2 1.2 Installing P-CAD Products This section describes how to install the P-CAD software Installing P-CAD 2001 Network Edition To install P-CAD products follow these steps: 1. Browse the network until you find a computer named EECAD2. (If you are a non-cued machine and are having problems accessing this machine or it s folders, use the contact information at the end of this document and we will get you a CD to install from.) 2. Click on the folder PCAD Double click on the file setuppcad2001.exe: 4. The P-CAD 2001 Network Edition Installation Screen will appear. 5. On the P-CAD 2001 Network Edition Installation Screen you select which part of P-CAD 2001 you want to install, in this case you would double click on the PCAD 2001 button. 6. The installation Welcome dialog appears. This dialog notifies you that the setup program will install P-CAD 2001 Network Edition on your computer and recommends that all other Windows programs be shut down before continuing. To continue with the installation, click Next>. 7. The P-CAD License Agreement dialog appears. If you agree with the terms of this agreement, click Yes and continue with the installation. 8. The first User Information dialog appears. Here you are asked to enter your name, company name and select the product type that is being installed. Choose to install one of the P-CAD 2001 Suites When you have entered the information and made your selection, click Next>. 9. The second page of the User Information dialog appears. Here, you are asked to select the product(s) that will use network licensing: P-CAD 2001 Suite - select the suite that will use network licensing (P-CAD 2001 or P-CAD 2001 Schematic). If you only do schematic capture, or rarely do PCB layout, please install the Schematic Suite only. (If you install the full suite, you tie up a seat of PCB every time you open the schematic because it checks it out as a full block. Please be fair in your choice as we only have 8 full blown seats. If you can get away with the Schematic suite only, which does include Library Executive, then please do so.) If you are unclear on your choice, please call When you have made your selection(s), click Next> to continue.

3 10. The next page of the User Information dialog appears. On this page you specify the computer that will run the SentinelLM License Manager, from which each running copy of P-CAD 2001 acquires a valid license. Enter the following for the IP address: When you have set up the Host options click Next>. 11. The Choose Destination Location dialog appears. Here, you are asked whether you want to install the program into the default directory, shown in the Destination Folder frame. If yes, then click NEXT> and the setup program will create the directory for you. If you want to use a different directory or even a different drive, then edit the directory by clicking the Browse button to navigate to and choose the desired directory. When you have set up the destination folder as desired, click Next>. 12. The Setup Type dialog appears. From here, choose the type of setup you prefer: Typical or Custom. The Typical option installs the most common options and is recommended for most users. The Custom option allows you to choose the options you want to install and is recommended for advanced users. When you have made your choice, click Next>. If you chose Typical setup, go to Step 14. If you chose Custom setup, go to Step Having chosen the Custom setup, the Select Components dialog appears. From here, choose the specific components you want to install. By default, all components are selected. Click on a check box to clear it. A description of each component appears in the description frame, as you click on the component name. The space required for installation and space available on your chosen destination drive are also shown. The space required is recalculated based on your selections. When you have finished selecting, click Next>. 14. The Select Program Folder dialog appears. From here, you can choose the program folder in which you want the program icons to be located. Either type a new folder name or choose one of the existing folders from the list available. By default the icons will be added to the P-CAD 2001 folder. Click Next >. 15. The Start Copying Files dialog appears. This is the final dialog before the install program proceeds to copy files. You are given the option to review or change any settings, by clicking <Back. If you are satisfied with the settings, click Next> to begin copying files. 16. The Setup Status dialog appears, showing the progress of the installation. 17. When the files have been copied, the Setup Complete dialog appears. Click Finish to complete setup.

4 1.2.2 Installing the Mixed-Signal Circuit Simulator To install the Mixed-Signal Circuit Simulator, follow these steps: 1. Once the previous Setup dialog closes and you have returned to the P-CAD 2001 Installation Screen, click the Simulator button to commence the installation of the Mixed-Signal Circuit Simulator. Step through each dialog in the simulator installation, following a similar set of steps as described above (1.2.1, steps 6 to 17). 2. During installation you will be prompted to enter a 16 character access code for the Mixed-Signal Circuit Simulator. Enter the following code: A9CB-LQ5P-2KZC-Y3LC. 3. Continue through the installation dialogs until the Mixed-Signal Circuit Simulator installation is complete. 4. After clicking Finish at the end of the Mixed-Signal Circuit Simulator installation you will return to the P-CAD 2001 Installation Screen, from where you can proceed to install the CAMtastic! 2000 Designers' Edition Installing CAMtastic! 2000 Designers' Edition To install CAMtastic! 2000 Designers' Edition, follow these steps: 1. Once the previous Setup dialog closes and you have returned to the P-CAD 2001 Installation Screen, click the CAMtastic! button to commence the installation of CAMtastic! 2000 Designers' Edition. Step through each dialog in the simulator installation, following the similar set of steps as described above (1.2.1, steps 6 to 17). 2. During installation you will be prompted to enter a 16 character access code for the CAMtastic! 2000 Designers' Edition. Enter the following: R585-QZQJ-R85N-C6AW 3. Continue through the installation dialogs until the CAMtastic! 2000 Designers' Edition installation is complete. 4. After clicking Finish at the end of the CAMtastic! 2000 Designers' Edition installation you will return to the P-CAD 2001 Installation Screen.You have now completed the installation process, click the Exit button to close the P-CAD 2001 Installation Screen. Manuals for the Mixed Signal Circuit Simulator and Camtastic can be found at the following locations: \\jlabgrp\eecad\pcad 2001\manuals or \\eecad2\pcad2001 manuals. 1.3 Modifying/Repairing/Removing an Installation If you have already installed a P-CAD product and you want to modify, repair or remove products, follow these steps:

