3 1 Overview Please read the entire document before beginning. This document covers the installation of third-party components used with Relius Administration If you are unclear about this installation, please contact Support at , option 3. Scope The installation of Relius Administration 12.0 is divided into three parts: database, component, and workstation installations. This document covers the component installation. Both upgrades and new installations must follow the procedures detailed herein for a successful implementation of Relius Administration The component installation is available on CD. This CD must be installed before Relius Administration Do not install this CD until you have downloaded RA 12.0 and are ready to install it. Once the components are in place, the RA 12.0 workstation installation can then be run. System Requirements The component CD will not install to systems that do not meet the minimum requirements. Systems that fall between the minimum and recommended standards will receive a warning message, stating that clients should consider upgrading soon. Units that meet or exceed the recommended standards will not receive any notices. Process Minimum Recommended Processor 800 MHz 2.0 GHz RAM* 512 MB 1024 MB Drive Space 500 MB 2 GB Resolution 800 x 600 The installation of Relius Administration 12.0 involves the following basic procedures: 1) Read and understand this document and the accompanying Relius Administration 12.0 Update document. 2) Ensure your database has been properly exported and backed up. Personal Oracle 8i systems should have their database setup and running prior to installing the Component CD.

4 3) Install Personal Oracle 10g (standalone) or Oracle 10g Client (networked PC). 4) Install the Relius Administration Component CD. (This installation.) 5) Install Relius Administration 12.0, running update scripts against database if necessary. 6) Set up additional workstations (if necessary).

5 2 Performing the Relius Administration 12.0 Component Installation In most cases where an update of an existing Relius Administration workstation is performed and Windows Update is regularly run, the majority of these components will already be properly installed and not updated by this process. Pre-installation Notes: a) This installation is valid for Windows 2000 Pro, Windows XP (Home and Pro), and Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services (if the use of Relius Administration on Terminal Services is properly licensed by SunGard Relius). All references to Windows, unless otherwise noted, are also valid for the above named operating systems. Special Note for clients licensed by SunGard Relius to run Relius Administration on Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services: The installation must be installed at the server console as the Administrator, not remotely connected using client software. b) Windows Vista is not yet supported by SunGard Relius. For more information, please visit our web site ( Click the Windows Vista link on the login page. c) Run Scandisk (also known as Analyze ) to check the integrity of your hard drive and have any problems resolved before installing this release. d) Be sure no screen saver will become active during the installation. SunGard Relius discourages the use of screen savers whenever running Relius Administration or its Installer. e) Many support files will be installed to the System directory, normally C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 (on Windows 2000) or C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 (on Windows XP). f) The installation process takes approximately 1/2 hour to complete, depending on the number of components being installed and the speed of your workstation. For example, if the Oracle client is already installed on a Windows XP workstation whose Microsoft.NET is up-to-date, the Oracle client and.net installations should be skipped, saving a considerable amount of time. The only Step that will be repeated regardless of installation status is Step 2.18, Crystal.NET files. g) Review the Relius Administration 12.0 system requirements located on our web site ( Do not proceed with the update if your environment does not meet the minimum system requirements.

6 h) Any components that are already installed and properly configured on your system will be skipped during this procedure. 2.1 Remove any icons or shortcuts from the StartUp folder. Services (such as real-time virus scanning) that may impede or interfere with the installation should be stopped and set to Manual before proceeding. Additionally, programs that are set to launch when Windows is started can also be specified in C:\WINDOWS\WIN.INI. Please edit this file using Notepad. Temporarily remark the entries RUN= and LOAD= by placing a semi-colon ( ; ) in front of the line (if programs are specified), then Save and Exit the WIN.INI file. Example of remark: ;RUN=EXAMPLE.EXE 2.2 Re-start the computer. Windows or other programs may have locked some files that need to be overwritten during the update process. 2.3 Temporarily disable all virus protection. 2.4 Insert the Relius Administration Component CD for Workstations into your CD-ROM drive. Click Start, then Run and type D:\Setup.exe in the command box (where D: is your CD-ROM drive), then click OK. 2.5 This installation assumes that Oracle is already installed and configured. Standalone systems require the Personal Oracle 10g database. Systems using networked databases require the Oracle 10g Client.

