Sync Mde allws Micrsft SharePint administratrs t replicate cntent, cnfiguratins, and securities f SharePint bjects, including Office 365 grup team sites. Publishing Mde publishes SharePint cntent, including Office 365 grup team sites, based n cnfigurable business lgic. Replicatin can be live (event-triggered) r n a set schedule s that cntent, cnfiguratins, and securities can be synchrnized between sites and bjects. Live replicatin triggers are fully custmizable, and replicatin can be executed fully r incrementally. Incremental replicatin can be at the file r byte levels. T ensure that DcAve is hardware agnstic, AvePint tests hardware that is intended t supprt SharePint and DcAve infrastructure, strage targets, and hardware-based backup and recvery slutins, as supprted by AvePint s partnerships. 10 Backup and Recvery DcAve supprts BLOB backup strage accrding t the list f hardware platfrms abve. BLOB snapsht functin, hwever, is currently nly supprted n OEM versins and NetApp hardware. DcAve supprts SQL cntent and Applicatin database backups via the SharePint Vlume Shadw Cpy Service (VSS) n all Windws and SQL server platfrms listed abve. DcAve als supprts snapsht-based SharePint VSS n all hardware listed abve where the hardware partner has certified supprt with Micrsft. DcAve supprts applicatin and cnfiguratin server backups fr all the supprted sftware envirnments listed abve. DcAve 6 SP5 r later supprts VM backup via Hyper-V/VMWare fr the fllwing perating systems: Windws Server 2008 R2, Windws Server 2012, Windws Server 2012 R2, and Micrsft Hyper V Server 2012 R2. Cnfiguratin In rder t use DcAve Replicatr, the DcAve 6 platfrm must be installed and cnfigured prperly n yur farm. Replicatr will nt functin withut DcAve 6 present n the farm. Agents DcAve Agents are respnsible fr running DcAve jbs and interacting with the SharePint bject mdel. A DcAve Agent must be installed n at least ne f the Web frnt-end servers. *Nte: T use real-time replicatin, DcAve Agents must be installed n all f the Web frntend servers. DcAve Agents enable DcAve Manager t cmmunicate with the respective servers, allwing fr Replicatr cmmands t functin prperly. *Nte: The use f system resurces n a server increases when the installed Agent is perfrming actins. This may affect server perfrmance. Hwever, if the Agent installed n a server is nt being used, the use f system resurces is very lw and, therefre, the effect n server perfrmance is negligible. The Add and Custmize Pages permissin* *Nte: T replicate Office 365 bjects, the Add and Custmize Pages permissin is required. Users with the rle f SharePint Administratr r Site Cllectin Administratr have the Add and Custmize Pages permissin, but yu must select Allw users t run custm script n persnal sites and Allw users t run custm script n self-service created sites in SharePint admin center > settings > Custm Script t enable the permissin t these users. Nte that the changes will take effect 24 hurs after being set. Health Analyzer AvePint recmmends using Health Analyzer t check the prerequisites yu need t crrectly use DcAve Replicatr. *Nte: Only the users in the DcAve Administratrs grup can use Health Analyzer. 17 Getting Started SharePint and the DcAve platfrm mdules have cmmn functinality. While sme f this shared functinality is cvered in this guide, the primary fcus f this dcument is the functinality that is specific t the DcAve mdule. Fr infrmatin n the shared functinality nt cvered in this dcument, refer t SharePint Help. Refer t the sectins belw fr imprtant infrmatin n getting started with Replicatr. Launching Replicatr T launch Replicatr and access its functinality, fllw the instructins belw. 1. Lg in t DcAve. If yu are already in the sftware, click the DcAve tab. The DcAve tab displays all prduct suites n the left side f the windw. 2. Click Administratin t view the Administratin mdules. 3. Click Replicatr t launch this mdule. 18 User Interface Overview After clicking Replicatr, the Replicatr user interface launches with the Sync Mde tab active. Figure 2: Replicatr Sync Mde user interface. DcAve 6 Replicatr 17

19 Click the Publishing Mde tab t access Publishing Mde. Figure 3: Replicatr Publishing Mde user interface. 1. The ribbn shws the available actins fr Replicatr. 2. The wrkspace shws explanatins and the cntent that is used during the cnfiguratin f actins perfrmed in DcAve prducts. Navigating DcAve DcAve mimics the lk and feel f many Windws prducts, making fr an intuitive and familiar wrking envirnment. While there are many windws, pp-up displays, and messages within DcAve prducts, they share similar features and are navigated in the same ways. Belw is a sample windw in DcAve. It features a familiar, dynamic ribbn, and a searchable, cntent list view. DcAve 6 Replicatr 18

