180 Series Keypad Overview The , & keypads provide simple yet flexible access control of a single door. The out of the box default settings make installation and operation simple. For more complex requirements, the unit has a set of programming functions that make the keypad highly configurable. The keypad is more advanced and has a real time clock, memory to log transactions and a RS-232 serial port for connection to a computer. The has the same features as the but allows up to 64 units to be connected to a computer via RS-485. Programming and logging of activities can be done with the Keypad software (Windows based). Power-up On power-up the Green LED will flash fast for a few seconds while the keypad is initialised. On completion the Yellow will give a short flash every 1 to 2 seconds indicating the unit is in and ready for a user to enter their PIN code. (Access Control) Every user has a PIN which is stored at a memory address. The unit operates in either Normal PIN or Address PIN mode depending on the setting of the PIN Address Mode in the configuration ( see page 14 for details) and this determines how a user enters their PIN to gain access. Normal PIN Mode - Address Mode Off (default) In this mode the user enters the PIN code (default 4 digits) and the keypad searches for the first occurrence of that PIN number and applies the access parameters associated with that PIN. The settings of the same PIN code stored at a higher address will never be used. Address PIN Mode - Address Mode On In this mode the user must enter their address and their PIN code. The keypad goes directly to the address and uses the access parameters at that address. The entry format is: ADDRESS # PIN If the address is 009 and the PIN is 7834 the entry would be: 9#7834 Although more keystrokes are required, this mode has the advantage that users can program their own PIN codes. Operation If a valid PIN is entered and access allowed, the Green LED will light and the outputs will operated as determined by the parameters for that PIN. If access is denied, the Red LED will light. (See page 22 for more information). 180-Series Keypad Handbook rev 2.1 page 2 of 23

Default factory settings: The default settings have been chosen to meet most small installation requirements. The only setting that must be changed is the Master PIN Feature Master PIN: PIN Capacity: PIN Length: Relay holdoff Time: Relay Output 1 Output 2 ComboKey Input 1 Input 2 Lockout Lockout Time Lockout code Lockout indication PIN Address Mode ID ( Only) Default Value sec Switch (5 sec) Alarm (3 sec) CCTV (10 sec) Output-1 (3 sec) Exit Pushbutton Door Sense 3 Attempts 30 sec Output-1 Off Off 1 Program Code 401# 411# 413# 414# 421# 422# 423# 431# 432# 433# 441# 442# 443# 444# 451# 460# The PIN length must be decided before adding PINs - changing the PIN Length will corrupt the PIN codes. Entering and Exiting Command Mode (Programming) All command functions (programming) require that the keypad is in Command Mode. Enter Command Mode Hold down the * key and at the same time enter the Master PIN code and then release the * key. 6 Commands - Add PIN The add PIN command is the most complex of all the commands because of the number of options that are available. Do not attempt complex programming of PINs without carefully studying this section and the section on Outputs. The Simple Add PIN method described below can be used for most applications. Simple Add PIN This method assumes that the unit is used with the factory default settings, all PINs will have the same settings and a valid PIN will operate the relay. Each entry will require an address and an associated PIN code. All entries should be recorded and an example recording sheet is included at the back of this document. The address must be in the range (see page 3) 11 # (Add PIN command) + Green Flash Enter address # - e.g. 23# + Double Green Flash Enter PIN # - e.g. 2835# + Green Flash Enter next PIN address # - e.g. 24# + Double Green Flash Enter PIN # - e.g. 9235# Repeat as many times as required + Green Flash Press # - terminates Add PIN command Once all the PINs are programmed, the unit is ready for operation in Normal PIN Mode - Address Mode Off as explained on page 142 Normal PIN Mode (default) (mode explanation on page 2) In the Normal PIN Mode of operation all the PINs have to be added by the system operator. PINs are not secret as they are recorded by the operator. All entries should be recorded and an example recording sheet is included at the back of this document. The Add PIN command is a two stage command: 1st Stage: 1 code (inhibit) # where the parameter code is replaced by a value from the table below and parameter (inhibit) is optional (see explanation below). The unit is now in Add PIN mode 2nd Stage: address # PIN # where the parameter address is the memory address where the PIN is stored and PIN is the code stored at that address. The address must be in the range Series Keypad Handbook rev 2.1 page 4 of 23

