2 Introduction Introduction Thank you for using Visual Nexus. Visual Nexus is a system that both improves the speed and decreases the costs of business communications by connecting distant locations in real-time via high quality audio and video. This manual is the Visual Nexus Endpoint installation guide. Please read this manual before installing/ uninstalling Visual Nexus. When installing Visual Nexus, you are required to sign a User License Agreement. 5 Before Installation 1 Before Installation 1.1 Introduction This manual describes the installation procedures and initial setup for using the Visual Nexus Client software. You may select either Visual Nexus Meeting Manager and/or Visual Nexus Secure Transport Client depending on your intended use. After setup please refer to the Visual Nexus Meeting Manager or Visual Nexus Secure Transport Client Online Help or the User Guides for information relating to using these systems. 1.2 Operating Environment The following describes the minimum environment required for installing Visual Nexus Client software Compatible OS o Windows XP Home Edition / Professional SP1, SP2, SP3 (32bit) o Windows Vista Ultimate, SP1 (32bit) o Windows Vista Home Premium, SP1 (32bit) o Windows Vista Home Basic, SP1 (32bit) o Windows Vista Business, SP1 (32bit) o Windows Vista Enterprise, SP1 (32bit) Recommended Hardware Specifications [Windows XP] o CPU: Intel Pentium 4 (at least 3.0GHz recommended) o Memory: at least 512MB o Free Hard Drive Space: at least 50MB Please contact to our agent about meeting condition that you can use, for example, the number of channels, codec etc. [Windows Vista] * The system environment under which Windows Vista can be used is a precondition. 6 Before Installation o CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (at least 1.66GHz recommended) o Memory: at least 1GB o Free Hard Drive Space: at least 50MB Minimum Hardware Specifications [Windows XP] o CPU: Intel Celeron (at least 1.7GHz) o Memory: at least 256MB o Free Hard Drive Space: at least 50MB The minimum hardware specification supports the following configuration: System Item Restriction PC Setup Colour Quality Medium (16bits) Meeting Server Setup Meetings Video Codec H.263 Image Size CIF Audio Codec G.711 Bandwidth 384Kbps 2 Video Windows You should use the Recommended Hardware Specification if you wish to experience unrestricted Visual Nexus Meetings. [Windows Vista] * The system environment under which Windows Vista can be used is a precondition. o CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (at least 1.06GHz recommended) o Memory: at least 512MB o Free Hard Drive Space: at least 50MB Browser Requirements o Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0 Microsoft Office Application Requirements Microsoft Office applications are required to be installed on your PC to use document sharing tool. 7 Before Installation o Microsoft PowerPoint 2000/XP/2003/2007 o Microsoft Word 2000/XP/2003/2007 o Microsoft Excel 2000/XP/2003/2007 Other Hardware Requirements o Audio (Full Duplex) Mandatory o Microphone and Speakers o USB camera or capture card and camera 1.3 Important Environmental Settings Internet Explorer Security Settings Without the correct Internet Explorer settings you will not be able to login to the Visual Nexus Meeting Server. The following steps describe how to configure Internet Explorer: 1 Start IE (Internet Explorer), and select [Tools] [Internet Options] from the menu. 2 Select the [Security] tab, select the [Trusted Sites] icon, and click the [Sites] button. 8 Before Installation 3 In the box under Add this Web site to the zone, input Server Address]:8080. Remove the check from the checkbox that says Require server verification (https :) for all sites in this zone, and click the [Add] button. For example, input: 4 Confirm that the Web site you input has been added, and click the [OK] button. 5 Close IE. When connecting over a LAN, and the above settings have not been made, Visual Nexus will cause an error (Error_104 XML/HTTP-Request Transfer Error (104)), and you will not be able to login to Visual Nexus service. When opening the Trusted Sites dialog again after completing these settings, the Web site you originally entered will be shown as and the :8080 field will no longer be displayed. 9 2 Visual Nexus Setup 2.1 Visual Nexus Client Setup Pre-Installation Preparation Perform the installation taking care to note the following warnings: Make sure that your camera, microphone and speakers are all operational before installation. Make sure to login to Windows as a user with administrator rights before you begin installation Downloading and Installing Visual Nexus Client Software from VNOnline Browse to your Meeting Server s web portal, VNOnline, using the URL provided by your Visual Nexus administrator. For example, launch your Web browser, and navigate to the following URL to display Visual Nexus Online: URL: Server Address]:8080 VN-M Copyright Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd of 26