5 1. Browse the network until you find a computer named EECAD2. 2. Click on the folder PCAD Double click on the file setuppcad2001.exe: 4. The P-CAD 2001 Network Edition Installation Screen will appear. 5. On the P-CAD 2001 Network Edition Installation Screen you select which part of P-CAD 2001 you want to modify/repair/remove. Click the P-CAD 2001 button. 6. The next dialog that appears is the Welcome dialog of the Setup Maintenance Program. Select the desired options button for the type of maintenance you want to do: Modify to add or remove components, Repair to repair previously installed components or Remove to delete all installed components. Modify When you have made your selection, click Next> to continue. The next Step(s) in the maintenance program depends on the choice made and are as follows: 1. The first User Information dialog appears. Here you are asked to enter your name and company name. In the case of P-CAD 2001, you will also be asked to select the product type. When you have entered the information and made your selection, click Next>. 2. The second page of the User Information dialog appears. Here, you are asked to select the product(s) that will use network licensing: P-CAD 2001 Suite - select the suite that will use network licensing (P- CAD 2001 or P-CAD 2001 Schematic). It is recommended that only one suite checkbox is selected to control the type of suite you wish to run on this machine. P-CAD 2001 Individual Products - select the particular product(s) that will use network licensing (PCB/PCB(6/400)/InterPlace/InterRoute Gold/Constraint Manager/Schematic/Library Executive/Relay/Document Toolbox) When you have made your selection(s), click Next> to continue 3. The next page of the User Information dialog appears. On this page you specify the computer that will run the SentinelLM License Manager, from which each running copy of P-CAD 2001 acquires a valid license. Enter the following for the IP address: When you have set up the Host options click Next>. 4. The Setup Status dialog appears, showing the progress of the installation.

6 5. When the modification is complete, the Maintenance Complete dialog appears. Click Finish to complete the setup changes, then click Exit to close the P-CAD 2001 Network Edition Installation Screen. Repair 1. The Setup Status dialog appears, showing the progress of the repair. 2. When the repair is complete, the Maintenance Complete dialog appears. Click Finish to complete the setup changes, then click Exit to close the P- CAD 2001 Network Edition Installation Screen. Remove 1. The Confirm File Deletion dialog appears, asking if you want to completely remove the selected application and all of its components. Click OK to proceed with program removal. Click Cancel to return to the maintenance Welcome dialog. 2. The Setup Status dialog appears, showing the progress of the removal. 3. When the removal is complete, the Maintenance Complete dialog appears. Click Finish to complete the setup changes, then click Exit to close the P- CAD 2001 Network Edition Installation Screen. 1.4 Service Packs On the same machine as the one you just installed from, you will find any current service packs that will need to be installed once you finish your initial install of PCAD When others are released, you will be notified via the eecad mailing list. Please make sure you are subscribed to it. 1. Browse the network until you find a computer named EECAD2. 2. Click on the folder PCAD2001 Service Paks. 3. Double click on the file p-cad2001servicepack1.exe. 4. Follow any instructions that appear.

7 2.0 Information about Network Licenses When you launch a P-CAD 2001 Network Edition product it requests a license from the Sentinel License Manager. The License Manager is specified in the "lshost" file in your P-CAD 2001 folder. If a License Manager is found and a license is available the P-CAD 2001 Network Edition product will start. If no licenses are available a message is displayed. If the License Manager is not found a brief network broadcast is transmitted in order to find another License Manager on the subnet, if no License Manager is found a warning message is displayed. 3.0 New features you may want to change In the Schematic editor, they have added user definable junction sizes. The default size when you open your schematic will be a 200 mil junction. This has to be changed in two different places. 1. Under Options- Display: under the Colors tab, change your junction size to Large. 2. Under File- Print- select the Print option button and change your junction size to Large. In both editors, they have added Data tips. When you hold your cursor over an item, an information box will pop up. This may drive some of you crazy. To turn it off: 1. Under Options- Display: under the miscellaneous tab, uncheck the box that says Show Data Tips. In the PCB editor, they have added additional Selection masking capabilities. (This was the Block Selection tool.) One of the new features with this tool is if you select and item that overlays another item, it will bring up a table that lists all items at that particular pick point. You can then select the item you want from the table instead of cycling through your picks like it use to do. If you wish to have the cycling feature back: 1.
