop outlet USB keyboard (optional) CAUTION: Use only the keyboard that ships with the TPC. Use of any other keyboard may result in unexpected behavior. Copy Control If TPC will be used for copy control, you need a copier interface cable for your copier make and model. The copier interface cable is shipped with each TPC, but you must order the correct cable per controlled device. Fax Control If TPC will be used for fax control, you will need one RJ-11 telephone or fax cable per fax device. If you ordered a faxenabled TPC, two RJ11 Fax cables are shipped with TPC. Scan Control If TPC will be used for scan device control, you will need a foreign interface cable for your scan device make and model. The cable is available separately. To connect to an ecopy scan device, ecopy ScanStation version 7.1 or 8.01 is required. To connect to a Xerox MFP with Scan enabled, the MFP device must be configured as follows: SNMP protocol enabled and configured on port 161. SNMP GET Community Name set to public. Authentication Mode set to Foreign Interface Device. Where available, Foreign Interface Device s Inhibit Services enabled and set to All Services. RJ 11 Jacks for telephone connection (fax terminal only). Connect the other end to the wall connection. RJ 11 Jacks for fax device connection (fax terminal only). Connect the other end to the fax device. This port is intended for local On-Premises connection only and cannot be connected to building cabling. WARNING: Connecting the fax port to the building cabling voids the telecom approval. USB expansion port Ethernet Expansion Ethernet to Wall Serial Port Use these ports to attach a USB keyboard or any other USB device. RJ 45 Jack enables terminal to be used as a hub. Connect the other end to the device that TPC is controlling. RJ 45 Jack for Ethernet connection. Connect the other end of the cable to the wall jack. Standard serial communication port. If connecting a bar code reader, use this port. WARNING: Do not plug a device in both the serial port AND the external reader port, because doing so may cause electrical damage to TPC and/or your external device. If using a magstripe or proximity card reader, connect one end to this port, and the other end to the reader. Power supply connector Press once to turn TPC on, press again to turn TPC off. 16 Chapter 2: TPC Mounting and Setup To connect the hardware Ensure that the device and TPC power cables are physically disconnected from the power outlet prior before completing these steps. 1 Mount TPC on the mounting hardware. Follow the instructions provided with your mounting device (tabletop, wall or floor) to mount TPC. 2 Connect TPC to the controlled device. a Connect one end of the Device Control Cable (or foreign interface cable) to TPC and the other end to the device that TPC will control. NOTE: Have your copier technician connect the cable between the controlled device and TPC using instructions from the device manufacturer. Once TPC is powered up, you must change the scan device settings for Console support. b c Change the copier settings to use the key counter or vendor interface. These settings should disable the copier except when TPC has an active copying session. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the controlled device, and the other end to the TPC Ethernet Expansion port. NOTE: If TPC is used as a hub for another device and TPC loses power or is disconnected, the device connected to the Expansion port will not be connected to the network. 3 Connect TPC to the network. Plug one end of an Ethernet cable into the TPC Ethernet port, and then connect the other end to either an Ethernet hub, or to an Ethernet wall jack, if appropriate. 4 Connect any optional USB devices, such as a USB mouse or keyboard to one of the TPC USB Expansion Ports. 5 Connect fax cabling (optional) TPC supports one or two fax lines. You must purchase the fax-enabled version of TPC to capture fax transaction data. Per fax device: a b Connect one end of an RJ11 jack to a TPC Line Port, and the other end to the jack on the wall. Connect another RJ11 jack to the corresponding TPC Fax Port, and the other end to the Fax device s port. 6 Connect a card reader (optional) If using a magnetic stripe or proximity reader, connect the device to TPC External reader port. 7 Connect a barcode reader or serial device (optional) If using a barcode reader or other optional serial device, connect the device to the TPC Serial Port. 8 Connect the power supply. To connect the device to a power supply, use the power cable supplied with TPC. The LED Indicator light on the side of TPC (between the Bypass and On/Off switch) will turn yellow if TPC is receiving power and TPC will power up automatically. The LED Indicator light will turn green when the device is receiving power and is turned on. The first time a TPC is powered up, the Installation Wizard runs automatically. 17 3 Initial Local Configuration Identify the Server IP Address Assign the TouchPoint Console IP Address Set the Date, Time and Locale Upgrade TouchPoint Console Firmware The first time you power up a new (unconfigured) TouchPoint Console, the Installation Wizard runs automatically to help you establish communication with the Equitrac Professional DCE server. You must identify the DCE server s IP Address, and assign an IP Address to TPC. The Installation Wizard steps you through three required screens, then automatically reboots TPC to apply the settings. Follow these steps to perform the minimum configuration necessary to get TPC up and running and ready for use. 1 Identify the Server IP Address using one of three possible methods. Refer to Identify the Server IP Address on page 18 for instructions. 