10 2 Initial connection 2.1 Setup wizard Restart the recorder: the system restarts Once the system has started up, the setup wizard offers to configure the recorder quickly in 6 optional steps. You can go back to a previous step, or do so later via the general menu (see detailed guide) Hard disk management The wizard checks the presence of the hard disk and its capacity, the overwrite mode (minimum 1 day) or when the disk is full and the possibility of formatting. Click on Next to go to the next step. Note: If no hard disk is connected, a red H appears at the bottom of the grid on the screen Recording management Day of the week Camera Recording mode (continuous, detection of movement, wired alarm). Note: The SMTP settings are given by the service provider DDNS configuration (see also Section on creating a dynamic DNS account) Activate DDNS Select the DNS server (default: NO IP) Name of the recorder Name of the DNS user DNS password User manual Select the DNS server corresponding to the service used (for example No-IP) in the Server dropdown menu. Enter the name of the host (created in step 1-7 in the next section ( Configuring a dynamic DNS account ) in the Domain field. Note: The DDNS can be configured on the box instead of on the recorder. For this, please refer to the documentation for the box. The setup wizard is now complete. 13

Right-click to return to the main menu Local connection (Windows) The recorder can be accessed via the Internet Explorer web browser (versions IE7 to IE11). Step 1: Open Internet Explorer. Step 2: Enter the recorder s IP address in the address bar. Step 3: If the system displays a warning message asking you to install the RSVideoOcx.cab control, click on the OK button so that the system installs it automatically. Step 4: If the file does not install, decrease the Internet Explorer security level (see example below) or deactivate the phishing filter. Check that you have administrator rights on the Windows session. 20

Default: - User Name : Password : Client Port : Step 6: Select the stream in the Bitrate dropdown menu (select Sub stream if the network performance level is poor). Step 7: The default language is English. If you need web access in another language, use the Quick VMS tool. Step 8: Check the Remember Pwd box to remember the password. Step 9: Check the Open All Channels Preview box to show the multi-view display from all the cameras. Step 10: Click on Login to log in. 21

22 2.2.5 Local connection (Mac OS) The recorder can be accessed via the Safari web browser. Step 1: Open Safari. Step 2: Enter the recorder s IP address in the address bar. Step 3: If the system displays a warning message asking you to install the RSVideoOcx.cab control, click on the OK button so that the system installs it automatically. Step 4: Enter the user name and password. Default: - User Name : Password : Client Port : Step 5: Select the stream in the Bitrate dropdown menu (select Sub stream if the network performance level is poor). Step 6: Select the language in the Language dropdown menu. Step 7: Check the Remember Pwd box to remember the password. Step 8: Check the Open All Channels Preview box to show the multi-view display from all the cameras. Step 9: Click on Login to log in. 22

23 4-camera PAL AHD DVR 8-camera PAL AHD DVR 16-camera PAL AHD DVR Remote connection To connect to the recorder from a computer on the local area network, follow the instructions in Sections to To connect to the recorder from a computer that is not on the local area network, you must first connect to the external IP address of the router. To do this, you must obtain the following information from the internet service provider (ISP): - Type of IP address (static or dynamic). - If the IP address is dynamic, whether it is possible to obtain a static IP address. If it is, request one. If the IP address is static, go to Section If the IP address is dynamic and it is not possible to obtain a static address, the access must be configured with a dynamic DNS account. The modem routers provided by telephone operators, often referred to as Boxes, are the exclusive property of the operators. They may be updated or reconfigured at any time, which may change or delete the configurations previously set by the customer. User manual Configuring a dynamic DNS account (see Section ) 23

24 3 Standard functions 3.1 Configuring the settings for recordings By default, the recorder records continuously (normal) + movement detection on all connected cameras (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) Configuring the settings for continuous recording Step 1: Activate/Deactivate recording Activating recording determines which cameras can be recorded (manually or scheduled). Step 1-1: Click on the button in the taskbar to go to the main menu. Step 1-2: Click on the PARAMETER button then RECORD to display the RECORD menu. Select the camera Activate the channel Activate recording Copy the settings Channel to be copied to Step 1-3: Select the camera in the Channel dropdown menu. Step 1-4: Activate/Deactivate recording by selecting it in the Record Switch dropdown menu. Step 1-5: Click on Save to confirm. Step 1-6: Click on the Cancel button or right-click to return to the main menu. Step 1-7: Right-click to exit the main menu. Step 2: Setting the continuous recording schedule Setting the schedule determines the time period during which the cameras for which recording has been activated will record. Step 2-1: Click on the button in the taskbar to go to the main menu. Step 2-2: Click on the PARAMETER button then RECORD Step 2-3: Go the the Record Schedule submenu to display the recording schedule menu. Step 2-4: Select the camera in the Channel dropdown menu. 24

