6 Preface Upgradable Features Point of Sale 100 Customer Categories Tax and discount structures Price Extended Tickets Using the Touchscreen Interface Like many smart phones and tablets today, the ETR-1000 uses a touchscreen interface. This technology allows the user to touch the screen directly to click buttons or enter data or any of the usual tasks that previously were done via a fixed keypad. To make a selection, press on the display over a button with your finger. Some features require that you drag or slide controls. To do so, hold your finger on the screen as you slide it across the screen. Note that the ETR-1000 uses a resistive screen, which means it uses the pressure from the finger to determine the location of the touch. If unable to interact with the register, please contact FMC Technologies support. Page 6 MNTA001 Issue/Rev. 0.1 (9/17)

7 Preface The Run Screen Register status Register ID, date, and time stamp Transaction information Delivered volume Product Price The Run screen is the primary screen of the ETR It's where the user will start and stop deliveries, as well as select the product, adjust the pricing, and print the receipts. From the Run screen the user can access all of the ETR-1000's functionality, including configuration and security controls. The ETR-1000 status bar displays the state of the meter and register: "Ready" indicates that no transaction is currently underway, but that the register and meter are operational and ready for use. When the status reads, "Valve Open," the meter valve is open and ready for delivery; the status will indicate Flowing when product is being delivered through the meter. At this point the status bar will also read "Transaction in Progress." When the transaction is paused, but not stopped, the status bar reads "Valve Closed" and "Transaction in Progress." The transaction information area displays details from an ongoing transaction. When flow is active, this information continues to display. The information shown is configurable. (See section 4, "Configuration: System Settings," and appendix A, "System Configuration Values," for more information.) Use the Start, Stop, and Print buttons below the transaction information to control deliveries. The color of the buttons conveys information about their role. Touching the green START button opens the valve. Issue/Rev. 0.1 (9/17) MNTA001 Page 7

8 Preface Touching the red STOP button closes the valve, stopping the flow of product and pausing the transaction. Touching the blue PRINT button ends the transaction and prints the delivery ticket. The PRODUCT, PRESET, and PRICE buttons allow setting these values prior to starting a delivery. How to use those controls and run a transaction is explained in section 3, "Deliveries." DELIVERY DETAILS allows the user to view detailed transaction information, and Shift Information displays transaction information for the current shift. The MAIN MENU button takes the user to the menu screen, which allows access to the controls for configuration, security, reports and diagnostics, all of which are explained in sections 4 through Scrolling Like many other software applications or website pages, there are some screens in the ETR-1000 that contain more information than can be displayed on the register monitor. On these screens, some information may be "hidden." To view all the information on a screen, use the UP and DOWN keys. 10 Quick Start 2 Quick Start Before operating the Evolution register, there are steps required to ensure that the ETR-1000 will operate as intended. The following list details the steps to follow before using the register: 1. Verify the configuration settings in the System Directory. Section 4, "Configuration: System Settings," explains how to change configuration settings. Appendix A, "System Directory Configuration Values" lists the settings with a brief explanation of their function. 2. Verify the configuration settings in the Meter Directory The Meter Directory settings determine the setup of your meter and any other devices connected to your Evolution register. 3. Before the Evolution register is started, product profiles must be created. The ETR-1000 uses those profiles to run transactions. There is no default setting for products. Products are created in Program Mode and use similar controls to System Directory and Meter Directory configurations. 4. After creating product profiles the meter must be calibrated using those products to determine the product's meter factor. Calibration ensures the meter and register are measuring the products as accurately as possible. Product calibration is also a requirement for the register to be approved by government agencies for operation. Section 7, "Calibration," explains how to use the Evolution register to calibrate and calculate meter factors. 5. After creating product profiles, calibrating the meter and entering the calculated meter factors for the products, the register must be sealed to ensure that the calibration data is protected. Sealing the register is also a necessary step in earning regulatory approval for the ETR See section 7.9., "Sealing the Register," for instructions. Issue/Rev. 0.1 (9/17) MNTA001 Page 10

34 System Settings 4 Configuration: System Settings The ETR-1000 offers a great deal of flexibility to the end user, allowing configuration of many operating parameters such as measurement units used, details about the products being delivered, communications interface settings, and many other options critical to operation. Most of these options are pre-configured with "smart" default values at the factory based on customer order, but it may be necessary to modify some settings. This is handled through the ETR-1000's Program Mode. To see a more detailed look at the values and their options, see appendix A: "System Configuration Values." There is a PC based application available to allow offline and remote configuration via the communications interface or via USB. This application is known as EvoMate and can be downloaded from the FMC Technologies Measurement Solutions web site s software download area. ( The following section describes the process of making configuration changes via the ETR-1000 user interface, but nearly all settings are accessible via either method. (Security configuration is an exception; this must be done locally.) 4.1. Entering Program Mode To enter the configuration menus, touch MAIN MENU from the Run screen. The Main Menu. Touch PROGRAM MODE from the menu. Issue/Rev. 0.1 (9/17) MNTA001 Page 34

35 System Settings The Program Mode menu Understanding Program Mode Program Mode allows configuration of the ETR-1000 register. Using this feature, the user can define what information appears on screens, what products the truck delivers, who can use the register and what they can access, and many other aspects of the register. The following section is an overview of how the Program Mode configuration parameters are organized. (To see brief descriptions of the individual settings, see appendix A: "System Configuration Values.") The System Directory contains configuration settings that affect the overall way the ETR-1000 register operates. This is where the user can modify settings that effect the characteristics of the overall register and the information displayed. Examples might be truck ID, units of measure and temperature units. The Meter Directory is where I/O and overall meter package information is configured. Configuration settings as digital input and output functions, meter model and size, K-Factor and flow direction are found here. Use the Product Directory to define the products the truck will carry. The Product Directory allows the user to define the product name and type as well as other properties of the product. (Product prices can also be adjusted in Run mode.) The products created in the Product Directory will appear in the Product select list on various ETR-1000 screens. Ticket Configuration allows you to define what information that appears on delivery tickets. Ticket Configuration is where the option to require printing tickets for deliveries can be found. The Security Directory allows management of the user accounts for the ETR This directory allows for assignment of passwords to the 5 system accounts, and optionally allows for the configuration of additional user-specific names and passwords. (See section 6 in this manual, "Configuration: Security Settings," and appendix B, "Security Access," for more information on how to use these controls and what they mean.) Page 35 MNTA001 Issue/Rev. 0.1 (9/17)

46 Security Settings 6 Configuration: Security Settings The ETR-1000 limits access to the different areas of its functionality through user profiles. User profiles are categorized into different user types, which have different levels of access. There are five pre-configured user types created for the register: 5 - Weights & Measures 4 - Administrative 3 - Service 2 - Operator Operator 1 The level of access increases with the level of user type, so that the Level 5 user (Weights and Measures) has access to all of the ETR-1000's functionality, and the Level 1 and 2 users (Operator 1 and Operator 2) have access only to the transaction controls, but not any configuration settings. Additionally, the ETR-1000 allows the creation of specific user profiles that are each assigned an access level that corresponds to the pre-configured user Levels 1 through 5. The Security Directory allows the user to create and manage these user profiles and assign them a level of access. The Security Directory settings also allows minor edits to the system-defined user profiles Opening the Security Directory On the Run screen, touch the MAIN MENU button. The Menu Menu.