2 Assign the TouchPoint Console IP Address by either creating a new instance, or replacing an existing TPC and using the existing settings. Refer to Assign the TouchPoint Console IP Address on page Select the Date, Time, and Locale Synchronize the time and date to match the server settings. You can also change the soft keyboard layout if required. Refer to Set the Date, Time and Locale on page TPC reboots automatically. To access the Administrative options after the reboot, you must login in as administrative user. See Accessing the Administrative Options on page Update the TPC platform and application firmware. TPC ships from the manufacturer with default versions of the platform firmware and application layer. You must update the firmware to the latest versions prior to performing server-side configuration. See Upgrade TouchPoint Console Firmware on page 26. 18 Chapter 3: Initial Local Configuration Identify the Server IP Address TPC offers three different ways to obtain the IP Address of the DCE server: DHCP, DNS, or Static IP. Each option is described in the sections below. DHCP If you are using DHCP to assign IP Addresses to TouchPoint Consoles, you must first configure the DHCP server to associate the DCE server by option 230. This value allows the DHCP server to locate and correctly identify the correct load file for TouchPoint Consoles. The instructions below are specific to a Windows DHCP server. If your DHCP server runs on a different platform (for example UNIX, Linux, OS X server, OpenVMS, AS/400 DHCP servers), ensure that you configure the DHCP server to identify the correct load file under option 230. To Configure the DHCP Server: 1 On the DHCP server, in the Windows Administrative Tools, open the DHCP windows management console. 2 Select the DHCP server root node. 3 From the Action menu, select Set Predefined Options. 4 From the Option Class drop-down list, select DHCP Standard Options. 5 In the Option Name section, click Add. a In the Name field, type: Equitrac Professional NOTE: The Name field label is for identification purposes. 18 Equitrac Professional TouchPoint Console Installation and Setup Guide

19 Chapter 3: Initial Local Configuration b From the Datatype drop-down list, select String. c In the Code field, type 230. d 6 Click OK. In the Description field, type: Equitrac Professional 7 In the String Value section, enter EQ;B;<DCE Server IP address>; in the String field, where <DCE Server IP address> is the IP address of your DCE server. You also use the hostname instead of the IP address. NOTE: Make sure that you include the final semi-colon after the DCE IP address or hostname. The command will fail if it cannot find the final semi-colon. 8 Expand the Scope node and select Scope Options. 9 From the Action menu, select Configure Options. 10 Select Click OK to save the changes. To identify the DCE Server with DHCP: 1 On TPC, in the Server IP Setting screen, press DHCP - Option 230, then press OK. 2 Press the Test button. TCP creates a DHCP request to retrieve the server IP Address from option 230. The data retrieved is displayed under the Current Setting field. If successful, you should see the following under Current Settings: Method - DHCP (230) Primary Server - x.x.x.x Where x.x.x.x is replaced with the retrieved IP Addresses. 3 Press OK to continue to the Date, Time, and Locale screen. 20 Chapter 3: Initial Local Configuration Server Hostname You can also identify the DCE server by the name assigned by the Domain Name System (DNS). 1 On the Server IP Setting screen, press DNS, then press OK. 2 In the Server Hostname screen, enter the Primary Server Name. NOTE: If you do not have a hard keyboard attached to TPC, press the Soft keyboard button to access the soft keyboard screen for data entry. Press the Enter key when finished to return to the Server Hostname screen. These fields accept up to 255 characters only. 3 Press Test. TPC attempts to resolve the names and ping the DCE server. In the Ping Test Results area, you should see a PASSED or FAILED message. If you see a FAILED message, ensure that you have correctly entered the name of the primary server before continuing. Press Test again to re-try the ping. 4 Press OK to continue to the Date, Time, and Locale screen. 20 Equitrac Professional TouchPoint Console Installation and Setup Guide

21 Chapter 3: Initial Local Configuration Static IP If using static IPs on your network, enter the IP Address of the primary DCE server. 1 On the Server IP Setting screen, press Static IP, then press OK. 2 In the Server Static IP screen, enter the Primary DCE Server IP Address. Press Enter to enable the Test button. 3 Press Test. TPC attempts to ping the DCE server by its IP Address. In the Ping Test Results area, you should see a PASSED or FAILED message. If you see a FAILED message, ensure that you have correctly entered the address of the primary server. Press Test again to re-try the ping. 4 Click OK to continue to the Date, Time, and Locale screen only when the test results read PASSED. 22 Chapter 3: Initial Local Configuration Assign the TouchPoint Console IP Address Each TouchPoint Console requires a valid IP Address to communicate with the server. When TPC is assigned an IP Address, TPC will appear in the list of devices in Equitrac Professional s System Manager as TPC device type. There are two methods to assign an IP Address to an existing TPC: replace an existing TPC and thereby use existing settings (including the IP Address), or create a new TPC and set a new IP Address. In the New or Replacement Console screen, all previously configured TPCs that are known to the server are listed. If replacing a TPC, ensure that the existing TPC has been taken offline and is no longer using the IP Address. If setting up a new TouchPoint Console (not previously configured), you must assign an IP Address using one of two methods: DHCP or Static IP. All methods are described below. Replace an existing console To replace an existing TPC, select the name of TPC you want to replace. TPC you are currently configuring will use the existing IP Address and configuration information already set for that TPC. 1 In the New or Replacement Console screen, press TPC you want to replace. 