Manage clumns ( ) Allws users t manage which clumns are displayed in the list. Click the manage clumns ( ) buttn, and then select the checkbxes next t the clumn names in the drp-dwn list. Hide the clumn ( ) Allws users t hide the selected clumn. Filter the clumn ( filter the clumn ( clumn name. ) Allws users t filter the infrmatin in the List View. Click the ) buttn next t the clumn and then select the checkbx next t the Search Allws users t search the List View pane fr a keywrd r phrase. 21 Pre-Replicatin Jb Cnfiguratins The fllwing sectins detail the cnfiguratins needed prir t setting up a replicatin jb. While yu can run a replicatin jb withut cnfiguring the ptinal settings belw, AvePint strngly recmmends that yu cnfigure these settings t ensure efficient cntent management during replicatin. Cnfiguring the Replicatr Database (mandatry) Cnfiguring Mapping Settings (ptinal) Cnfiguring Netwrk Cntrl (ptinal) Cnfiguring Byte-Level Settings (Byte-Level Replicatin Only) (ptinal) Cnfiguring Path Settings (nly necessary if enabling Differential Data Cmpressin) Outging Server Settings (ptinal) Enabling One-Way Pull (ptinal) Cnfiguring Devices and Setting Up Strage Plicies (nly necessary if backing up envirnment befre replicatin) Cnfiguring the Replicatr Database In rder t use Replicatr, yu must cnfigure a dedicated Replicatr database in SQL fr every farm that will be using Replicatr. A Replicatr database stres the jb data fr each farm. After cnfiguring the Replicatr database fr a farm, this farm will be available in Replicatr and can act as either the surce r destinatin. 1. On the Sync Mde r Publishing Mde tab, click Replicatr Database in the Settings grup. 2. Select a farm r My Registered Sites and click Cnfigure in the Manage grup n the ribbn, r click the select ( ) buttn t select Cnfigure in the Farm clumn. The Cnfigure Replicatr Database windw appears. 3. Cnfigure the fllwing settings fr the database that will stre replicatin jb data: a. Agent Grup Select the default Agent Grup, a custmized Agent Grup frm the drp-dwn list, r click New Agent Grup t create a new ne. Fr details n Agent Grups, refer t the DcAve 6 Cntrl Panel Reference Guide. b. Cnfigure Replicatr Database Replicatr supplies a default Database Server and Database Name. If desired, enter a new database server and database name in the crrespnding fields. If the database des nt exist, DcAve creates a DcAve 6 Replicatr 20

22 database using the entered name; hwever, AvePint recmmends that yu use the default database fr mst instances. c. Authenticatin Select the authenticatin mde fr the Replicatr database. If yu select SQL Authenticatin, yu must als prvide the necessary infrmatin in the Accunt and Passwrd fields. Validate the SQL database accunt by clicking Validatin Test. Optinally, yu can set a Failver database server. In the event that the Replicatr database cllapses, yu can transfer the data stred in the Replicatr database t this standby database. d. Select the Edit cnnectin string directly checkbx t activate this feature, and then enter the cnnectin string accrding t the examples listed in the left pane. Cnfiguring Mapping Settings Befre perfrming a replicatin jb, yu can ptinally define the Dmain Mapping, User Mapping, Language Mapping, and Clumn Mapping settings. Fr specific instructins n setting up language mapping, refer t the DcAve 6 Cntrl Panel Reference Guide. By default, the default language mapping is disabled. If the language in the destinatin envirnment is the same as the language in the surce envirnment, AvePint replicates the surce data t the destinatin using the surce language. If the language in the destinatin envirnment, hwever, is different frm the language in the surce envirnment, yu must enable the default language mapping t successfully replicate the surce data t the destinatin. T enable the default language mapping, fllw the steps belw: 1. Navigate t \AvePint\DcAve6\Agent\data\SP2010\Replicatr. 2. Open the SP2010Replicatr.xml cnfiguratin file with Ntepad. 