1 CONFIGURATION & ORCHESTRATION MANAGER VERSION Release Summary Release Date: 29-April-2011 Purpse: The Cnfiguratin & Orchestratin Manager Release Ntes prvide the fllwing infrmatin: Bug Fixes Supprted perating systems Installing COM Knwn issues 2. Imprtant Ntes Befre Installing this Release The COM release can be installed as an update t a previus COM release install r as a full install n a machine where COM has nt been previusly installed. When installing n a machine n which COM is nt previusly installed, ensure that the Pre Install Script has been run and it des nt return any errrs. The Pre Install Script des nt currently prvide a cmprehensive check fr requirements but prvides a check fr the mst cmmnly seen issues. This script is available alng with the sftware lad and the instructins t run it are available in the README.TXT file inside the zip file. When installing n a machine where COM has already been previusly installed, skip the steps t run the Pre Install Script and just execute the installer. The installer will detect the existing install and will uninstall it (the uninstall will start after prviding the passwrd n the UCM Passwrd page) and will install COM COM nw supprts c-residency and distributed install with VPFM 2.2.x release. General Instructins: The Linux bin file needs t have apprpriate permissins befre installing. Use chmd 777 <filename> cmmand befre executing the Linux installer. Pst Install Steps: In a distributed UCM envirnment install, if COM is installed as a Member server, the Nrtel UCM JBss service need t be restarted fr Primary, Backup (if any) and Member servers in that rder. Always allw the service n first server t cme up befre starting the service n the next server. If there are errrs, please reslve them befre installing COM Obtain the trial license fr the server where yu want t install COM Check that the COM installers have permissins t be executed (Linux file may need t be mdified using chmd 777 filename cmmand). Execute the installer. On recmmended hardware, install time will be between minutes. On slwer systems, install may take up t 30 minutes. Please refer t the Install Guide fr mre details. 7. Wrkarund fr script running slwly brwser issue COM uses java script technlgy which executes scripts n the client brwser. Hwever, fr large cnfiguratins, the script may take lnger t execute and may be seen by the brwser as a lp that may need t be terminated by the user. This issue is mre prnunced in IE. If such an issue is encuntered, yu will see pp-ups asking whether yu want t terminate the script. Yu can select N (In IE) and Cntinue (in FF) t ignre this pp-up r yu may permanently change the time after which the pp-up is seen (r disable it cmpletely). T change yur brwser settings, use the fllwing instructins: Fr Firefx: Type abut:cnfig in the address bar and filter fr the string dm.max_script_run_time. The default setting is 20 (secnds), add sme mre time, raise it t 40 fr instance. Fr Internet Explrer: 2011 Avaya Inc Rev: 1.0 (26 th April 2011) Page 4 f 6

5 Using a Registry Editr such as Regedt32.exe, pen this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Sftware\Micrsft\Internet Explrer\Styles Nte If the Styles key is nt present; create a new key that is called Styles. Create a new DWORD value called "MaxScriptStatements" under this key and set the value t the desired number f script statements. If yu are unsure f what value yu need t set this t, yu can set it t a DWORD value f 0xFFFFFFFF t cmpletely avid the dialg. By default the key desn't exist. If the key has nt been added, the default threshld limit fr the time-ut dialg bx is 5,000,000 statements fr Internet Explrer 4 and later. Mre infrmatin is available at 8. Deplyment Recmmendatins T circumvent sme f the knwn issues, the fllwing recmmendatins shuld be adhered t: The new Save Tplgy acrss Discvery ptin wrks well fr fairly static netwrks. If yur netwrk changes a lt r yu use COM in lab setups, it is recmmended t disable this ptin in the Discvery preferences. After applying a new license t COM (fr example: nde cunt upgrade license), the user needs t lg ut and lg back in fr the license t take effect fr that sessin. In the distributed UCM setup, the fllwing precautins need t be taken: If the primary server requires a rebt, stp Nrtel UCM JBss service n all member and backup servers. Rebt primary and wait fr Nrtel UCM JBss service t cme up cmpletely. Next, restart Nrtel UCM JBss service n backup server and als wait fr it t cme up. Then restart the same service n member servers. If a member r backup server requires a rebt r any JBss needs t be restarted, first rebt the member r backup server (if desired). Stp Nrtel UCM JBss service n all servers and then start them in the fllwing rder: Primary, Backup and Member. If COM is a member in the UCM slutin, the COM sessin will timeut in 2 hurs. If the timeut ccurs, the COM managers will shw an errr message abut nt being able t get credentials. T reslve this issue, please lgut and lg back in. When running COM and VPFM n the same server, the trap and syslg prts will cnflict. This can be reslved by changing the prts fr VPFM under the Tls - Trap & Syslg Brwser sectin. G t the Traps/Syslgs tabs, click n settings buttn and change the listener prt. Fr COM, this can be changed in the Preferences - General tab in the Admin panel. Alternatively, we recmmend that VPFM be used as the trap/syslg receiver and these traps/syslgs be frwarded t COM. The frwarding in VPFM can be setup in the same sectin where the listener prts are changed. 9. Knwn Issues In COM 2.2.1, these are the knwn issues: The Cnfig Audit Tl des nt perate crrectly when COM is a member r backup in the distributed UCM setup. Trap/Syslg Viewers: The print functinality n Trap/Syslg viewers desn t wrk if ppups are enabled. It is recmmended t always have ppups disabled befre trying t print. If COM is installed as a member r backup t primary VPFM install, the nde cunt fr COM s installed licenses will nt be displayed crrectly.