2 Press OK to copy the existing TPC settings. The settings for the pre-existing TPC are downloaded from the server. This may take a few minutes. When the download is complete, the Installation Wizard automatically advances to the Date, Time, and Locale screen. 23 Chapter 3: Initial Local Configuration Create a new Console To create a new instance of a TPC (rather than replacing an existing TPC), follow these steps: 1 In the New or Replacement Console screen, DO NOT select an existing TPC. Instead, ensure that no TPC is selected from the list, then press OK. 2 In the TouchPoint Console Name screen, enter a unique name for this new TPC. Optionally, enter a description that you can use to identify TPC. Typically, a good description involves TPC location or some other identifying factor. 3 Press OK to continue. 4 The Local IP Setting screen will appear, giving you two methods for setting the local IP: DHCP or Static IP. These methods are described in the sections below. To use DHCP: 1 Press DHCP, then click Test. Clicking Test tells TPC to contact the DHCP server for an IP Address. The Current Settings field updates when the Test is complete. If successful, you will see the following information under Current Settings: Method: DHCP IP Address - x.x.x.x Netmask - x.x.x.x Gateway - x.x.x.x Lease Time (mins) xxxxx 2 Press OK to continue to the Date, Time, and Locale screen. 24 Chapter 3: Initial Local Configuration To use Local IP - Static: If you elect to assign a static IP Address to each TouchPoint Console, ensure that each IP Address is unique and is not used by another device. You must also enter the Netmask and Gateway of your network if you use Static IP Addresses. 1 In the Local IP Setting screen, press Static IP. 2 In the Local Static IP screen, enter the following. CAUTION: Only decimal values are accepted. Do not use leading zeros, hex or octal values. Field Static IP Netmask Gateway Primary DNS Server Secondary DNS Server Description Enter a unique IP Address for this TPC Enter the netmask. Do not use leading 0 s. Enter the default gateway on your network. Do not use leading 0 s. Optional field. Enter the Primary Domain Name Server IP Address if necessary. Optional field. Enter the Secondary Domain Name Server IP Address if necessary. 3 Press Test. In the IP Address Check area, you should see a PASSED or FAILED message. TPC performs a network check to determine if the IP Address you entered is used for any other device. If not, you will see the PASSED message. If there is a conflict, you will see a FAILED message. Enter a different IP Address, then press Test again. 4 Press OK to continue to the Date, Time, and Locale screen. 24 Equitrac Professional TouchPoint Console Installation and Setup Guide

25 Chapter 3: Initial Local Configuration Set the Date, Time and Locale Date and time information is important for accurately capturing and recording transaction data. Although this release of TPC support English only, you can change the Soft keyboard layout to use region-specific characters such as the German umlaut. 1 To change the date and time, press the field you want to change the press the up/down arrows until you reach the correct value. 2 Ensure that you also select the correct time zone. Press Modify to view a complete list of available time zones. Select your time zone, then press OK to apply that time zone. 3 If you are in a region that complies with daylight savings, ensure the Use Daylight Savings Time option is set to Yes. 4 Click OK to apply all settings. The Information Bar will display the Updating the settings to the server message. This update may take up to one minute. TPC will then reboot automatically. NOTE: If you replaced an existing console that was already assigned to a physical device, TPC may require a second reboot after the first reboot is complete. CAUTION: TPC is now configured with basic settings and can communicate with the DCE server. Ensure that you immediately upgrade the firmware prior to allowing user access to this TPC. 26 Chapter 3: Initial Local Configuration Upgrade TouchPoint Console Firmware Your TouchPoint Console ships with up-to-date platform firmware and application data versions. Before allowing users to access TPC, use the compatibility information below to determine if the TPC application and/or firmware must be upgraded or downgraded to work with the installed version of Equitrac Professional. The Terminal Updater utility is installed on the Core Accounting Server in the Equitrac > Professional > Tools folder. NOTE: If you have already used the TPC Installation Wizard to setup TPC on the network, this tool will maintain your settings. Before you start Determine the type of Fax Board used in the TPC. Determining the version of fax board installed on the unit (if any) determines how the fax board must be configured. For detailed information about fax configuration, see Fax board discovery on page 44. Obtain the most recent platform and application firmware version from the Equitrac Partner portal and save the file on the Core Accounting Server. Platform firmware is a.bin format file and application firmware is a.zip format file. TPC must be connected to the network and it is helpful to know its IP Address. If you are updating more than one TPC, record the IP Addresses of all Consoles you want to update. You must have Administrative access on the Core Accounting Server to run this tool. Firmware considerations When installing a new, upgraded, or repaired TPC, the terminal software may be incompatible with older installations of Equitrac Professional. In these cases, the firmware must be downgraded. Downgrading the firmware follows the same process outlined in Update the firmware on page 27, but rather than new firmware, older firmware is used. There are specific firmware versions and applications that work with specific versions of Equitrac Professional. An Add device dialog opens. In the Device IP address field, enter the IP address of the TPC you want to update, then click OK. The TPC appears in the Terminal device list matrix. 