3. Find the element SupprtDefaultLanguageMapping="False" and mdify the value t True. The surce data will nw be replicated t the destinatin using the destinatin language. If the destinatin nde is a manually entered nde and the destinatin envirnment has a language package (meaning the system language and the SharePint language are different), disabling the default language mapping will result in the surce data being replicated t the destinatin using the surce language. If the default language mapping is enabled, the surce data is replicated t the destinatin using the language f the data string that is firstly retrieved by the destinatin DcAve Agent. 24 Clumn Mapping Use clumn mapping t map surce clumns t destinatin clumns. The destinatin clumn name will be replaced with the cnfigured surce clumn name, and yu can als add value mappings t map the clumn values. Accrding t clumn type, the surce clumn and the destinatin clumn can be the same r different. The clumn type can be changed t Managed Metadata r Lkup. *Nte: Clumn Mapping is nly supprted fr ne way replicatin jbs. T access Clumn Mapping, click the Sync Mde tab > Prfile Settings in the Prfile Manager grup > Mappings in the Settings grup > Clumn Mapping. The Cntrl Panel appears. Cnfiguring Netwrk Cntrl Cnfigure the Netwrk Cntrl feature t ptimize yur replicatin jb by making full use f netwrk resurces during the replicatin. Fr example, replicating a massive amunt f data may affect netwrk perfrmance. In this case, use Netwrk Cntrl t set the starting time f the replicatin jb fr after r befre wrking hurs. If a large replicatin jb must be perfrmed during wrking hurs, set up a bandwidth limit fr the jb t minimize the impact n the netwrk. Additinally, yu can set up a cnnectin retry fr the replicatin jb in the event that the jb fails due t a netwrk utage. T cnfigure netwrk cntrl, cmplete the fllwing steps: 1. Chse ne f the fllwing methds t access the Netwrk Cntrl windw. On the Sync Mde tab, in the Prfile Manager grup, click Prfile Settings. The Prfile Settings tab appears. In the Settings grup, click Netwrk Cntrl. On the Publishing Mde tab, click Netwrk Cntrl n the ribbn. 2. In the Manage grup, click Create. Cnfigure the fllwing settings fr the netwrk cntrl: a. Prfile Name Enter a name fr the prfile, and enter an ptinal descriptin. b. Run During Enter the jb s data transfer rate during wrking hurs and nnwrking hurs, and select crrespnding unit (KB/Secnd r MB/Secnd). AvePint recmmends that yu use a lwer speed during wrking hurs and a higher speed during nn-wrking hurs. c. Define Wrk Schedule Define the wrking hurs by selecting the daily wrking hurs and the wrking days. DcAve 6 Replicatr 23

25 d. Cnnectin Retry Enter a number fr Retry delay, and select the unit, Minute(s) r Hur(s). Then, enter the number f retry attempts. *Nte: If a netwrk cntrl prfile is applied, the surce DcAve Agent autmatically tries t recnnect t the destinatin DcAve Agent fr thirty minutes. After thirty minutes, the surce DcAve Agent tries t recnnect t the destinatin DcAve Agent accrding t the retry delay and the number f retries. If the number f retries has been exceeded but the surce DcAve Agent still cannt cnnect t the destinatin DcAve Agent, the surce DcAve Agent stps recnnecting and the replicatin jb will fail. *Nte: If yu d nt chse t use a netwrk cntrl prfile, the surce DcAve Agent autmatically tries t recnnect t the destinatin DcAve Agent fr thirty minutes. If the surce DcAve Agent still cannt cnnect t the destinatin DcAve Agent after thirty minutes, the replicatin jb will fail. 3. Click Save t save the settings. The prfile is listed in the Netwrk Cntrl page. On this page yu can select a specific prfile, and click Edit t mdify the cnfiguratins r click Delete t remve the prfile. Cnfiguring Byte-Level Settings (Byte-Level Replicatin Only) If yu are Perfrming a Byte-level Replicatin, AvePint recmmends that yu cnfigure bytelevel settings fr each farm. These settings define snapsht retentin time, data size limits, and the lcatin in which t stre the riginal and cnstructed data fr Byte-level replicatin. 1. On the Sync Mde tab, in the Prfile Manager grup, click Prfile Settings. The Prfile Settings tab appears. In the Settings grup, click Byte-level Settings. The Bytelevel Settings windw appears. 