Getting Started NetWorker server software NMC server software NetWorker Authentication Service NetWorker storage node software NetWorker client software The NetWorker Installation Guide describes how to install the NetWorker server, storage node, client, and NMC software. Install a supported version of the NetWorker server software on the NetWorker server host. The NetWorker server host is usually a separate host, but the server host can also be the NMSAP host. You might require specific NetWorker server versions to support specific NMSAP features as described in the NMSAP release notes. Use a supported version of the NetWorker server that works with the NetWorker client version installed on the NMSAP host. The operating systems that are used must support the NetWorker server version that is used. Install a supported version of the NMC software on a network host to provide a user interface with the NetWorker software and NMSAP. The NetWorker Authentication Service provides centralized token-based authentication to components in the NetWorker environment. NetWorker uses the NetWorker Authentication Service to authenticate NMC and CLI users. You can configure the NetWorker Authentication Service to use a local user database or external identity providers (LDAP and AD) for authentication. The NetWorker Installation Guide provides details on the installation and configuration requirements for the NetWorker Authentication Service software. Install a supported version of the NetWorker storage node software on the host that manages the backup storage devices. You can configure a NetWorker storage node on the same host as the NetWorker server, on the same host as NMSAP to support backups to a local device, or on a separate host. Use a supported version of the NetWorker storage node that works with the NetWorker client version installed on the NMSAP host and with the NetWorker server. The operating systems that are used must support the NetWorker storage node version. Install a supported version of the NetWorker client software on the supported SAP server host before you install NMSAP on that host. Install both the NetWorker base client and extended client software packages. On an SAP Oracle server, NMSAP can use the NetWorker Snapshot Management (NSM) feature to provide a high-availability storage environment for snapshot backups and restores. To enable the snapshot operations, install the NetWorker base client and extended client software packages on both of the following hosts: NMSAP host A mount host NetWorker server software 13

Getting Started Some operating systems and volume managers require that you configure a mount host on a separate host from the database host. For example, Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) and Linux Logical Volume Manager (LVM) do not support the use of the database host as the mount host. The NetWorker Snapshot Management Integration Guide provides a full list of restrictions and details. The NetWorker extended client package must be installed to enable the following functionality on the host: NSM CLI utilities for server reporting and administration, such as mminfo, nsradmin, and nsrinfo Cluster integration scripts Custom script integration tools (pre/post save) Audit log Cloning and staging ProtectPoint for VMAX ProtectPoint for RecoverPoint The NetWorker Installation Guide provides details about the NetWorker base and extended client packages. NMSAP software Install NMSAP on a supported SAP server. For split-mirror backups on an SAP Oracle server, also install NMSAP on the mount host. SAP BR*Tools software Installation checklists On an SAP Oracle server, install a supported SAP BR*Tools version. The SAP documentation describes the supported operating systems. If you install NMSAP in a non-english environment, ensure that you meet the following requirements: The host operating system supports internationalization (I18N). The SAP Oracle software and BR*Tools software provide the required National Language Support (NLS) or globalization support. The SAP Oracle software and BR*Tools software are configured with the required non-ascii character set. Review the following checklists to ensure that you have the required materials for the NMSAP installation procedures. If you use the nsrpush command, type the complete product name as NetWorker Module for SAP with the quotation marks. Complete the following steps to update NMSAP with the Package Manager. Road map to update NMSAP with the Package Manager 19

Getting Started Procedure 1. Review the Installation checklists on page Ensure that you meet the following requirements: NMSAP 4.5 or later is installed on the NMSAP host, and the operating systems support the Package Manager. You cannot perform an update of earlier NMSAP releases. The NetWorker Updating from a Previous Release Guide at the Support website describes the operating systems that support the Package Manager feature on the NMSAP host. The NMSAP client host contains a supported version of the NetWorker client software. The user that performs the update is both an NMC administrator and a member of the application administrator's user group on the NetWorker server. 3. Before you start an update, ensure that all backups and restores are stopped on the client to be updated. The Package Manager might stop and restart the NetWorker client nsrexecd daemon or service during the installation. Road map to post-installation procedures 4. On the NetWorker server, perform the update of the NMSAP client by using the Package Manager feature or the nsrpush command. The NetWorker Updating from a Previous Release Guide provides more information. 5. Perform all the required post-installation procedures on the client host. Road map to post-installation procedures on page 20 provides details. After you have installed or updated NMSAP, either directly on a local host or by remote installation with Package Manager, complete the following post-installation procedures. Procedure 1. Enable the NMSAP backup program: On an SAP HANA server, perform either of the following tasks: Copy the hdbbackint program file from the default NetWorker binary installation directory (for example, /usr/sbin) or the / relocation_path/sbin installation directory (Linux) to the /usr/sap/sid/sys/global/hdb/opt directory. 20 NetWorker Module for SAP 9.2 Installation Guide If you installed NMSAP in a nondefault directory, then specify the path to the sbin directory. Create a symbolic link that points from /usr/sap/sid/sys/ global/hdb/opt/hdbbackint to the actual hdbbackint program file.