3 From the Filter by device type drop-down list, choose TouchPoint Console, then press Refresh. 4 Under Advanced options, ensure Automatically restart after device is updated is unchecked. The selection highlights. 6 Under Select firmware, click Browse... to locate the TPC firmware update file in the Load firmware dialog. a b Click Update Firmware. Updating the firmware may take several minutes. The Select firmware list box is updated with the firmware file name. Click Update Application to locate and update the TPC application update file. 7 Click the Refresh button once the update completes. The TPC information is updated with the new versions in the Terminal device list. 8 After the firmware has updated, select the device from the list and click Restart to force it to reboot. Discovering TPCs on a subnet The Terminal Updater can search a specified subnet for valid terminal devices and publish all found devices, as well as their attributes and status, in the Terminal device list. 1 Click Discover. 2 Enter a valid sample device IP address. 3 Enter the subnet mask and click OK. The time required to complete the device discovery depends on the subnet range you specify. To stop a discovery that is in-progress, click Abort. You can customize the network connection timeout value, if desired. Select the Options > Timeout setting and, in the Connection field, enter a timeout value (in milliseconds), then click OK. If you enter a connection timeout of 0, the Terminal Updater replaces this time with the system-defined maximum value ( ), which represents approximately 49 days. Do not enter a value greater than this maximum. CAUTION: TPC is now configured with basic settings and can communicate with the DCE server. Ensure that you immediately perform the server-side configuration tasks outlined in the "Configuring TouchPoint Consoles" chapter of the Equitrac Professional Administration Guide. There are a number of other screens that offer local configuration per TPC. This section provides extensive information about logging into a TPC to access the Administrative Options, and in depth details about each option and when to change the defaults. Configure the fax device settings for the device controlled by TPC (if fax is available on the controlled device). Capture field diagnostics related to fax activity on the device. Adjust the touchscreen calibration to re-establish the touch parameters. Create a custom message that is displayed on the Login screen to notify users of events or system difficulties. 31 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Accessing the Administrative Options After you complete all required screens in the Installation Wizard (see Installation Wizard on page 32), TPC reboots automatically. To access the Administrative options, you must log in to TPC as Administrator. 1 On the Login screen, press Help > Admin Login. The screen updates to indicate that you are attempting an Administrative login, rather than a User login. 2 Login with the Administrator user name and password. The user name is eqadmin and the password is eqadmin. Press Enter to validate your user credentials. If your login is successful, you will see the main Administrative options screen, shown in the screen capture below. NOTE: When you logout of the Administrative options, TPC automatically resets the login screen to show the User login screen instead of the Administrator Login screen. 32 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Installation Wizard The Installation wizard steps through the minimum required configuration to enable TPC to communicate with the DCE on the network. The wizard launches automatically the first time you power up an unconfigured TPC. If you need to make network changes to an existing TPC setup (i.e. changing the IP Address) or if you want to replace an existing TPC, you can run the wizard to perform these tasks. CAUTION: If you need to rename TPC, ensure that you do not change the name from within the Installation Wizard. The Equitrac Professional server cannot reconcile TPC names when renamed through the Installation Wizard. Instead, press TouchPoint Console name from within the Administrative Options only. For complete information about the wizard, refer to Initial Local Configuration on page TouchPoint Console Installation and Setup Guide

33 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Network Set an IP Address for TPC. Use either DHCP to assign an address, or assign a static IP address. Each TPC must use a unique IP Address on the network. Allow DHCP to Assign an IP Address to TPC 1 Press DHCP, then click Test to have TPC contact the DHCP server for an IP Address. The Current Settings field updates when the Test is complete. If successful, you will see the following information under Current Settings: Method: DHCP IP Address - x.x.x.x Netmask - x.x.x.x Gateway - x.x.x.x Lease Time (mins) xxxxx 2 Press OK to save the change. 34 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Assign a Static IP Address to TPC: If you assign a static IP Address to each TouchPoint Console, ensure that each IP Address is unique and is not used by any other device. You must also enter the Netmask and Gateway of your network if you use Static IP Addresses. 