2. All farms cnfigured fr Replicatr are listed. Select the farm r My Registered Sites t which yu want t apply this feature, and click Cnfigure in the Manage grup. The Cnfigure Byte-level Settings page appears. Cnfigure the fllwing settings: a. Cnfigure Snapsht Settings Set a retentin time perid during which the snapsht will be stred and enter the Data size limit. When the entered retentin time expires, the snapsht is autmatically deleted. Cnfiguring Path Settings Use Path Settings t cnfigure differential data cmpressin path fr each farm that yu are abut t enable the Differential Data Cmpressin feature. Differential data cmpressin can generate and cmpress differential data (differences between the current backup data and the data in cache flder). This will reduce the size f real-time and publishing mde replicatin data. T cnfigure Path Settings, cmplete the fllwing steps: 1. Chse ne f the fllwing methds t access the Path Settings windw. On the Sync Mde tab, in the Prfile Manager grup, click Prfile Settings. The Prfile Settings tab appears. In the Settings grup, click Path Settings. On the Publishing Mde tab, click Path Settings n the ribbn. 2. Select the farm fr which yu want t cnfigure the differential data cmpressin path, and click Cnfigure in the Manage grup. A lw cmpressin level results in a faster cmpressin rate but a larger data set, while a high cmpressin level results in a slwer cmpressin rate but a smaller data set. Nte that small data sets cause slwer jb executin times. b. Differential Data Cmpressin Chse t Enable differential data cmpressin t accelerate yur real-time replicatin jb. Differential data cmpressin can generate and cmpress differential data (differences between the current backup data and the data in the cache flder). Fr detailed instructins, refer t Cnfiguring Byte-Level Settings (Byte-Level Replicatin Only). d. Backup Envirnment Befre Replicatin Select this ptin t back up the envirnment befre the replicatin. Select a strage plicy frm the drp-dwn list fr the backup jb, r click New Strage Plicy t create a new ne. Fr details regarding strage plicy, refer t the DcAve 6 Cntrl Panel Reference Guide. Backing up befre replicatin enables yu t revert the destinatin envirnment back t the riginal envirnment (the envirnment befre the replicatin). *Nte: Fr tw way replicatin jbs, the surce envirnment and the destinatin envirnment are bth backed up. When reverting the envirnment, yu can chse t revert the surce envirnment r the destinatin envirnment. e. Cncurrent Threads Chse the number f threads t run in the same mapping at a time. This number shuld be a reasnable ne based upn yur cmputer system cnfiguratin. If the number yu select is t high, this may be a drain n system resurces. The default and recmmended number is 2. When yu have finished cnfiguring the prfile, chse ne f the fllwing ptins: Replicatin Optins Click Save t save the prfile. Click Save As and enter a prfile name t save it as anther prfile. Select Save and replace the existing prfile t replace the riginal prfile. Otherwise, it is saved withut remving the riginal prfile. Click Discard Changes t clear all mdificatins that were made t the current prfile. Replicatin Optins allw yu t cnfigure which security settings (frm site cllectin level dwn t item level), cnfiguratin settings (frm site cllectin level dwn t list level), and cntent can be replicated. Set up a sub-prfile fr Replicatin Optins by the fllwing steps. 1. On the Sync Mde tab, click Prfile Settings in the Prfile Manager grup. The Prfile Settings tab appears. 2. Receive security changes frm data destinatin (in tw-way replicatin) The security changes in the destinatin are merged with the surce in rder t maintain the cnsistency f security in the surce and destinatin. This ptin nly supprts tw-way replicatin. Enable sync deletins fr users and grups Synchrnusly deletes users and grups n ne side based n the deletins made n the ther side. In ne way replicatin, this ptin deletes users and grups n the destinatin based n the deletins made n the surce. In tw way replicatin, if yu als select Receive security changes frm destinatin (in tw-way replicatin), this feature deletes users and grups n ne side based n the deletins made n the ther side. If yu d nt select Receive security changes frm destinatin (in tw-way replicatin), the deletins n destinatin cannt be synchrnized t the surce. Include users and grups withut permissins Chse whether r nt t replicate users and grups that have n permissins frm the surce t the destinatin. Enable sync deletins fr permissins and permissin levels If yu run an incremental replicatin jb with this ptin selected, the deletins fr permissins and permissin levels will als be synchrnized frm the surce t the destinatin. 