4 Linux* Release Notes for the Intel Unite Software version 3.2 The Intel Unite software version 3.2 now supports client devices with Linux* Operating Systems. This document covers all the details for this new functionality in the Intel Unite Solution. Audience This document is intended for use by IT personnel deploying and adding feature capabilities to the Intel Unite Solution. Supported Operating Systems The following Operating Systems are supported on this release: Redhat Enterprise 7 Fedora 26 Ubuntu 16 LTS & 17 Non-LTS Installation The preferred and most reliable way to install the Intel Unite solution is from the command line as follows: Redhat Enterprise & Fedora sudo yum install /yourpath/intel-unite-client x86_64.rpm Ubuntu sudo apt-get install gdebi sudo gdebi /yourpath/intel-unite-client_3.2.0_amd64.deb Additionally a bzip version of the product is available for manual installation. 5 Support for Wayland Display Server The Intel Unite solution does not currently support the Wayland display server protocol found in newer Linux* distros. In order for the Intel Unite solution to properly function, you must use the Xorg display server protocol and can do so via the following steps: 1) Restart your desktop. 2) Click on your user. 3) Click on the small gear next to the Sign In button. 4) Select GNOME on Xorg on newer versions of Fedora or Ubuntu on Xorg on newer versions of Ubuntu. 5) Complete the login process.