1 In the Local IP Setting screen, press Static IP, then press OK. 2 In the Local Static IP screen, enter the following. CAUTION: Only decimal values are accepted. Do not use leading zeros, hex or octal values. Field Static IP Netmask Gateway Primary DNS Server Secondary DNS Server Description Enter a unique IP Address for this TPC. Enter the netmask. Do not use leading 0 s. Enter the default gateway on your network. Do not use leading 0 s. Optional field. Enter the Primary Domain Name Server IP Address if necessary. Optional field. Enter the Secondary Domain Name Server IP Address if necessary. 3 Press Test. In the IP Address Check area, you should see a PASSED or FAILED message. TPC performs a network check to determine if the IP Address you entered is used for any other device. If not, you will see the PASSED message. If there is a conflict, you will see a FAILED message. Enter a different IP Address, then press Test again. 4 Press OK to save the changes. 35 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration TouchPoint Console Name Each TPC must have a unique name with the Equitrac Professional system. The Equitrac Professional server uses this name to uniquely identify TPC, and TPC is listed by this name in the Devices list within System Manager. CAUTION: If you need to rename TPC, ensure that you do not change the name from within the Installation Wizard. The Equitrac Professional server cannot reconcile TPC names when renamed through the Installation Wizard. Instead, press TouchPoint Console name from within the Administrative Options only. Optionally, add a description (usually a reference to location or other identifying factor) to help differentiate TPC when looking at a list of TPCs. The description does not have to be a unique value. You can change TPC name at any time. WARNING: Do not change the TPC name or description if TPC is offline. While offline, TPC cannot contact the server to check for duplicate names. 1 On the Administrative Options screen, press TouchPoint Console Name. 2 In the Name screen, edit the Name and Description fields as necessary. NOTE: If you do not have a hard keyboard attached, press the Soft keyboard button to enter a new alpha numeric name or description. 3 Press OK to save the change. When you save the change, TPC contacts the DCE server to notify it of the change. A change to either the name or the description is also logged on the local TPC cache.if the server detects a duplicate name, TPC will ask if you want to replace the existing TPC. 36 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Date, Time, and Locale Date and time information is important for accurately capturing and recording transaction data. Although this release of TPC supports English only, you can change the Soft keyboard layout to use region-specific characters such as the German umlat. 1 On the Administrative Options screen, press Date, Time, and Locale. 2 To change the date and time, press the field you want to change the press the up/down arrows until you reach the correct value. 3 Ensure that you also select the correct time zone. Press Modify to view a complete list of available time zones. Select your time zone, then press OK to apply that time zone. 4 If you are in a region that complies with daylight savings, ensure the Use Daylight Savings Time option is set to Yes. 5 Press OK to apply all settings. When you log out of the Administrative Options, TPC contacts the DCE server to update the settings you changed. 37 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Display, Audio You can customize each TouchPoint Console to better suit the environment in which it will operate. For example, if ambient noise is higher than normal in the space where TPC is located, you may want to increase the speaker volume. Or, if TPC will be placed in a dark environment, you can increase the Display brightness to better see the screen at a distance. 1 On the Administrative Options screen, press Display, Audio. 2 In the Display and Audio Settings screen, adjust the following options if required: Option Backlight Timeout (mins) Display Brightness Speaker Volume Description After this set period of time, dim the screen to preserve screen life and save power. The default value is 30 minutes. The user can press anywhere on the screen to renew the backlight. Press the + or - button to increase or decrease the overall brightness of the screen. Press the + or - button to control the volume of the external speaker. if you enable the Beep on keypress or Beep on timeout feature, you can adjust the volume that will be heard when these features are used. By default, the volume is set to level 7 out of a possible ten, where 1 is quietest and 10 is loudest. TouchPoint Console Installation and Setup Guide 37

38 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Option Beep on keypress Beep on timeout Description When enabled (Yes), TPC will produce an audible beep each time a user presses a button or screen option. This feature is useful when users are first learning about the correct amount of pressure to apply to the touch screen. This option is set to No by default. When enabled (Yes), TPC will produce a short series of audible beeps (one beep per second for five seconds) before TPC will timeout the current user session. This feature is used to alert users of a pending session timeout. If they do not want TPC to timeout their session, the user can press any option on the controlled device or TPC to prevent the timeout. This option is to No to default. 3 Press Test to preview the speaker volume of the beep. 4 Press OK to save the change. 