Announcing IQ Central v1.11 Peek is pleased to announce IQ Central, Version The purpose of this release is to add a couple of important new capabilities to the software: PPP Dial-up communications support for traffic hardware, and support for LMD-9200 and LMD 40 traffic controllers. The update also takes care of a number of issues that were identified in previous releases, including improved ATC-1000 and ATC-CBD support, increased network reliability, and improved Traffic Responsive operation. Product... IQ Central Version... Version 1.11 Release Date...May 27, 2010 Product Requirements This release requires one or more Windows compatible computers, running either the Windows XP, Professional 32-bit, Windows Server bit, or Windows 7, Professional, 32-bit operating system. Business class PC hardware is required. For all of the reporting and export features to work, the system must also have Microsoft Office, either Version 2003 or Version 2007, installed and properly configured on the system. If running the system as an IQ Central network, each IQ Central server and workstation will need to meet these requirements. Note: In order for IQ Central to function under Windows 7, you must install the IQ Central Vista/Windows 7 patch. This a simple patch that is installed as a single file (IQCentralVista7Fix.zip) on an existing IQ Central workstation. The part number for the patch package is Note: IQ Central is not supported on Windows Vista. To connect with field hardware, communications channels to those devices will also need to be available. Devices capable of using the NTCIP protocol natively, such as the Peek ATC-1000, ATC-2000, or the ASTC family of controllers, can be connected to IQ Central directly via one of these communications channels. Other, non- NTCIP compatible devices that will be connected to the software will need an additional piece of hardware; an IQ Connect translator unit, installed somewhere near (or in the case of Peek 3000E controllers, within) the device. And the translator hardware will need to be running an up-to-date version of translator firmware. If upgrading from a previous version of IQ Central, we recommend that you first make backup copies of the IQ Central database and associated files, and then uninstall the earlier version of the application. 3 New Features The following features have been added in this release of IQ Central: PPP communications via dialup Basic support for Transyt LMD 9200 traffic controllers (including database editing, upload, download, device monitoring, alarm monitoring, management via the map module, and the other basic capabilities available to any managed device in IQ Central). This includes both LMD 9200s connected via an M3000E master controller and also independent local LMD 9200 controllers. Basic support for Transyt LMD 40 traffic controllers, including both LMD 40s connected via an M3000E master controller and also independent local LMD 40 controllers. PPP Dialup Communications Version 1.11 of IQ Central adds a new communications option, PPP Dial Up. PPP stands for Point-to-Point Protocol. It provides a connection between IQ Central and a dial-up switch that will connect the modem connection to a remote Ethernet network. (The other dial-up option in IQ Central, PMPP, was limited to a simple dial-up connection over standard phone lines to a modem attached directly to the field device (such as an M3000 master controller.) PPP Dialup provides the extra parameters that allow you to specify the user name, login, server port and IP address on the Ethernet network into which the modem connection is being made. This allows the single modem and phone number combination to be used to connect to multiple devices, just by specifying their individual IP addresses in each Connection. Figure 1 Example of a PPP Connection Figure 2 Example of a PMPP Connection A PPP Connection requires that even if the same switch is being used, a separate IQ Central Connection will need to be defined for each device (each IP Address) behind that dialup switch. It s important to note that when configuring the parameters for a PPP Dialup connection, you will not be selecting a specific modem. The modem selection field is grayed out. Instead, IQ Central will automatically Page 3 of 24

