1 System Requirements SAS Digital Marketing 6.5 Overview This dcument prvides requirements fr installing and running SAS Digital Marketing sftware. Administratr privileges are required t install SAS sftware and updates. This requirement ensures that SAS Digital Marketing 6.5 can be cmpletely and safely installed. SAS Digital Marketing is a multi-tier applicatin cnsisting f cmpnents that are installed n the client tier, middle tier, and server tier. Each tier supprts a different set f platfrms, which are listed belw. Third-Party Supprt T keep pace with changes t third-party technlgies, SAS has adpted a general plicy f supprting ne r mre baseline majr versins and subsequent minr updates fr each fficially supprted perating system. Fr example, if the baseline fr SAS x is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1, SAS x will als supprt Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7 under this plicy. The full SAS Supprt plicy that applies t third-party sftware can be fund at As part f this plicy, SAS strngly encurages custmers t install the latest perating-system service packs. 1

2 SAS Digital Marketing 6.5 SAS Visual Analytics Administratin and Reprting 7.3 SAS Digital Marketing includes SAS Visual Analytics Administratin and Reprting (single machine, r SMP envirnment) by default. SAS Visual Analytics Administratin and Reprting is required t enable the Reprting Wrkspace in the CI Studi user interface. If SAS Visual Analytics Administratin and Reprting is nt installed, the Reprting Wrkspace will nt be available in yur system. This versin f SAS Visual Analytics Administratin and Reprting is nly supprted n 64-bit Linux and Windws perating systems. If SAS Digital Marketing will be installed n an perating system ther than the supprted versins f Linux r Windws, SAS Visual Analytics Administratin and Reprting must be installed n a separate machine. 5 System Requirements Prduct Requirements The middle tier f the SAS 9.4 Intelligence Platfrm includes a SAS web applicatin server and a SAS web server fr use as an HTTP server. When yu install yur SAS slutin sftware, SAS Deplyment Manager installs and cnfigures the required web applicatin servers and web servers. T install these servers, select ne f the supprted perating systems fr the middle tier. Nte: These servers cannt be installed n the z/os r 32-bit Windws platfrms. Server Tier SAS Digital Marketing servers run n the server tier t prvide metadata, data, and cmpute services. 7 System Requirements Use f a c-lcated Hadp File System (HDFS) is ptinal, but it requires a supprted Hadp envirnment and SAS Plug-ins fr Hadp (which are included with yur license). Fr mre infrmatin, see SAS High-Perfrmance Analytics Infrastructure 3.5: Installatin and Cnfiguratin Guide at SAS Metadata Server SAS makes the fllwing recmmendatins fr SAS Metadata Server deplyments: a 64-bit hst system a dedicated machine t simplify tuning, management, and diagnstics multi-cre server hardware because SAS Metadata Server is multi-threaded fur r mre cres fr prductin deplyments The disk I/O perfrmance f any server-class system shuld be sufficient. Memry requirements are highly dependent n the prduct mix and usage, but 8 GB f RAM are sufficient fr mst large deplyments. Fr many deplyments, 4 GB f RAM are sufficient and shuld be cnsidered a minimum, unless the specific deplyment is tested and verified t require less memry. If yur cnfiguratin deplys the Metadata Server n the same cmputer as the SAS Digital Marketing Server, the supprted perating systems are the same as thse listed abve fr the Server Tier. SAS Visual Analytics Administratin and Reprting supprts Windws 64-bit and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1 nly fr its Metadata Server and is nt supprted n any ther perating systems. Fr infrmatin abut patch levels, use the menus t see supprt infrmatin fr SAS 9.4 n the fllwing web page: Hardware Requirements Client Tier: Minimum Recmmended Hardware Nte: Mdern Intel r AMD prcessr running at 2.33 GHz r faster Memry: 1 GB abve yur current envirnment (fr bth Adbe Flash and SAS CI Studi) 128 MB graphical memry Disk Space: SAS Digital Marketing Studi 6.5 requires a minimum installatin space f apprximately 800 MB. SAS Digital Marketing Studi is a thick client that is useful fr server cnfiguratin, bradcast management, and cmplex bradcast editing ptins. A marketer can instead use SAS Custmer Intelligence Studi, a web-based client that prvides a user interface fr creating, mdifying, scheduling, and executing and SMS bradcasts. 7