7 2.6 If your system does not meet the recommended hardware standards, you will receive a message encouraging you to upgrade or replace your equipment in the near future. Systems that fall short of the minimum hardware standards will not allow the installation to continue. 2.7 At the Welcome screen, click Next.

8 2.8 A preliminary set of files will be copied to your system. 2.9 If Windows Installer 3.1 has not yet been installed or configured on your computer, it will be installed now.

9 2.10 If necessary, Microsoft Data Access Components 2.8 will install. When the MDAC installation is complete (or upon reboot if necessary), a DOS screen will briefly appear. This is normal and expected Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 will then install. This process takes several minutes.

10 2.12 At the first screen, click Next You will be prompted to accept the license agreement. Check the box marked I accept and click Next.

11 2.14 Do not interrupt the process. It will take several minutes to finish, and the flood bar may not necessarily reflect the precise time to completion When.NET has completed, you will see this screen. Click Finish.

12 2.16 Microsoft SQL Express will then install. This database program is used for importing and exporting of plan-specific data. Systems with MSSQL 2000 will have SQL Express installed as well. MSSQL will not be uninstalled, in case clients use it for other purposes SQL Distributed Management Objects (SQL DMO) will install Crystal.NET Runtime files must be installed to your system. In many environments, installation message boxes will flash on your screen. This is normal and expected. Therefore, do not interrupt the process The Crystal Report Writer (version 10.0) will be the final component installed. If your system has an earlier version of Crystal Reports (such as version 8.5 supplied by SunGard Relius for use with earlier versions of Relius Administration), those versions will remain intact and will function without error despite the presence of version 12.0.

13 2.20 Crystal Reports can take several minutes. Do not interrupt the process When the installation has finished, you will see the screen below. Be sure Yes, I want to restart my computer now is selected, and click Finish. Leave the Component CD in the drive until after you have completed restarting the computer and logging back on. This is to ensure any components that required a restart have finished installing.

14 2.22 After logging back on, you may see a DOS window appear (SECEDIT.EXE) momentarily, as well as a Control Panel setup window. These are normal and expected. Do not interrupt the processes that are running. They will close on their own You may also see a continuation of the Crystal Reports installation. This is due to the need for your system to reboot before completion. Most Windows XP systems will not experience this Step If action was taken in Step 2.1, restore the icons or shortcuts that were temporarily removed from the StartUp group or folder and remove the remark from the RUN= and LOAD= statements from WIN.INI. Restart any services that were temporarily set to Manual and if necessary place them back in Automatic mode.

15 3 Licensing Crystal & Verifying Connectivity If you have not licensed Crystal Report Writer on your systems, SunGard Relius recommends verifying entering that licensing information. 3.1 Open Crystal Reports. Click Start Programs Crystal Reports 10. Click Next. 3.2 Select I am a registered member then enter the Registration Number of and click Finish.

16 3.3 The Crystal registration should be complete. Click OK. At that point, you should see the Crystal startup screen. Click Cancel. 3.4 Click File Log On Server. In the Data Explorer screen, browse the tree to Create New Connection, then expand Oracle Server. Do not use ODBC.

17 3.5 You will be prompted for connection information to your Oracle database. Enter RADB in the Service field. Then enter QT in the User ID and Password fields and click Finish. 3.6 If you see your database service (RADB) listed under the Oracle Server branch, you have successfully connected Crystal Reports to your Oracle database. Click Close and exit Crystal Reports.

18 3.7 You are now ready to download and install Relius Administration Remember that you can continue running earlier versions of Relius Administration after this Component installation and before receiving and installing Relius Administration Repeat the process of installing the Relius Components on each workstation, beginning with Step 2.1.
