1 SystemTweaker Quick Start Guide SystemTweaker is a safe and easy-to-use tool to customize Windows to your individual taste. This quick start guide will help you to install the product and start using it. Downloading and installing SystemTweaker is offered exclusively as a free product with the purchase of other Uniblue software. After purchasing your software you will receive an with your order details, a link to download your product and a serial number for activation. To download, click on the SystemTweaker download link and, if prompted, select Save. Then locate the.exe file and double click on its icon to start the installation wizard. Follow the wizard by clicking on the Next button. The wizard will prompt you to enter your serial number to activate your product. The serial number can be found in the order details sent to you after purchasing the product. Interface overview 1. Navigation panel: click to navigate across major interface categories. 2. LiveUpdate box: provides registered users covered by ActiveProtection access to product updates as they become available. 3. System overview box: provides shortcuts to critical system controls. Applying Tweaks To apply a tweak, select Tweaks from the navigation panel. A menu on the left-hand side allows you to select from different tweak categories. Tick or untick the boxes of the tweaks you would like to change and click Apply. Note: Some tweaks will only be implemented after you restart your system. A pop-up will inform you whenever this is the case.

2 Tweaks outlined This is a brief outline of the tweaks you can apply through SystemTweaker. Not all tweaks are available for each version of Windows, so you will only be able to view the tweaks compatible with your Windows version. Windows Change active window by mouse hover This tweak will enable you to change the active windows by moving the mouse over to the window you want to work on. This can replace the Alt+Tab button combination to change active windows. Enable smooth scrolling This tweak allows you to scroll smoothly, avoiding jittery movements during long scrolls. Fade out menu items This tweak will fade out menu items once a selection has been made. Show shadows under menus. This tweak will show shadows under windows menus for a 3D visual effect. Show translucent selection rectangle This tweak will show the selection tool as a translucent rectangle when making a selection. Slide open Combo Boxes This tweak will slide open combo boxes creating an animated visual effect. Combo boxes are drop-down menus that include an editable text-box. Animate Task-bar buttons This tweak will animate Task-bar buttons when opening or closing a window. Fonts smooth edging This tweak enables font smooth edging for clearer text. Hide Recycle Bin This tweak will hide the Recycle Bin from the Desktop. To see deleted items, the Recycle Bin can still be accessed through Windows Explorer. Use Windows classic logon screen The Windows classic logon screen allows you to login to Windows by entering your full username and password. Enable Title Bar color shading This tweak allows you to set color shading in Windows Title Bar for a more personalized appearance. Enable drop-shadows for Desktop icons. This tweak enables drop shadows for all desktop icons for a 3D look. Enable mouse pointer shadow This tweak will add a shadow to the mouse pointer for a 3D look and feel.

3 Only an Administrator can approve Windows Updates This tweak will only allow user accounts with Administrator rights to approve Windows updates for installation. Hide all Desktop items. This tweak will hide all icons available on the Desktop. Hide File Menu options in Windows Explorer This tweak will hide the File Menu options from the Menu Bar in Windows Explorer. Hide the Network Connection icon from My Computer This tweak hides the Network Connection icon found in My Computer. Hide the option to connect and disconnect to network drives using My Network Places This tweak will hide the option which allows you to map network drives through My Network Places. Hide Network Places in Windows Explorer This tweak will hide Network Places as an option when using Windows Explorer. Hide Entire Network in Network Neighborhood This tweak will hide networks outside the local domain or workgroup from being visible in Network Neighborhood. Hide workgroup contents in Network Neighborhood This tweak will hide all contents available in your network workgroup when using Network Neighborhood. Set thumbnail picture quality This tweak allows you to define the quality of picture thumbnails throughout your computer. Set thumbnail size This tweak allows you to define the size of picture thumbnails throughout your computer. Start Menu Hide/Show the Turn Off Computer icon Turn-Off Computer allows you to switch-off your Computer from the Start Menu. Hide the Log Off User icon Log-Off User allows you to log off your user account from the Start menu. Add Internet Explorer Favorites and Bookmarks as a Start Menu item. This tweak will add Internet Explorer s saved Favorites and Bookmarks as an entry in the Start Menu. Hide Printers and Faxes This tweak hides the Printers and Faxes shortcut from the Start Menu which allows you to manage installed printers and faxes installed on your PC.

4 Show Control Panel, Network Connections and Printers and Faxes under Settings This tweak will show icons for Control Panel, Network Connections and Printers and Faxes under the Settings menu item when using Classic Start Menu. Hide Taskbar and Start Menu under Settings in Classic Start Menu This tweak will hide the Taskbar and Start Menu option under Menu Item Settings when using the Classic Start Menu. Show Search This tweak will show the Search option in the Start Menu, allowing you to search for files and folders saved on drives you are connected to. Enable Start Menu mouse-scrolling This tweak enables you to scroll through the Start Menu with your mouse. Hide All Users items This tweak will hide items installed under the All Users profile from the All Programs menu. Hide Run This tweak will hide the Run command from the Start menu. The Run command is used to manually launch a variety of applications and system and network locations. Control Panel Hide Administrative Tools This tweak allows you to hide Administrative Tools from the Control Panel. Hide Internet Options This tweak allows you to hide Internet Options from the Control Panel. Hide Keyboard This tweak allows you to hide Keyboard from the Control Panel. Hide Phone and Modem Options This tweak allows you to hide Phone and Modem Options from the Control Panel. Hide Power Options This tweak allows you to hide Power Options from the Control Panel. Hide Sounds and Audio Devices This tweak allows you to hide Sounds and Audio Devices from the Control Panel. Hide Network Connections This tweak allows you to hide Network Connections from the Control Panel. Show Control Panel sub-folders as a drop-down menu. The Control Panel contains a number of applets which allow you to modify and set a number of system settings. With this tweak enabled, each applet will be available through the Start Menu, giving you easier access to the settings you need.