39 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration External Serial Device Interface You can use TPC in conjunction with the following supported card Reader options: External ABA Track 2 (magnetic swipe) card reader External 125 KHz proximity (HID) card reader External MHz contactless smart card reader (Mifare, Legic) When the reader is attached to TPC, users wave or swipe their card to populate the fields on the Login screen. The cards must be accurately encoded with the correct user code information. For additional information on card encoding, refer to the "Configuring TouchPoint Consoles" chapter in the Equitrac Professional Administration Guide. Serial communication between TPC and RS-232 card readers requires configuration of four parameters: Baud rate, Data bits, parity, and the number of stop bits. Each transmitted character is packaged in a character frame that consists of a single start bit followed by the data bits, the optional parity bit, and the stop bit or bits. Option Baud Rate Data Bits Description Baud rate is a measure of how fast data is moving between instruments that use serial communication. The default setting is The number of data bits that comprise the character frame. The default setting is 8 bits. TouchPoint Console Installation and Setup Guide 39

40 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Option Parity Stop Bits Description An optional bit included at the end of the character frame that is used for error checking. Some devices do not include this character (None), while others use Odd parity or Even parity. The default setting is None. The last part of a character frame used to indicate to the end of a transmission. The default setting is 1. See your manufacturer s device documentation to determine the required settings for your card reader. NOTE: To restore the default parameters in this screen, press Reset. This will power down the interface to the card reader for 2 seconds, then power it back up again with the default settings restored. When you have the correct settings and the card reader is correctly attached to TPC (see TPC Mounting and Setup on page 11), you can use the External Serial Device Interface screen to retrieve the raw card data from sample cards. 1 On the Administrative Options screen, press Ext. Serial Device Interface. 2 Press Test to reset the connected card reader. You should hear a beep from TPC, then the card reader LED state should transition between Off, Green, and Red. 3 When the LED light stays green and you are prompted to test a card, swipe or wave a test card at the card reader. The Help area on the right side of the TPC screen will show the full card data. For full details on using this screen to determine the raw card swipe data and configure server-side settings, refer to the "Configuring TouchPoint Consoles chapter in the Equitrac Professional Administration Guide. 40 TouchPoint Console Installation and Setup Guide

41 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Copy Device If you are configuring this TouchPoint Console to track copy transactions, you can check the copy pulse detection settings that are required for your specific device. These settings must be correct to ensure accurate copy count. Refer to your device documentation for these settings, then access the TPC Administrative Options to view the following: 1 On the Administrative Options screen, press Copy Device. 2 In the Copy Device screen, view the following options to determine if they are operating correctly for your device: Option Min Copy Pulse On Time Min Copy Pulse Off Time Max Copy Pulse On Time Description The minimum positive pulse time the copier recognizes and counts as a transaction, measured in milliseconds. The default value is 30 ms. The minimum negative pulse time the copier recognizes and counts as a transaction, measured in milliseconds. The default value is 25 ms. The longest pulse the Console recognizes and counts as a transaction, measured in milliseconds. The default value is 5000 ms. 3 Press Test to verify the pulses detected and the time associated with the pulse. The On/Off Report area updates to display each detected pulse and the number of milliseconds associated with the pulse. 4 Press Stop Test. The High and Low LED display updates to show you the current pulse status. 5 Press OK to modify the settings in the copy driver and update the server. 42 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration About If you need to locate the IP Address or MAC Address (for example, if working with Technical Support to resolve communication issues), you can find this information in the About screen. You do not need to login to the Administrative Options to view this information, but if you are already working in Administrative Options, press About to view the same screen. 43 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Meter Counts Meter Counts provides access to the copy meter counts that are stored in the TPC memory. This information may be useful when troubleshooting inconsistencies between the copier count and the TPC count. These fields are read-only values, with Pulses Since Last Reset as the exception. 1 On the Administrative Options screen, press Meter Counts. 2 In the Meter Counts screen, view the following options: Option Total Pulses Detected Pulses Since Last Reset Pulses with Bypass Total Copy Transactions Total In/Out Fax Transactions Description The total number of pulses detected by TPC since manufacturing. Set this value at initial installation to match the copier count. When troubleshooting, you could compare this value to determine if there is an inconsistency between the copier and the TPC count. The total number of pulses detected when the bypass key was engaged. The Bypass key can be used to access the controlled device without requiring user authentication. The transactions will not be forwarded to the Equitrac Professional DCE server, but are tracked by TPC as bypass pulse. NOTE: Each TPC unit ships with 2 bypass keys. These keys must be stored in a safe location for security reasons. The total number of copy transactions only (does not include fax transactions). 