4 NetSwitcher System Overview OnSSI NetSwitcher is a Virtual Video Matri Switch, consisted of 4 software components: Server, Administrator, Controller, and Viewer. 1. Server: Holds all Database & Licensing information; stores all NetSwitcher configurations 2. Administrator: Program Interface used to configure system 3. Controller: Operator Console to manage Cameras & Viewers 4. Viewer: Displays NetSwitcher Video All 4 components can be installed from the NetSwitcher CD. Images from the cameras are sent to the NVR (NetDVR & NetDVMS); The ImageServer service (running on the NVR machine) streams all live and recorded video to the NetSwitcher Viewers. 222 Route 59, Suite 303, Suffern, NY Tel: Fa: info@onssi.com Page 3

5 NetSwitcher Server Roles/functions Stores all NetSwitcher configurations, such as NetSwitcher users, NetSwitcher Viewers and NVR configurations. Stores the licensing information. The NetSwitcher License Manager runs as a service. To access the License Manager, click on (Windows menu bar) Start > All Programs > ONSSI > NetSwitcher Server > License Manager. IIS (Internet Information Services) NetSwitcher requires IIS to be installed and operating. IIS is included with Windows XP and Use TCP/IP port 80 for Default Web Server 2. Make sure Image Server is not using port 80, if on same PC, via Image Server Administrator program, set Image Server to port Make sure Web Server is on a different port too, if on same PC, via Web Server Settings, set Web Server to port 82 IIS Install 1. Left click on start, control panel 2. Open add or remove programs 3. Select add/remove windows components 4. Check IIS bo, double click & select all components of IIS 5. Finish install with windows CD 6. Left click on start, run 7. Type inetmgr, click ok 8. Left click on PC name, double left click on Web Sites 9. Right click on Default Web Site 10. Left click on properties, start if stopped, verify TCP Port is set to 80 NetSwitcher Server Install 1. Launch Server_Install from the NetSwitcher CD, and accept all defaults. 2. Launch License Manager : Left click on start, go to all programs, onssi, NetSwitcher Server, License Manager 3. Enter your NetSwitcher SLC and Server License for NetSwitcher, click on start. 6 Uploading NVR Configuration The NetSwitcher Server needs to have the configurations from each NetDVMS station it will be streaming video from. If the configuration of an NVR changes, the new configuration will need to be uploaded. To upload a new configuration to the NetSwitcher Server, follow the following steps: 1. Launch Internet Eplorer from each NVR 2. Enter the IP address of the NetSwitcher Server/NetSwitcher in the address bar, i.e Server Type should be Image Server 4. Servers Hostname should auto fill with the local NVR s IP address 5. Enter the NVR s Image Server Port No., then a valid username and password for the Image Server. 6. Browse for survpro2.ini (c:\program files\onssi\netdvms), and click on upload. NetSwitcher Server Report should be displayed if successful (See eample). Tip: If upload fails, you may have to change the directory security settings in IIS NetSwitcher Administrator Most configuring is done with this application: Maps, Monitors (NetSwitcher Viewers), Viewing Presets and cameras. Note:.NET framework 1.1 / 2.0 must be installed prior to NetSwitcher Administrator NetSwitcher Administrator Install and Launch Install: Install the Administrator from the software CD; accept all defaults. 7 NetSwitcher Administration GUI The eample shows: 1. Two maps added with links created between the two 2. Two cameras added to map, one added in two locations 3. Two monitors added To change Admin password, left click on Modify, double left click on Admin, type in new password, repeat password, and left click on update. Adding Maps 1. Open the folder with the maps to be added and drag maps into the black area. Note: You can use.gif,.jpg and.png files, but not bitmaps. 2. Specify a map to be the top layer map (to be first loaded), by highlighting the map name and, then, clicking on Set as Start. Create a link to another map Note: repeat steps to have a link going back 1. Left click on create link 2. Draw an area of the map where the label for the link will go by holding down the left mouse button to draw, letting it go at the end of each side; complete drawing: it will be completed when you get back to where you started, and the outline will be highlighted 3. Type in a label, which will go in the area you outline on the map in steps Select a target map for the link by highlighting it 5. 