5 Hide Display This tweak allows you to hide Display from the Control Panel. Hide Mouse This tweak allows you to hide Mouse from the Control Panel. Hide Regional and Language Options This tweak allows you to hide Regional and Language Options from the Control Panel. Hide Security Center This tweak allows you to hide Security Center from the Control Panel. Hide Game Controller This tweak allows you to hide Game Controller from the Control Panel. Right-Click Context-Menu Show Open With option This tweak adds the Open With option in the right-click context menu. Open With allows you to choose your favorite program to open certain type of files. Disable right-click whilst browsing Windows Explorer This tweak will block the right-click context menu from appearing whenever right-clicking in Windows Explorer. Disable right-click Windows Taskbar This tweak will block the right-click context menu from appearing whenever right-clicking in Windows Taskbar. Show Command Prompt This tweak adds a Command Prompt option in the right-click context menu. The Command Prompt is a command-line interpreter included with Windows Operating Systems. General System Settings Silence PC speakers when a system error occurs Whenever a system error occurs, the internal PC speaker beeps as an auditory notice. With this tweak, the speaker is effectively silenced. Reboot Windows automatically after a Blue Screen of Death error The Blue Screen of Death is an error from which the Operating System is not able to recover. With this tweak the PC will be automatically restarted after encountering this error. Disable the Desktop Cleanup Wizard In some instances, the Desktop Cleanup Wizard may be scheduled to run every number of days. This tweak will halt the set schedule.

6 Preserve program preference during print jobs Preserve program preference during print jobs. Turn off Taskbar notifications. The Taskbar is an important element in the Windows GUI which hosts the Start Menu and Notification Area. Taskbar notifications keep you informed of certain events that occur. This tweak will turn off all notifications. Turn Numlock on at logon When Numlock is switched on, it enables you to use the numpad located at the right-hand side of your keyboard. This tweak will enable it by default at logon. Disable User Access Control This tweak will disable the User Access Control function on your PC. User Access Control is a security feature which limits the rights of application software to run, requiring Administrative authorization. Hide Shared and User s Documents in My Computer. This tweak will hide the Files Stored on This Computer section in My Computer. Enable Task Panes in Windows Explorer This tweak enables Task Panes in Windows Explorer. Task Panes are panels typically docked on the left hand side of windows with shortcuts to common functions such as File and Folder Tasks and Details. Enable Contiguous file allocation size This tweak will enable contiguous file allocation size, particularly beneficial for disk-intensive applications since the disk head will only move small distances. Allow Windows Desktop to load while Login Script is running This tweak allows logon scripts and Windows Explorer to load simultaneously. Clear pagefile every time Windows is shut down The pagefile is an important aspect of the Operating System, acting as an extension to the RAM. It is a section reserved in the hard-drive and helps the system by providing extra space should the available space on the RAM run out. This tweak will clear all data from the pagefile every time the system is shut down, giving you a fresh start when starting the PC back up again. Run Windows Desktop as a separate process. This process runs the Windows Desktop as a separate process from the Taskbar and other Windows Explorer instances. Connect associated files and folders When moving or copying internet files such as.htm this feature will move or copy any other files associated with the file you are moving. Open My Computer in Windows Explorer. This tweak will open My Computer directly into Windows Explorer. Enable faster access to AVI media files This tweak allows you to open AVI video files faster. Enable Windows Media Player to open and play DVDs This tweak allows Windows Media Player to play DVDs.

7 Automatically start playing audio CDs when they are inserted This tweak starts playing audio CDs automatically in your default multi-media player whenever they are inserted in an Optical Drive. Local Network Broadcast newly shared printer availability over the network Whenever a printer is shared over a network, its availability can be broadcast to all computers connected to that network. Disable access to the CD/DVD Drive through remote connections. Remote connections can be a helpful and resourceful feature for sharing resources and getting assistance however you might want to limit the access to resources given during any such connection. This tweak disables access to your optical drive to anyone connected remotely. Enable Printer Sharing This tweak enables Printer Sharing, allowing printers connected to this PC to be shared across the network. Enable File Sharing This tweak enables File Sharing, allowing files on this PC to be shared across the network. Hide the A network cable has been unplugged notification from the icon tray. Whenever a network cable is unplugged, a notification pops up in the icon tray. This tweak stops the notification from being displayed. Enable load balancing when more than one network adaptor is available This tweak will distribute network traffic between Network Interface Cards whenever 2 or more are available. Show network errors statistics This tweak will display error statistics for LAN and WAN connections in the Network Connection Status page, providing useful information for diagnosing issues. Internet Show the Search Box This tweak will show the search box next to the address bar. Show Menu Bar This tweak will show the Menu Bar. Position Menu Bar over the Address Bar This tweak will place the Menu Bar right above the Address Bar. Open Pop-Ups as a new window This tweak will open Pop-Ups in a new Internet Explorer window.