44 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Fax Device Properly configuring the fax device requires determining which fax board is in the TPC hardware, and then configuring it appropriately. Fax board discovery In order to know which type of setup is appropriate, you must first determine which fax board is installed in the TPC in question. There are two methods to determine which fax board is installed: 1 Through its part number. 2 By using the FaxUpdate tool. Part number The part number on the sticker found at the rear of the TPC indicates whether or not a new fax board is installed. TPCs bearing the part number 10B-TPX1 or 10B-TPX2 contain new fax boards. TPCs with part numbers containing "TPC" rather than "TPX" have older fax boards. FaxUpdate tool If you are trying to determine a TPC s fax board remotely, or to be absolutely sure whether a fax board is new, use the FaxUpdate tool. FaxUpdate is an executable that is available through the Equitrac Partner Portal. You must retrieve the tool, install it remotely on the TPC, and then run it to determine which fax board is installed. As part of the discovery process, the FaxUpdate tool also allows you to set the needed fax country code on TPCs containing new fax boards whose country code is not the United States. This process displays its information on the TPC. Therefore, if you are using FaxUpdate from a location where you cannot physically check the TPC screen, you require the DRC3 TPC Client tool, which allows you to view the TPC screen remotely. NOTE: To set the Country code using this process, you must either perform the operation using DRC3, or the TPC must be keyboard-equipped. After you have retrieved a copy of the FaxUpdate tool and placed it into a folder accessible from your local machine, and ensured that you have a copy of DRC3 running on your remote system: 1 Determine the IP address of the TPC you want to check/update. 2 Open Internet Explorer and enter the IP address into the address field, then press Enter. The WebAdmin for TouchPoint Console dialog for the TPC opens. NOTE: You must use Internet Explorer for this process. Other browsers are not supported. 3 From the top menu items, select UPLOAD. You will be asked for security verification. Use DEV for username, and EQU for password. 44 TouchPoint Console Installation and Setup Guide

45 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration 4 In the Filename field, enter the path where you have placed the FaxUpdate tool followed by FaxUpdate.exe. For example, c:\downloads\faxupdate.exe. Or, click Browse and navigate to where you have placed the tool. 5 Select ROOT from the drop down menu, if not already selected. 6 Click Upload. The dialog box displays the New Filename and Filesize of the upload. 7 From the top menu items, select RUN CMD. 8 In the Command String field, type Disk1\FaxUpdate.exe then press Enter. 9 If you have not already done so, use the IP address for the TPC to log in to DRC3 and open the remote viewer. The software takes some time to execute, and when complete displays the following information: If the fax board is a new one, the Board component will read Version 2 (new). 10 To set a country code, enter the number of the country as listed on the screen above and press Enter. To skip, enter q instead. NOTE: The country code is set to 0-United States by default. 11 Restart the TPC. TouchPoint Console Installation and Setup Guide 45

46 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Outbound V.34 settings Each fax line on fax-enabled versions of TPC must be configured for Outbound calling V.34 settings. Depending upon the version of Equitrac Professional installation, the terminal firmware, and the fax board installed, one of three installation scenarios must be followed: 1 TPCs with newer model fax boards, and newer TPC application and firmware. 2 TPCs with older model fax boards and older or newer TPC application and firmware. 3 TPCs with newer model fax boards that use older TPC application and firmware and are being used on older installations of Equitrac Professional. Newer model fax boards, new TPC firmware To configure outbound calling on TPCs with newer fax board(s), a selection of buttons indicating available outbound calling options are displayed, as well as fields to indicate which country the Fax boards will be used. Pressing the Country fields displays a pick list where you can select the appropriate country for your deployment: The Fax Devices screen also provides access to the Fax Monitor tool used for field diagnostics and fax conversation capture. This tool is described on page TouchPoint Console Installation and Setup Guide

47 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Older model fax boards, older or newer TPC firmware For TPCs with older fax boards, a selection of buttons indicating available outbound calling options are displayed, and "Autodetect" button(s) are used to detect and configure the fax board(s): The Fax Devices screen also provides access to the Fax Monitor tool used for field diagnostics and fax conversation capture. This tool is described on page 49. Newer model fax boards, older TPC firmware, older installations of Equitrac Professional Deployments that use newer TPCs on older versions of Equitrac Professional require special care to ensure the newer fax boards operate correctly with legacy Equitrac Professional software. Equitrac provides a FaxUpdate tool to set the country code in these situations. For information about setting country codes with the Faxupdate tool, see FaxUpdate tool on page 44. Setting the Country Code NOTE: These settings are only applicable for new fax boards. Legacy boards do not requite the following configuration steps. Also note that in situations where a new model fax board is to be used with a legacy Equitrac Professional deployment, the country code defaults to the United States. If another country code is required, you must use the FaxUpdate tool to set it. Please see FaxUpdate tool on page 44. Before starting, ensure that the fax device is connected to the phone line, and that the fax device is powered on. 1 On the Administrative Options screen, press Fax Devices. 