6 Step 5: Running Hood applications and accessing Hood resources You are now working inside a window that is a remote desktop session. This session acts as if you are sitting in front of your on-campus computer. From this session you can now run applications and access your P:\ drive and other network resources as if you were on campus. Step 6: Closing your remote desktop and VPN connections When you are finished performing your college related work, you should close your connections your Hood computer. Do this in the reverse order of the previous steps. 6A. Close your remote desktop session. To do so, (from within your remote desktop session window) click Start, click Shut down, select log off or disconnect). NOTE: You could also close the entire Remote Desktop window by clicking the red X in the top right corner of the window. Your Hood College connections are now closed. 6B. Close the Hood VPN connection. To do so, click, with the right mouse, on the Hood VPN icon in the task tray and select Disconnect. Note: If you position your mouse pointer over this icon without clicking, it will display the name of the connection. This might be necessary if you have multiple connections and need to determine which one is the Hood VPN connection. 12/16/2009 page 6 of 6