use the first modem in the list of all modems that have been configured under Windows for your system. The Modem name field is just used as a tag in IQ Central to describe the modem being used, but that tag is not linked to any particular modem device. The thing that will logically connect multiple field devices that are using the same PPP switch is the phone number. For instance, if multiple devices are configured on the same remote Ethernet network, behind the same PPP dialup switch, but with different IP addresses, IQ Central will know to not disconnect from each of those devices when switching between them. IQ Central knows to do this by noting that all of the PPP Dialup devices with the same phone number can be accessed from the same phone call. This is exactly the same way that PMPP Dialup works. So, if you are viewing 5 devices on the Map Viewer, and they all are using the same PPP Dialup phone number, IQ Central will establish the link for the first one, and then stay on that line to update the status of the other devices, rather than disconnecting from the first device and then calling the same number to connect to the second, and so on. Note Just like with PMPP dialup, if a connection has not been established with a device at the time of a polling event, the device on that connection will not be polled. Figure 3 shows how the new PPP Dailup option can be selected in the Enter/Edit Connections Window (Tools > Connections > Add Connection) Figure 3 Setting up PPP Dialup Communications By default, a PPP Dialup connection is defined with a 90 second timeout period, a Response Time of 8 seconds and a Retry count of 2. To successfully set up a PPP Dialup connection on your system, you will need to have a modem installed and configured to be recognized by Windows. (Case #4232 Implement PPP Dialup Connections) Page 4 of 24

LMD 9200 Support IQ Central can now work with LMD 9200 traffic controllers, including the following functions: Add and edit LMD 9200 device instances Place LMD 9200 devices on map views Monitor the status of LMD 9200 devices in Status and Map Views Poll LMD 9200 devices for any NTCIP objects Monitor LMD 9200 for alarm conditions Retrieve, edit, copy, and deploy LMD 9200 traffic databases Add LMD 9200 devices to device groups Time sync from central Log retrieval Central pattern override Figure 4 LMD 9200 Programming in the Upload/Download module (Case #4096 Enhancement: LMD 9200 Basic Support) Page 5 of 24

LMD 40 Support IQ Central can now work with LMD 40 pretimed traffic controllers, including the following functions: Add and edit LMD 40 device instances Place LMD 40 devices on map views (as shown below) Monitor the status of LMD 40 devices in Status and Map Views Poll LMD 40 devices for any NTCIP objects Monitor LMD 40 for alarm conditions Retrieve, edit, copy, and deploy LMD 40 traffic databases Add LMD 40 devices to device groups Time sync from central Figure 5 LMD 40 Controller on the Map Viewer, with Context Menu options (Case #5333 Enhancement: LMD 40 Basic Support) Page 6 of 24

Issues Addressed in this Release The following are issues or enhancement requests that were reported based on previous releases of IQ Central that have been repaired or addressed in the Version 1.11 update. Table 3 Issues Repaired in IQ Central v1.11 Issue Resolution Case # In the bitmap version of the Map Viewer module, if the map is taller than the window, the vertical scroll bar was not showing up until the user un-maximized and then remaximized the window. Enhancement: Indicate where zoom areas are located on BMP maps in the Map Viewer module. Enhancement: It was requested that there be a user-selectable default zoom level in the Add Icon to Map display. This would eliminate the need to explicitly set the zoom on all newly added icons. In the ATC CBD Upload/Download module, when programming the Control Source for Channels 1 though 8, a set of source phase/overlaps were listed. However, for channels 9 through 16, no options were offered, the user had to enter a number. If a device was placed on a GIS map, and then moved before the map was closed, even if Save was chosen explicitly prior to the module being closed, the device s location on the map was not being saved. A zoom level 3 display of an 820A OSAM controller under an OSAM-32 master was showing only green signals. A set time command sent to a 3800EL master controller, followed immediately by a get time to verify the proper setting was showing that the time had not be changed. If the Map View module was open, and the operator opened the Pattern Monitor from the Devices menu, the Pattern Monitor opened, but the polling control remained grayed out, and no devices appeared on the list. For devices under an M3000 master, a recurring Scheduler event to retrieve event logs would complete the request the first time, but then not function for later scheduled requests. Both scrollbars (vertical and horizontal) are now correctly enabled whenever the loaded map is larger than the visible window area. This is an optional feature that can be enabled/disabled in the Tools > Options > System Settings dialog box. (The control is hidden in the GIS version of IQ Central.) When enabled, the Map Viewer indicates zoom areas of the map with a yellow and black dotted outline. Added a control to the 'Place Icon On Map' display, to allow the user to define a default zoom level. The default zoom level will be assigned to devices that are dragged and dropped onto the map from the window s device tool bar, and where the zoom level is set to zero. The input method for Channels 9 through 16 have been updated so that they provide the same input dialog box as the one shown for Channel 1 through 8. The device being moved was marked as Temporarily Displayed. This flag has now been reset after the device is moved on the Place Icon on Map module. The new device location is now being saved correctly. This was not actually a problem with IQ Central, but rather with the IQ Connect OSAM Translator. This was an issue with the way device details were requested and responded to by the IQ Connect OSAM translator firmware. The issue was fixed in the IQ Connect v for OSAM firmware. This was not actually a problem with IQ Central, but rather with the IQ Connect 3800EL Translator firmware. The 3800EL master translator waits until the top of the minute to sync the time after central sends it. If the time is set and then immediately retrieved,, the original time will be returned. The 3800 Translator version includes a change to not overwrite the translator's time to send if we are waiting for the top of the minute to sync the time recieved from central. This is what was happening in the translator if a get time closely followed a set time before the top of the minute. This was a problem caused by some debug code in the Pattern Monitor module. This has been corrected. This has been corrected so that recurring events now function correctly Page 7 of 24