10 1 Navigate to the Download Center from Visual Nexus Online and click the Visual Nexus Endpoint program file icon as highlighted below. The download confirmation dialog will be displayed. 2 Click the [Run] or [Save] button. The [Run] option will download the software and then automatically begin the installation. The [Save] button will require you to save the install file to a specified folder and then you must manually start the installation by running the file you have just downloaded. 11 3 After running the install program, you will be prompted to select the language you wish to use for the setup, Japanese and English is supported. Click the [OK] button once you have made your choice. After selecting the setup language, the Visual Nexus installer will start as shown below. 4 Click the [Next] button to continue or [Cancel] to abort the installation. The Software User License Agreement will be displayed. VN-M Copyright Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd of 26
12 5 Scroll through and read the License Agreement. Select the [I accept the terms in the license agreement] option and click the [Next] button. The default program folder location for the installation will be displayed. 6 Click the [Next] button to accept the default location Use [Change] to alter the location of the installation folder. The Client Software Selection screen will be displayed. 7 Select the Client software component(s) you want to install: Regular users will select Visual Nexus Endpoint and Secure Transport. Choose Visual Nexus Secure Transport Personal Client if you intend to use a 3 rd party software endpoint behind a Firewall/NAT. Administrators may choose Secure Transport Group Client when providing FW/NAT traversal for multiple endpoints or hardware systems. Click [Next] button to continue. 13 The Update Server Address selection screen will be displayed. 8 Specify the Visual Nexus Update Server address (Your Administrator will provide this if the Update Service is being used). You can leave this information blank and configure the Visual Nexus Update Server address later. Click [Next] button to continue. The Ready to Install screen will be displayed. 14 9 Click the [Install] button. Installation will now begin. When the installation has been completed, the installation completion screen will be displayed. VN-M Copyright Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd of 26
15 10 Check the [Launch the program] checkbox, and click the [Finish] button. The Visual Nexus Meeting Manager will start. This concludes the installation process. Next, provide the initial settings after the Meeting Manager starts. If you finished the installation without checking the [Launch the program] checkbox, double-click the Meeting Manager icon on your desktop to start Meeting Manager Meeting Manager Initial Settings The first time the Meeting Manager is launched after installation, it will perform an audio and video setup and video Benchmark tests. Click the [OK] button, and start the benchmark program. VN-M Copyright Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd of 26
16 1 When benchmarking is finished, click the [OK] button. The panel for changing Endpoint settings will be displayed. 2 Click button to run the audio calibration. You do not need to check the [Use Visual Nexus Echo Cancellation] checkbox if you are using a headset or echo cancel enabled speaker such as a conference speaker. The audio input test will start first. 3 Microphone setup. Speak into the microphone in a normal voice. First, please select your microphone device from the pop-up menu, then click [Start tuning] button to run microphone adjustment test. VN-M Copyright Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd of 26
17 Please speak to your microphone constantly and adjust the microphone level slider until the microphone volume level to reach level 1 to 2. Suitable level Click [Next] to continue the Audio Configuration Wizard. 4 Speaker setup. Adjust your speaker volume level. Please select your speaker device from the pop-up menu, then click [Start tuning] button to run speaker adjustment test. VN-M Copyright Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd of 26
18 Please adjust the speaker level properly with the volume slider. Click [Finish] to finish the Audio Configuration Wizard. 5 After audio settings have been completed, click the [Camera] option. If you see a live video image, click [OK] button. VN-M Copyright Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd of 26
19 If you do not see your own image, select the video capture card you are using from the drop-down list, and click [Reinitialize]. Click the [Advanced] tab to make color balance and other camera adjustments. 6 Click the [OK] button when the dialog below is displayed. Meeting Manager installation is complete. 7 Meeting Manager will display Meeting Manager Profile information. You can create your Meeting Manager Profile now or you can finish the installation by selecting [Close]. See section Meeting Manager Login Settings to create the Meeting Manager Profile. 20 2.1.4 Meeting Manager Login Settings 1 Right-click over the [Profile] icon, and select [Add]. 2 Input Profile Name and your account details, i.e. Login Name and Password, and the Meeting Server address or name, then click the [Save] button. When the port number etc. used by the Administrator's instruction are changed, it sets it in [Details]. In that case, please refer to the next paragraph ' The use of the [Details] setting (server setting)'. It doesn't usually use. VN-M Copyright Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd of 26