Getting Started Create the opt subdirectory manually if it does not exist. SAP HANA requires the hdbbackint program to be accessible from the /usr/sap/sid/sys/global/hdb/opt directory. Ensure that the SIDadm operating system user has executable permissions on the hdbbackint file, where SID is the system ID of the SAP HANA system. On an SAP Oracle server, perform one of the following tasks: Copy the backint program from the /usr/sbin directory (UNIX or Linux) or the NetWorker_install_directory\nsr\bin directory (Windows) to the directory where the SAP BR*Tools reside. Create a symbolic link that points from where the SAP BR*Tools reside to /usr/sbin/backint (UNIX or Linux only). For BR*Tools 7.10 or later, set util_path=full path to directory containing backint in the BR*Tools configuration file, initdbsid.sap. 2. If you are installing NMSAP for the first time on the host, register and enable NMSAP to work with the NetWorker software. The NetWorker Licensing Guide describes licensing and enabling of software. The EMC Software Price Guide describes the licensing requirements for NetWorker modules. If you are updating from a previous NMSAP release, you do not need to reenable the software. 3. If you perform SAP split-mirror backup operations on an SAP Oracle server, install and enable the required replication management software. Install NMSAP on both the production host and the mount (data mover) host. Refer to the replication management software documentation for additional details. 4. Ensure that the automatic wizard registration succeeded: a. Log in as the root user (UNIX or Linux) or system administrator (Windows). b. At a new command prompt, type the appropriate command: On UNIX or Linux, type the following command: nsradmin -p nsrexecd On Windows, type the following command: nsradmin.exe -p nsrexecd c. At the nsradmin> prompt, type the following command: print type: NSR remote agent Check that the command output includes the correct values for "backup type" (database or application type that you want to protect) and "product Road map to post-installation procedures 21

Getting Started version" (version of NMSAP that you installed). You can run the exit command to return to the original console. If the command output is missing or does not contain the correct values, then the NetWorker Remote Exec service (the nsrexecd or nsrexecd.exe program) was not running during the NMSAP installation. Perform one of the following corrective actions: Start the NetWorker Remote Exec service, and then reinstall NMSAP. Register the wizard manually by typing the appropriate command from the following table. To unregister the wizard manually, use the command from the table but replace the -i option with -u. Table 6 Command to register the wizard Operating system Wizard registration command UNIX or Linux For SAP HANA: nsrhanara -i For SAP Oracle: nsrsapra -i Microsoft Windows For SAP Oracle: nsrsapra.exe -i 5. If you cannot access the NMSAP man pages (UNIX or Linux only) with the man command, modify the MANPATH environment variable to include the pathname of the directory that contains the NMSAP man pages. The NMSAP man pages are located in the same directory as NetWorker client man pages. For example, if the man pages are located in the default directory, ensure that MANPATH includes /usr/share/man. 6. Optionally, register the NMSAP product information with the SAP System Landscape Directory (SLD). Registering NMSAP product information with the SAP SLD repository (optional) on page 23 provides details. 7. On UNIX or Linux, to ensure the success of backups and restores, check that the /nsr/applogs directory and its subdirectories have the permissions. The NMSAP installation sets the permissions to for /nsr/applogs and its subdirectories. These permissions are required for non-root database users to create temporary files and logs during backups and restores. The sticky bit is also set to ensure that the files can be removed only by the file owners. For example, the permissions appear as follows: drwxrwxrwt 2 root root 4096 Dec 22 12:17 /nsr/applogs 8. On Windows, to ensure the success of backups and restores, completed the following tasks: Restart the database services. Close and reopen any command prompt window or console that will be used to run backups or restores. 22 NetWorker Module for SAP 9.2 Installation Guide

Getting Started 9. Configure the NMSAP software. The NetWorker Module for SAP Administration Guide provides details. Registering NMSAP product information with the SAP SLD repository (optional) As part of the NMSAP installation, SAP recommends that you register the NMSAP product information for the installation with the SAP System Landscape Directory (SLD). Procedure 1. Locate the nwsldreg.xml file, and open the file in a text editor. Do not use a word processor. The NMSAP installation stores a copy of this file, which has been preconfigured with the NMSAP information except for the computer hostname, in the following location: On UNIX or Linux: /etc/nwsldreg.xml On Windows: NetWorker_install_directory\nsr\bin \nwsldreg.xml 2. Change all occurrences of the word ComputerName to the hostname of the computer on which you installed NMSAP, using the FQDN for the hostname. 3. Save the file. 4. Ensure that the SAP SLD server is running. The SAP documentation provides details. 5. Type the following sldreg command at the command line to send the edited file to the SLD server: sldreg -user username -pass password -host sld_server -port http_port -file nwsldreg.xml where: username and password are the login credentials on the SLD host. sld_server is the name of the SLD host. http_port is the port that is configured for HTTP connections on the SLD host. If you have configured the HTTP server to use HTTPS, add the option - usehttps. nwsldreg.xml is the XML file to send to the SLD host. The following sources provide more details: The sldreg command, run without options The SAP website Registering NMSAP product information with the SAP SLD repository (optional) 23

EnableRMAN=1 installs the RMAN component during the installation. This option sets the EnableRMAN parameter to 1. The default value of the parameter is 0. Only install the RMAN component on a host that does not use NMDA to protect data. For example, the following command performs a silent NMSAP installation that installs the RMAN component and logs messages in the C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\logs\nmsap_installation.log file: NMSAP.exe /s /q /l "C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\logs \nmsap_installation.log" EnableRMAN=1 3. Verify that the system Path environment variable includes the NetWorker client installation directory. For example: a. Browse to Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings. b. On the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables. c. In the System Variables section, verify the Path variable. If required, add the NetWorker client installation directory. The NetWorker client directory pathname can include spaces. There cannot be spaces before or after the pathname. 4. If you installed NetWorker software for the first time or changed the system Path variable, restart the Windows system and verify that any required database instances and services were restarted. 5. Return to the installation road map to perform any post-installation procedures. As part of these procedures, ensure that the NMSAP automatic wizard registration succeeded by using the following commands: nsradmin.exe -p nsrexecd nsradmin> print type: NSR remote agent Road map to post-installation procedures on page 20 provides complete details.