Issue Resolution Case # In the Upload/Download module for LMD 9200, ATC CBD and ATC-1000 devices, attempting to copy between similar records was failing to copy part of column one on the page. Sending a Central Override to a Group of 3000E controllers under an M3000 master, the first pattern change occurs correctly, but subsequent pattern change requests resulted in errors. Attempting to restore a database from an archived file, the Alarms, Device Logs, and Volume Log Entry tables were not being restored correctly. The Copy Device Data method was modified so that it correctly copied the requested data. The server reference was being lost during the group override process. The override dialog now functions correctly. The Alarms and Device Logs tables are now being restored correctly. Please note that the Volume Log Entry table is still not being restored. Refer to the spun off case being used (Case#5800) to track our efforts to resolve this issue Known Issues Remaining in this Release This product release does not address the following issues. If you encounter any of these problems, please use the workaround. We will resolve these issues at the earliest opportunity. Table 4 Known Issues remaining in IQ Central v1.11 Issue Workaround Case # The Traffic Responsive module does not automatically recognize changes to the configuration Copying polling configuration from one device to another may result in an error. Export of detector volume and occupancy data using new feature under Device menu > Intersections > Traffic Data Export generates an error IQ Central running on workstations must be shut down before anyone uses the Exit command on the IQ Central Server Manager running in the toolbar on the server. If the server manager is shut down first, this can cause disconnection errors on client workstations. A restore of an archived database is not properly restoring the Volume Log Entry table. Restart the Traffic Responsive module after changes are made. We suggest using the Polling assistant instead The Export of the detector volume and occupancy data capability was still unfinished at the time of the IQ Central v1.11 update release. If the data is needed outside of the IQ Central database, the way to access it now is to open a backup copy of the database using Microsoft Access and to generate a report from the stored data. Note that this will require a Joined query to retrieve the device information, since all detector data is tagged merely with the IQ Central internal Device ID. If the workstation clients will not restart after the IQ Central server systems have been relaunched, the IQ Central server and workstations must be shut down and restarted again to clear up the error in the Windows DCOM communications module. The problem is that the indexes in the Volume Log Entry table get out of sync (tblvolumelogdetectorinfo) with the parent table tblvolumelogentry. This filters down to the Traffic responsive server which starts logging duplicate index errors when it tries to commit new volume log entries, thus complicating a restore of older data to the table. 4883, 4945, Page 8 of 24