Explanation of parameters The command has a code value which determines which of the Relay, Output-1 and Output-2 are operated when a valid PIN is entered. code Valid PIN function Relay Output-1 Relay & Output-1 Output-2 Relay & Output-2 Output-1 & Output-2 Relay & Output-1& Output2 The command also allows for an optional inhibit function which is associated with an input configured as an inhibit input. This input can be connected to an external switch. When the switch is closed access will be denied to any PIN whose with an inhibit parameter is set to 1. By default the inhibit value is always 0 (off) and does not need to be programmed if inhibit is not required. Once in the Add PIN mode, all PINs added will have the same code and inhibit parameter. To add PINs with different parameters, terminate the Add mode and then start the Add PIN command with the new parameters. Examples of the Add PIN command: PIN records configured to operate the Relay and Output-1, and access is subject to the state of the Inhibit Input. 131# Inhibit On Output Code Add PIN Command PIN records configured to operate only the Relay and no Inhibit. 11# Output Code Add PIN Command The programming status is indicated by the Green and Yellow LEDs and is explained in the table below: 1 code (inhibit) # - e.g. 11# + Green Flash Enter address # - e.g. 23# + Double Green Flash Enter PIN # - e.g. 2835# + Green Flash Enter next PIN address # - e.g. 24# + Double Green Flash Enter PIN # - e.g. 9235# Repeat as many times as required + Green Flash Press # - terminates Add PIN command 180-Series Keypad Handbook rev 2.1 page 5 of 23

Address PIN Mode (mode explanation on page 2) Before using this mode the configuration In this Mode PINs can be added as previously described on page 4. A more secure method is to allow each person to enter their own PIN thus ensuring that the PINs are secret. To use this method, PIN addresses are allocated with a blank PIN and each user automatically adds their PIN the first time they use the unit to gain access. The configuration setting - PIN Entry Mode must be set to 1 to use this method - see page 14 for details. As before, the Add PIN command is a two stage command: 1st Stage: 1 code (inhibit) # (see above for explanation of parameters). The unit is now in Add PIN mode. 2nd Stage address # # (address in the range 1-800) Adds a blank PIN to the selected address - this can be repeated for all addresses that have the same code and (inhibit) parameters. The programming status is indicated by the Green and Yellow LEDs and is explained in the table below: 1 code (inhibit) # - e.g. 11# + Green Flash Enter address # - e.g. 23# + Double Green Flash Enter # - blank PIN is entered + Green Flash Enter next PIN address # - e.g. 24# + Double Green Flash Enter # - blank PIN is entered Repeat as many times as required + Green Flash Press # - terminates Add PIN command Command - Set Expiry ( & Only) Each PIN record can be set for limited access either by limiting the number of accesses allowed or by an expiry date. Access is suspended when the count limit is reached or the date is passed. The PIN record is not deleted and can be reinstated by setting a new count value or expiry date. The Expiry command structure is: 2 # Address # Mode # Value # where the parameters are: Address - address of the PIN to set Mode - set count or date expiry mode Value - expiry count value or date 180-Series Keypad Handbook rev 2.1 page 6 of 23