8 Adding a camera to a map 1. Click on the + sign net to the NVR to see list of available cameras. 2. Highlight a camera and drag it onto the map. 3. Right click on the camera icon to change its size and/or type of camera, or to delete it. Highlight Scale and select Small, Medium, or Normal Highlight Type and select Normal or Ceiling Highlight Delete to take camera off of map 4. Click on the circle in front of camera and move it to change direction the camera is pointing 5. Repeat to add more cameras Adding a Monitor 1. Left click on Add Monitor 2. Left click on grid by the little circle 3. Draw a bo on the grid Note: if you release of mouse, you will have to the draw bo after typing in settings. 4. Enter a label for the Viewing Station, its IP address, and Port # 5. Write down these Monitor Settings, 6. Click OK Adding Macro Presets Macro Presets are used to quickly connect a group of cameras to specific viewers (monitors), from the NetSwitcher Controller application. 1. Click on Preset tab, then click New Preset 2. Provide a Macro Label to identify the preset operation 3. Drag and drop cameras from the listing into the appropriate monitors 4. 9 Creating Map Presets Map presets are used in the Controller application to quickly connect a group of cameras to specific monitors through links on a map (as opposed to using the Preset tab). 1. Click on Create Map Preset 2. Draw the area on the map, letting up on the mouse to end each side 3. Complete the area by coming back to the start; it will change colors NetSwitcher Controller The NetSwitcher Controller application is used to manage the NetSwitcher Viewers (monitors). It is the Operator Interface used for: Switching video streams to any available monitor from any active camera Drilling up and down maps, based on setup in NetSwitcher Administrator Unlimited Virtual Video Matri Switching Limited only by the number of Camera and Viewer Licenses purchased To install, use the NetSwitcher CD; accept all defaults. NetSwitcher Controller Login Launch program: left click on start/all programs/onssi/netswitcher Controller Username is Admin, Default Password is admin (See Diagram for NetSwitcher Administrator login) NetSwitcher Controller Interface Monitors configured in NetSwitcher Administrator will appear on the top Any Presets or Monitor Groups configured will be listed under their tabs The map selected as the first map will be displayed To send video to a monitor, click on the monitor 1 st, then on the camera Note: if a monitor color is red when clicked on, it is not available; if the Monitor is active it will turn green The keypad can be used to select monitors and cameras by their ID number. 10 NetSwitcher Controller Keypad Use the keypad to select a monitor and a camera: 1. Type in monitor ID, click on monitor icon 2. Type in camera ID, click on camera icon Display area Camera/Monitor/Clear buttons Numbers for Camera/Monitor ID Live video on selected camera Rev/FF one frame at a time Move in time for video playback Play backward/pause/play forward Playback speed Reverse/Forward one sequence at a time Zoom in/out/return to normal Zoom Level Date and Time for Playback/Joystick settings NetSwitcher - Viewer This application is used to display the video onto various monitors. To Install: Use the NetSwitcher CD; accept all defaults To Launch: click on start/all programs/onssi/netswitcher Viewer To Login: 1. Leave display under Select Display Adapter 2. Enter the port number assigned via NetSwitcher Administrator 3. Enter the IP address of the NetSwitcher Server 4. 11 NetSwitcher Viewer Arrays Array is set in file called viewer.ini (c:\program Files\OnSSI\NetSwitcher Viewer) Note: Please contact OnSSI support for assistance in obtaining viewer.ini files If multiple.ini files are available, rename the active one viewer.ini. The actual IP addresses and port numbers need to be edited inside this file Copy the.ini file viewer into C:\Program Files\OnSSI\NetSwitcher Viewer The grid can be 11 / 22 / 33 or 44 (up to 16 viewers on 1 physical monitor) 222 Route 59, Suite 303, Suffern, NY Tel: Fa: info@onssi.com Page 10