Installing IQ Central IQ Central Version 1.11 should not be installed without the guidance of a Peek Traffic customer support representative. The following procedures describe how to install the software on a new system (see below) or how to upgrade a previous version of IQ Central to Version (See Page 15) Installing IQ Central v1.11 on a New System Standalone Systems or the IQ Central Server 1. On each system where IQ Central will be installed, verify that the operating system is either Windows XP 32-bit, or Windows 7 - Professional 32-bit. (IQ Central Version 1.11 is not compatible with Vista.) 2. Verify that a properly licensed version of either Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007 is installed on each system. All client machines and each server must be running the same version of Office. 3. If you are setting up a networked version of IQ Central, you will need to create an Admin account that has rights across the Domain. This will be needed for IQ Central s server modules, later in this procedure, so record the name and password for later use. If you plan to install a single-computer IQ Central system, then you will simply need an Administrator level user account for that system. 4. Locate the license key for IQ Central. This code should have been provided along with the installation CD. If not, contact your Peek Traffic service representative in order to request a valid license key. 5. Log in to the computer using an account that has administrative rights to this computer. In particular, the account needs to be able to start and stop Windows Services. 6. Insert the IQ Central installation CD into the optical drive of the workstation where you want to install the program. 7. If auto-run is not configured on this drive, open a Windows Explorer window and navigate to the drive. Locate the Setup.exe installation program and double-click it. This will launch the installation program. Figure 6 IQ Central Installation menu 8. Choose the Install IQ Central button. 9. Follow the directions on-screen. You will need to accept the software license in order to install the program. Page 9 of 24

Shortly after that point, you should find the text Data Source=[Path to database - typically C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Peek Traffic\IQCentral\NTCIPServerDB.mdb or an appropriately localized variant]. Replace the local database path with the path to the database file on the server. y.) Repeat these steps on each workstation that will be connected to IQ Central. 13. Once all of the server(s) and workstation(s) have been updated to run IQ Central, v1.10. we ll need to restore the previous data. Go to the server and launch IQ Central (Start menu > Peek Traffic > IQCentral > IQCentral.) 14. Login to IQ Central using an administrative level password. (Your user accounts and passwords from the previous version will be retained.) 15. Go to the Tools menu and choose Archive and Restore. 16. Select Restore Archived Data and then click on the Select Database button. Figure 19 Restoring the database 17. Locate the database file you archived at the beginning of the process, select it, and choose Open. Page 21 of 24

Figure 20 Selecting the database archive to restore 18. Click the Select All check box, and press 19. When the restoration is finished, Close the Archive and Restore module, and then close IQ Central. Note Updating the database from version 1.10 to 1.11 is a simple matter. However, if you are updating from an older version of the database (v1.9 or earlier) to version 1.11, the database will require some additional work that can only be performed by Peek Traffic s Customer Support team. Please refer to page 24 of these release notes for contact information. 20. Locate your backed up Map files and copy them back into the IQ Central maps directory. (By default, the standard map files directory is located at C:\Program Files\Peek Traffic\IQCentral\MapFiles\.) This completes the upgrade to IQ Central v1.11. Page 22 of 24

Additional Guidance on IQ Central The following additional resources are available for all customers should you have the need for extra guidance concerning the IQ Central software and its use with a variety of hardware. Troubleshooting Table 5 Troubleshooting hints Problem Cause Solution When using the Central port on the translator, communication to a device cannot be established When using the Traffic Responsive module, the pattern does not change when expected. A volume or occupancy export contains no data The device ID is not set, or invalid The Traffic Responsive channel is in "Under Construction" or "Test" mode The detectors on which traffic responsive operation is based are not being polled The traffic responsive configuration has changed since the traffic responsive module (console or service) which commands the patterns was started. The detectors are only being monitored while the map view is open. There is no data for the selected date. Ensure that the device ID has been set and matches the ID of the controller. Set the channel mode to Live Ensure that polling is set for those detectors, and that the polling is set to always occur (not just when the map interface is open). Restart the traffic responsive module. Adjust the polling configuration to ensure that data is collected at all times, then restart the traffic responsive module. Regenerate the export, selecting a different date range. No data has been stored in the database. Turn on the volume and occupancy logging, restart the Traffic Responsive module, and wait until the desired quantity of data has been collected. Documentation All of these documents are available on the Peek Traffic website, found at They can also be ordered in print form from the Peek Sales department by contacting Joyce Turco at (941) or by ing her at joyce.turco@peektraffic.com.