The Mode parameter determine the function as detailed below: Mode BLANK 0 1 Function Disable: If this field is blank the Expiry Mode is disabled. Count mode: The counter is decremented with each access and when the count = 0, access is suspended. The count is not affected by a valid PIN denied access due to the Inhibit input. Date Mode: The PIN is only valid while the counter date is greater-than-or-equal to the current date of the unit. The Value parameter format will depend on the Mode selected: Mode 0 1 Value Counter: A value in the range 0 to 9999 Date: Expiry date in the format DDMMYY eg is 22 Mar 2004 If the expiry function is used and unit is in 2 it is essential to ensure that every PIN is unique (see on page 2). The programming status is indicated by the Green and Yellow LEDs and is explained in the tables below: 2# Green Flash Enter address # - e.g. 23# Double Green Flash Enter Mode # - e.g. 1# Date Mode Triple Green Flash Enter Value # - e.g # Date Green Flash Enter address # - e.g. 33# Double Green Flash Enter Mode # - e.g. 0# Counter Mode Triple Green Flash Enter Value # - e.g. 150# value Repeat as many times as required Green Flash Press # to terminate Set Expiry To disable Expiry on a PIN Green Flash Double Green Flash Green Flash 2# Enter address # - e.g. 23# Enter # (Mode BLANK) Press # to terminate Set Expiry 180-Series Keypad Handbook rev 2.1 page 7 of 23

Commands - Configuration The Configuration Mode allows the unit to be customised to meet installation requirements. Master PIN - 401# The Master PIN is always 8 digits and the default PIN is The PIN must be changed to avoid compromising security. 401# Enter new Master PIN# - e.g # PIN Capacity - 411# This sets the number of PIN records. The default value is 100. Search time of wrong PINs is reduced by setting this to the minimum required for the installation. This value is automatically increased as required when adding new PIN records. 411# Enter new value# - e.g. 50# PIN Length - 413# The PIN length is a global setting and can be set in the range 3-10 digits. The default value is 4. Changing the PIN length will render existing PIN records useless. 413# Enter new value# - e.g. 6# 180-Series Keypad Handbook rev 2.1 page 9 of 23

Minimum Open Time - 414# This setting only applies to installations where a door switch is connected to the unit. The door switch will reset the output as soon as the door is opened and some locks may re-energise before the door is properly opened. This command sets a time delay before the output is reset. 414# Duration# Duration is in 0.1 seconds increments in the range The default value is 5 (0.5 sec) 414# Enter new value# - e.g. 10# ( = 1 sec ) Outputs - Overview The unit has 3 outputs which consist of a relay and 2 open collector transistor outputs. These outputs can be set to different modes. Outputs are a global setting and define not only the duration and pulse behaviour of the outputs, but also the output mode. Outputs are configured with a Code and Duration as detailed below: Code Mode SWITCH ALARM CCTV Description Operate a door, gate, etc. when a valid PIN is entered Alarm output when a door is forced or left open, tamper switch activated or Lockout (if configured) Pulse output as soon as any key is pressed. This can be used to code a CCTV recorder or operate a light. Duration 0 1 to 60 Function Toggle Mode - output changes state with each event Pulse Mode - pulse duration in seconds Relay Function - 421# Selects the events that operate the relay. The format is: 421# Code# Duration# Default values are Switch & 5 seconds Yellow + Green Double Flash 421# Enter Code # - e.g. 0# sets Switch Mode Enter Duration # - e.g. 3# set 3 seconds 180-Series Keypad Handbook rev 2.1 page 10 of 23

Output 1 Function - 422# Selects the events that operate the Output 1. The format is: 422# Code# Duration# Default values are Alarm & 3 seconds Yellow + Green Double Flash 422# Enter Code # - e.g. 1# sets Alarm Mode Enter Duration # - e.g. 3# set 3 seconds Output 2 Function - 423# Selects the events that operate the Output 2. The format is: 423# Code# Duration# Default values are CCTV & 10 seconds Yellow + Green Double Flash 423# Enter Code # - e.g. 2# sets CCTV Mode Enter Duration # - e.g. 5# set 5 seconds Inputs - Overview The unit has 3 sources of inputs, Input 1 and Input 2 on the connector and ComboKey ( * & # pressed together) on the keypad. The inputs are global settings and their functionality is partially related to the way the outputs are configured. As an example, if one of the outputs is defined as an Alarm, it could make sense to assign one of the inputs as an Alarm Reset. Similarly, a Switch output can make use of Door Sense switches. If the site required some method to inhibit PINs during certain times of the day, or according to some sort of condition, an input could be set as an Inhibit input. PINs which are configured subject to the Inhibit condition would then be denied access if this input is held low. The ComboKey is also considered an input and if an output was defined to ring a bell, this could be used to code that output as a door bell. The Inputs 1 & 2 are defined by the Code in the following table. Code Input Function Inhibit - if held low, cards with inhibit enabled are denied access Door Sense - senses the door is open which will reset Switch output (normally the relay). Also trigger forced door alarm if door opened without a valid PIN. Alarm Reset - resets outputs set as Alarm. Exit Push Button - operates the Switch output (normally the relay) to allow access. 180-Series Keypad Handbook rev 2.1 page 11 of 23