33 8. Click the Cnfiguratin tab. Chse whether t replicate cnfiguratin. If yu want t replicate the surce cnfiguratin t the destinatin, select the Replicate cnfiguratin checkbx, and then select the cnfiguratins yu want t replicate. Site Cllectin Level Site cllectin features and prperties, Site cllectin search scpes and search keywrds. Site Level Site features and prperties, Site clumn and cntent type, Navigatin and quick launch, Site template and list template, Web parts, page layut, master pages and ther hidden lists. *Nte: If yu want t keep the dependency between a Web part and its dependent library/list after the replicatin jb, ensure that the Web part and the library/list are in a same mapping. If a Web part and the dependent library/list are in the same library r list, perfrm at least a list level replicatin jb. Otherwise, perfrm at least a site level replicatin jb. If a Site clumn and cntent type with the same name and the same type as the surce already exists in destinatin, Replicatr verwrites the clumn in the destinatin. Hidden lists are lists that cannt be viewed in the All Site Cntent page (such as the lists used t save the site template and list template, Web parts, page layut, master pages, and the lists that are hidden by the users). *Nte: By default, the reginal settings f the surce SharePint site are nt replicated t the destinatin. T replicate the reginal settings, navigate t \AvePint\DcAve6\Agent\data\SP2010\Replicatr. Open the SP2010Replicatr.xml cnfiguratin file with Ntepad. Then, find the element ReplicateWebReginalSetting="False" and mdify the value t True. *Nte: Replicatr can nly activate the features in destinatin site cllectin. If ne feature is active in the surce and inactive in the destinatin, after the replicatin jb, this feature in destinatin is activated. But if ne feature is inactive in the surce and active in the destinatin, after the replicatin jb, this feature is still active in the destinatin. *Nte: Make sure that at least ne feature exists bth in the surce and in the destinatin. If ne feature nly exists in the surce, Replicatr des nt install this feature. It is necessary t manually install the feature n the destinatin befre running the replicatin jb r use DcAve Deplyment Manager t deply the surce structure t destinatin directly. If there is a destinatin persnal view with the same name as the surce fr ne user, Replicatr merges the view settings frm the surce t the destinatin. If there is a destinatin public view with the same URL as the surce, the destinatin riginal public view is verwritten by the surce public view. Receive cnfiguratin changes frm data destinatin (in tw-way replicatin) The cnfiguratin changes in the destinatin are merged t the surce in rder t maintain the cnsistency f cnfiguratin settings in the surce and destinatin. Deal with the item-dependent clumn and cntent types (This is available when the List settings is deselected in List Level.) 54 Perfrming a Byte-level Replicatin In cases where there is nly a small change t the cntent (fr example, when nly the title f a file is changed), byte-level replicatin can be leveraged t transfer nly the change t the file instead f transferring the entire file. Byte-level replicatin is ptimal fr limited/pr cnnectin scenaris, pseud real-time synchrnizatin, and large file sizes. By minimizing the amunt f data transferred, Byte-level replicatin reduces the impact n bandwidth and infrastructure while ensuring cntent stays synched. *Nte: Byte-level replicatin can nly be applied between tw farms, bth f which must have byte-level settings cnfigured. In additin, the specified paths must be different in rder t ensure the prper functin f byte-level replicatin. The Byte-level settings fr the surce farm are used during the replicatin. T replicate specific bjects, chse yur desired bjects by selecting the crrespnding checkbxes and then click Retry n the ribbn. The selected bjects will be replicated t the destinatin. Viewing Detailed Recrds T view details f a specific recrd, select yur desired recrd, and click View Details n the ribbn, r right-click the recrd name and select View Details. In the View Details windw, yu can review basic infrmatin and advanced infrmatin abut the selected recrd. Exprting Query Recrds When yu finish querying yur recrds, yu can exprt the query results. Click Exprt Query Result in the Query Actin area n the ribbn. In the Exprt Query Result windw, select the reprt frmat as XLS, CSV, r TXT, and then click Exprt t exprt the query results. Cnfiguring Reprt Settings Reprt Settings allw yu t chse a lcatin t stre replicatin jb reprts and set the maximum time t retain the reprts.