8 SAS Digital Marketing 6.5 Middle Tier: Minimum Recmmended Hardware Memry The minimum recmmended memry fr the middle tier is 8 GB per cre. Memry requirements fr ptimal perfrmance may vary based n the requirements f ther web applicatins that are running, number f ttal and cncurrent users wh are accessing the SAS Digital Marketing applicatins, and the amunt f cntent accessed by each user. These requirements shuld be determined based n cnsultatin with SAS Enterprise Excellence Center. Disk Space SAS Custmer Intelligence Studi 6.5: 300 MB abve yur current envirnment. SAS Digital Marketing Web Studi and Web Reprting Infrastructure 6.5: 250 MB abve yur current envirnment. BESS (SDM Tracking servlets): 200 MB abve yur current envirnment. SAS Custmer Intelligence Reprting Mid-Tier 6.5: 250 MB abve yur current envirnment. Server Tier: Minimum Recmmended Hardware Fr memry and disk space requirements, see the SAS 9.4 system requirements lcated at under the relevant perating system. Database Supprt SAS Digital Marketing 6.5 can cnnect t varius databases. The fllwing list cntains the versins f databases with which SAS Digital Marketing is cmpatible: 8 IBM DB2/UDB versins 10.1, 10.5 and 11.1 IBM Netezza versins 6.0, 6.1, and 7.0 Micrsft SQL Server versins 2008, 2008 R2, and 2012 Enterprise Editin SAS/ACCESS t OLE DB; nly supprted n Windws Micrsft SQL Server versins 2008, 2008 R2 and 2012 Standard Editin (supprts n mre than 10 millin custmer recrds) SAS/ACCESS t OLE DB; nly supprted n Windws Micrsft SQL Server 2014 Enterprise Editin using the SQL Server 2012 native client SAS/ACCESS t OLEDB is required. Fr the libname parameter, the prvider must be set as PROVIDER=SQLNCLI11. Oracle 11g, 11.2, 12.1, and 12.2 Ntes: If yur installatin includes Oracle Database 12c, nte that Oracle Multitenant architecture is nt supprted. Teradata versins 13.0, 13.1, 14.0, 14.1, 15.0 and 15.1 Ntes: Mixing f databases will nt perfrm t an acceptable level and is nt recmmended. T avid pssible issues with cncurrent updates, d nt hld SAS Digital Marketing Respnse and Opt-Out tables as SAS Datasets. SAS recmmends using anther supprted database, r if necessary, using SAS/SHARE. Fr mre infrmatin, see SAS Nte 47241, available at Specific Prduct Requirements SAS Digital Marketing requires a Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) Server. A Mail Transfer Agent is a mail server prgram. MTAs interact with each ther generally thrugh the Internet. Yu must fulfill this requirement by acquiring an MTA frm a third-party vendr f chice. Fr example, yu can install Cde-crafter s Ability Mail Server. Nte: Mst high-perfrmance MTAs autmatically implement dmain thrttling. Fr high-vlume implementatins that require dmain thrttling, such as a daily transmissin rate that exceeds a few hundred thusand, thrttling at the MTA level will be required. SAS als advises yu t use an MTA when the rganizatin needs t send campaigns that have ffers that are fr shrt perids; fr example, use an MTA when recipients need t respnd quickly t ffers that are valid fr ne day. In additin t a third-party MTA, an SMS/MMS gateway is required in rder t send ut SMS/MMS bradcasts. Recmmended gateways are Clickatell and NwSMS. It is yur respnsibility t satisfy this requirement if yu are interested in sending ut SMS/MMS bradcasts. Cntact the third-party vendr f chice fr pricing. Yu must als prvide a fully cnfigured server. JavaMail supprts Simple Mail Transfer Prtcl (SMTP), Pst Office Prtcl (POP), and Internet Message Access Prtcl (IMAP) cmmunicatin methds with an MTA. Nte: IMAP supprt fr the JavaMail applicatin prgramming interface (API) is experimental in this versin f SAS Digital Marketing, and the assciated functinality, such as sub-flder prcessing, is nt supprted.