ComboKey Function - 431# Sets which outputs operate when the * & # are pressed together. Use the code value from the table on page 5 to set the required outputs. The format is: 431# code # - Default value is 2 (output-1) 431# Enter code value# - e.g. 4# (output-2) Input-1 Function - 432# Sets the function of Input-1 from the Input Function table above. The format is: 432# code # - Default value is 3 (Exit Push Button) 432# Enter code value# - e.g. 0# (Inhibit) Input-2 Function - 433# Sets the function of Input-2 from the Input Function table above. The format is: 433# code # - Default value is 1 (Door Sense) 433# Enter code value# - e.g. 0# (Inhibit) Lockout Mode Lockout Mode is a means of preventing would-be hackers from luckily guessing a correct PIN and gaining access. After a defined number of incorrect PIN attempts, Lockout is invoked. While this mode is in operation, any valid PIN will also be refused. In order to provide a means of valid access despite the presence of Lockout, a valid PIN will work if entered 3 times in a row - referred to as Triple Entry. An Output code is also defined for Lockout Mode, which determines what action occurs when Lockout is enabled. Typically, this would be assigned to an Alarm output to alert someone of a possible hack-attempt. Lockout eventually times out, after a defined number of seconds, reverting the device to a normal mode of operation. Each incorrect PIN during Lockout resets the timeout. Typically this mode should not be indicated as this would alert the hacker. However Lockout can be set to indicate the state by a red flash accompanying the normal yellow flash. 180-Series Keypad Handbook rev 2.1 page 12 of 23

Lockout Failed Attempt - 441# Sets the number of successive failed attempts after which Lockout is applied. The format is: 441# value # - value is in range The default value is 3 441# Enter value# - e.g. 5# Lockout Timeout - 442# Sets the time after the last failed attempt that the unit reverts to normal operation. The format is: 442# seconds# - range seconds Default value is # Enter seconds# - e.g. 20# Lockout Output Code - 443# Sets the outputs that are operated if a Lockout occurs. The output code is selected from the table on page 5. The format is: 443# code# - Default code is 2 (output 1) 443# Enter code# - e.g. 4# (output-2) Lockout Indication - 444# Sets if Lockout condition is displayed on the LEDs. The format is: 444# state # where state is 0=Off and 1=On - Default is 0 (Off) 444# Enter value# - e.g. 1# (indication on) 180-Series Keypad Handbook rev 2.1 page 13 of 23

PIN Entry Mode - 451# This command selects if the unit operates in Normal PIN or Address PIN mode. These modes are explained on page 2. The format is: 451# mode# where mode is 0=Normal PIN and 1=Address PIN - default is 0 451# Enter mode # - e.g. 1# (Address mode) Set ID - 460# ( & Only) This command sets the unit s ID number so as to identify the source of logging data downloaded from different Keypads. The format is: For RS-485 it is essential that each unit has a unique address 460# ID# where ID is in the range 1 to default is 1 460# Enter ID # - e.g. 6# Date and Time The unit features a Real Time Clock used for transaction logging and date expiry. The date and time are set using the following commands. Set Time - 51# ( & Only) The command format is: 51# hh # mm # ss# (Hours are in 24 hour format) where: hh is the hour in range 0-23 mm is the minutes in range 0-59 ss is the seconds in range 0-59 Red Flash Double Red Flash Triple Red Flash 51# Set Time command Enter hh # - e.g. 10# Enter mm # - e.g. 07# Enter ss # - e.g. 24# 180-Series Keypad Handbook rev 2.1 page 14 of 23