21 Checking the [Default] checkbox will let you automatically login to the Meeting Manager using the set profile information. You can specify the network bandwidth you can use on your Meeting Manager from the [Bandwidth] setting. The Meeting Manager will limit your upstream network bandwidth to this value. The bandwidth specified here is a bandwidth used only by the Video and the Audio. The bandwidth used by the Application Sharing is not included in the bandwidth of this setting. 3 Shut down Meeting Manager from Meeting Manager/Program/Exit menu to save the terminal settings, and double-click the Meeting Manager icon on your desktop to restart Meeting Manager. You have now finished the Meeting Manager profile settings. When proxy server settings prevent you from logging in you should adjust the security setting in Internet Explorer. From the Internet Explorer menu, select Tools Internet Options Connection tab, and in LAN Settings, either turn off the proxy server settings, or add an entry in Exceptions under Advanced so Meeting Server HTTP requests do not go out via a proxy server. If an Error_104 XML/ HTTP-Request Transfer Error (104) occurs when logging in to the Visual Nexus Meeting Manager, please check the next. 1. Refer to Security Configuration to check whether your settings are correct. 2. Refer to whether the server name set up in the profile is correct. 3. If you mistook server name set up in the profile and saved, select the [edit], and please reinput each address correctly The use of the [Details] setting (server setting) This setting need not be done at usual use. When the server address of each function in the connection destination is specified responding to the environment used, and the use port is changed, the change in the setting is needed. Please set it according to the instruction from the Administrator when there is a necessity respectively. 1. It right-clicks in the profile, select the [edit], and the Profile Information is opened. 2. Select the [Details] of profile information, and a [Server setting] tab is opened. 22 The port number is an empty column though the address of the meeting server specified by profile information is set to the server address. 3. If necessary, server address and the port number of various servers are changed. (Please follow the manager's instruction about the input item. ) 4. Click the [Set] button, and input the "Confirm Password", and click the [save]. VN-M Copyright Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd of 26
23 2.2 Secure Transport Personal Client Setup Follow the procedures described here ONLY if you wish to install the Personal Client with use with a 3 rd party endpoint. When using the Visual Nexus Endpoint software, the Personal Client is installed automatically Installing Personal Client Components The procedures for installing Personal Client components are almost identitical to those for installing Visual Nexus. 1 Follow all of the Steps 1 through 7 detailed in Section Choose [Visual Nexus Secure Transport Personal Client] at Step 8, and then click the [Next] button. 3 Continue with Steps 9 through 11 as described in section If you complete the procedures, the Secure Transport Personal Client will launch automatically. If you do not check the [Start Program] checkbox, launch Secure Transport Personal Client by choosing [All Programs] [Visual Nexus] [Secure Transport] from the Windows Start menu. 24 2.2.2 Personal Client Initial Settings When installation has completed, provide the settings for the server address and account information. 1 Designate the [Secure Transport Server] server address, input the Login Name/ Password for the [Account], and click the [Connect] button. 2 Right-click on the Personal Client icon located in the system tray at the lower right of the screen, and select [Open]. 25 3 Check the status screen. If the status screen indicates Connection to Visual Nexus Secure Transport Server has been established, then you have been successfully connected to the Secure Transport Server. If there is a problem with your connection, please contact to your system administrator. VN-M Copyright Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd of 26
26 Uninstall Visual Nexus 3 Uninstall Visual Nexus components 3.1 Uninstall Visual Nexus Visual Nexus Endpoint and Secure Transport Personal Client use the same uninstallation method. 1 Select [Control Panel] - [Add or Remove Programs] from the Windows Start menu. 2 Select [Visual Nexus Endpoint] from Change or Remove Programs, and click the [Remove] button. The program removal confirmation screen will be displayed. 3 Click [Yes]. The program will be removed. The dialog will disappear once the program has been removed. The uninstallation is now complete.