2 In the Fax Devices screen, press the Fax x Country field for the fax line you want to configure. A pick list populated with supported country codes displays. Select the country appropriate for your deployment to populate the field. Repeat this step for all fax lines you want to configure. 48 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration CAUTION: If more than one fax machine is controlled by TPC, ensure that you choose the correct setting per fax machine. 3 Press OK to save the change to the server. The fax machine is now ready for use. Outbound Calling Settings NOTE: These settings are only applicable for legacy fax board. New fax boards do not require the following configuration steps. Before starting, ensure that the fax device is connected to the phone line, and that the fax device is powered on. 1 On the Administrative Options screen, press Fax Devices. 2 In the Fax Devices screen, either press either V.34, Non V.34, or press Auto Detect if you are not certain. 3 As per the Auto Detect help area, ensure the fax device is correctly connected to TPC, then place some paper in the fax device. Dial 123, press the # symbol, then press Send/Start. TPC will automatically detect the correct setting for the attached fax machine after you dial the fax machine. CAUTION: If more than one fax machine is controlled by TPC, ensure that you choose the correct setting per fax machine. 4 Press OK to save the change to the server. 49 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Fax Call Monitoring If you need to perform field-level diagnostics or provide specific information to Technical Support to troubleshoot fax problems, you can use the Fax Call Monitoring screen to gather detail. 1 On the Fax Devices screen, press Monitor. TPC registers itself with the fax subsystem and starts to monitor and record serial messages and fax events. As events occur, they are recorded in the Fax Call Monitoring list. If more than one fax device is controlled by TPC, the events for both devices are interleaved in the display. 2 To log the information, press Enable under Log to Disk. NOTE: To change the level of logging detail shown in this screen, see System Logging on page To reset either fax device, press Reset #1 or Reset #2. 4 Power to the fax machine is toggled for 2 seconds while the fax firmware version and fax boot code version are checked. The firmware version information is displayed in the Fax Device 1 or Fax Device 2 fields, then the fax system is set to idle. 5 Press OK to update the server with these changes. 50 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration TouchScreen Calibration NOTE: Calibration requires the hard keyboard shipped with TPC. You cannot perform the calibration through the touch screen only. Although the touchscreen is calibrated during manufacturing, you may need to make minor adjustments to the calibration. If users notice that their finger presses are not quite accurate, take a moment to perform a simple recalibration to reset the screen perimeter information. Carefully press the centre of the cross hairs in each position on the screen. When finished, the screen will recalibrate to present the TPC options in their optimal location. 51 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Service Banner A service banner is a message that appears on the TPC Information Bar to convey specific information to end-users. You might need a service message to notify users that the copier is out of order, or if you want to remind them to perform a specific task, for example. TPC has four preset messages that you can quickly apply, or you can create your own custom message. 1 On the Administrative Options screen, press Service Banner. 2 Press Enable, then choose from one of the four preset messages or type a custom message. 3 To use a custom message, first press the Custom Message button to enable the Customize Message field. If you have a hard keyboard attached to TPC, type your custom message in the field. Without a hard keyboard, press the Soft Keyboard button to type a message. 4 Press OK to save the change. 53 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration Reboot To shut down TPC and reset communication with the Server, you can use the Reboot function. This function is not available to end-users and is present from the Administrative Options screen only. 1 On the Administrative Options screen, press Reboot. 2 In the confirmation screen press Yes to continue the reboot. 3 After saving any changes made in the Administrative Options screens, the system will shut down and restart. 54 Chapter 4: Additional Local Configuration System Logging Technical Support may ask for logs to perform troubleshooting. Logs contain valuable diagnostic detail that can help trace the source of a problem. The Logging screen allows you to enable or disable logging, determine where the log detail will be saved, identify the type of information that will be logged, and the amount of detail included. 1 On the Administrative Options screen, press Logging. 2 In the Logging screen, press Enable to turn system logging on. The following table describes the remaining options on this screen. Option Send Logging To Verbosity Description Enable one or more devices where the log will be saved. Int.