The purpose of a duress PIN is to sound an alarm if the user is forced to enter a PIN and to either grant access or deny access at the same time depending on how the unit is configured. The duress function requires that one of the outputs is assigned as an Alarm function (default is Output-1). Assuming the Relay is assigned as Switch and Output-1 as Alarm then the following are examples of programming duress PINs at address 50 & 51. PIN 2580 will operate the Relay and Alarm (code 2 from table on page 5) PIN 7913 will operate Alarm only (code 3 from table on page 5) + Green Flash + Double Green Flash + Green Flash + Green Flash + Double Green Flash + Green Flash 12 # Add PIN with ouput code 2 50# address 2580# PIN # # - terminates the Add PIN command 13 # Add PIN with ouput code 3 51# address 7913# PIN # # - terminates the Add PIN command 180-Series Keypad Handbook rev 2.1 page 15 of 23

The following functions are now available: Reset Factory Defaults - 61# This function resets the unit to the factory default settings but does not clear the PIN codes 61# C # where C is 1 to confirm or 0 to cancel. If the existing PIN codes are equal or longer than 4 digits, the first 4 digits of the existing PIN code will still work. If the existing PIN codes are less than 4 digits, the PINs will have to be cleared and then re-entered. Alternatively, the PIN length can be configured to match the old PIN length and then the old PINs will remain valid. Clear PIN Memory - 62# This function clears the PIN memory. 62# C # where C is 1 to confirm or 0 to cancel. Clear Transaction Log - 63# ( & Only) This function clears the transaction log memory 63# C # where C is 1 to confirm or 0 to cancel. After using these functions it is essential that you power down the unit so that the Reset mode is disabled. RS-232 Connection ( & Only) The drawing below shows how to connect the unit to a PC. 23 RS 232/485 Selection The can be set to operate in either RS-232 mode (see page 18 for connection details) or RS-485 mode by setting 3 jumpers on the board as shown in the drawings below. RS-232 RS-485 NB: Only on last unit Termination Jumper RS-485 networks require that the cable have a termination resistor at each end of the cable to ensure the correct electrical properties for reliable communications. This jumper is provided on each of the PinLock units and on the RS-232/RS-485 converter. Only the last unit must have the TERMINATOR jumper ON as shown in the drawing above. It is essential that the TERMINATOR jumper is removed on all units other then the last one. Unit IDs & RS-485 Because all the units are connected to the same cable it is essential that each unit has a unique ID (see Set ID - 460# on page 14). If more that one unit has the same ID there will be unpredictable communications errors resulting in corrupt data. The PINLOCK Windows Software provides a utility for identifying unit addresses. See the section First Time / Com Port in the PINLOCK Software Handbook for details. Software ( & Only) Installation and operating instructions are in the README file on the CD-Rom provided with the unit. 180-Series Keypad Handbook rev 2.1 page 21 of 23

Master PIN Reset Procedure The 180 series cannot be factory reset without having access to the Command mode (to make use of the 61#, 62# and 63# commands). If the Master PIN is lost or forgotten, the unit cannot be edited via Command mode. For the & this is not too serious as the PC interface will continue to work correctly, but a will effectively be 'locked'. This Backdoor Reset Procedure restores the Master PIN to the default It is a multi-step procedure: 1. Power-down unit 2. Short Jumper to RESET position (beeps will be off) 3. Power-on unit - This mode is only active for 2 minutes from power-up 4. As if entering the Master PIN (while holding the * key) enter and then release the * key. 5. The green and yellow LED should have flicked quickly. If not, repeat 4. This state is only active for 15 seconds 6.