25 4-camera PAL AHD DVR 8-camera PAL AHD DVR 16-camera PAL AHD DVR Step 2-5: Select the day of the week in the left-hand column: (S=Sunday, M=Monday, T=Tuesday, W=Wednesday, T=Thursday, F=Friday, S=Saturday) Step 2-6: Set the continuous recording periods on the first line of the schedule (a green/orange/red block indicates that continuous recording/on detection of movement/on external alarm is set for the time period) Step 2-7: Copy this schedule from the selected camera to the camera(s) selected in the dropdown menu. Step 2-8: Click on Copy to start copying. Notes: - The green blocks on the first line of the schedule represent Normal recording, i.e. not linked to an alarm or movement detection event (default setting: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week). - The yellow blocks on the second line of the schedule represent Motion recording, i.e. following detection of movement in the image (default setting: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week). - The red blocks on the third line of the schedule represent Alarm recording, i.e. following activation of an alarm input contact. - Each block represents a half-hour period. If it is coloured (green, yellow, red) the required recording type is active. Example: Schedule recording on camera 1 every Sunday from 11:00 to 15:00. Step 1: Select CH1 in the Channel dropdown menu. Step 2: Place the mouse on the S (Saturday) line. Step 3: Click on 11 and drag to 15. Step 4: Click on Save to save before exiting. Step 5: Click on Cancel to exit. 25

26 3.1.2 Configuring the manual recording settings Manual recording is activated or deactivated using the start or stop button in each camera s taskbar. Click on the camera s image to display the camera s sub-taskbar. Click on the Video button in the sub-taskbar to start manual recording. A red R (Record) confirms that recording is activated. Press the Video button again to stop recording. Note: - The recording function must be activated for manual recording to work (see Step 1-2). - Manual recording can only be activated if none of the cameras is in automatic recording mode. Once manual recording is activated, it takes priority over all other schedules. 3.2 Playing back a recording Step 1: Click on the button in the taskbar to go to the main menu. Step 2: Click on the Record Search button to display the Record Search menu. 26

28 Note 1: Use the icon to select the start of a sequence (click once) and the end of a sequence (click again). A window then appears in which you can select the recording format for this sequence When you click on Save, a recording window appears, in which you can, for example, save the sequence to a USB key which has been inserted in one of the USB connectors. Note 2: The icon can be used to identify specific areas on the image so that the sequences in which this area of the image has changed can be easily identified. Click on the icon. A submenu appears at the bottom of the full-screen playback: Select the grid Click and drag to select the area to be analysed 28

Right-click to return to the previous screen. 3.3 Exporting a recording to a USB key/hard disk Step 1: Click on the button in the taskbar to go to the main menu. Step 2: Click on the Record Search button, then the Events button in the submenus. The backup/export screen appears. 29

32 4 Advanced functions 4.1 Alarm and movement detection Configuring the settings for recording and other actions on external alarm This function can, for example, be used to remove any doubt regarding detection of a possible intrusion by an alarm system. Step 1: Wire one alarm input and/or output Step 1-1: Switch off the recorder. Step 1-2: Wire one alarm input between one numbered terminal (1 to 4 for a 4-channel recorder, 1 to 8 for an 8/16- channel recorder and 1 to 16 for a 16-channel recorder) and terminal G, and/or one alarm output between the two terminals marked ALARM. Step 1-3: When the wiring has been completed, the recorder can be switched back on using the switch on the back. Step 2-5: Define the period during which the input contact remains disabled after an alarm in the Latch Time dropdown menu. Step 2-6: Configure the actions to be carried out when there is an alarm: - Check the Alarm Out box so that the output contact toggles when an alarm is triggered. - Check the Show Message box so that a warning message is displayed when an alarm is triggered. - Check the Send box so that an is sent when an alarm is triggered (see the section on notification). - Select 10, 20, 40 or 60 to determine the duration of the buzzer (in seconds) when an alarm is triggered. - Check the Full Screen box so that the camera which is recording is displayed in full screen when an alarm is triggered. Step 2-7: Select which camera is to record when there is an alarm by checking the corresponding box. Step 2-8: Define the recording time after an alarm has ended in the Post Recording dropdown menu. Notes: - When an alarm is triggered, recording can be on one camera or all the cameras. - These steps must be carried out camera by camera or can be copied from one camera to another by clicking on the Copy button in the Copy line. Step 3: Record on alarm Step 3-1: Click on the button in the taskbar to go to the main menu. Step 3-9: Right-click to exit the main menu Configuring the settings for recording and other actions on movement detection This function provides a pre-alarm or optimises the use of the hard disk, but does not replace an intrusion detection system. 52 Step 9: Click on Login to log in Remote connection To connect to the recorder from a computer on the local area network, follow the instructions in Sections to To connect to the recorder from a computer that is not on the local area network, you must first connect to the external IP address of the router. To do this, you must obtain the following information from the internet service provider (ISP): - Type of IP address (static or dynamic). - If the IP address is dynamic, whether it is possible to obtain a static IP address. If it is, request one. If the IP address is static, go to Section If the IP address is dynamic and it is not possible to obtain a static address, the access must be configured with a dynamic DNS account. The modem routers provided by telephone operators, often referred to as Boxes, are the exclusive property of the operators. They may be updated or reconfigured at any time, which may change or delete the configurations previously set by the customer. 52

53 Configuring a dynamic DNS account This procedure is necessary if the internet service provider has not given a static public IP address. The ports must be redirected (NAT configuration) for remote access: Method 1: Automatic configuration (with UPnP) The UPnP IGD can be used to configure port redirection automatically. Step 1-1: Open the router configuration menu by entering its IP address in the web browser s address bar. Step 1-2: Refer to the router s user manual for how to configure the UPnP IGD. It includes functions for live viewing, taking instant photos and playing back recordings. Step 1: Add a new device by pressing the Edit button, then selecting Add a camera.
