1 How to set up an Amazon Work Profile for Windows 8 Setting up a new profile for Windows 8 requires you to navigate some screens that may lead you to create the wrong type of account. By following this guide, we will help you create a local administrator account that will work properly with your Amazon workspace. 1. On your desktop, in the lower left hand corner, go to the windows logo (formerly the start button) and right click on it. Left click on control panel from the list. 2. Change the View by: Category to Large Icons.

2 3. Select User Accounts. It may be listed alphabetically depending on your view. 4. Select the option to manage another account. 5. Select the option to add a new user in PC settings.

3 6. In this new screen, we should be in the Accounts category. Make sure Other accounts, is selected and click to add an account. 7. On this screen, it will ask you for an address. DO NOT put in an address. Choose to Sign in without a Microsoft account (not recommended) at the bottom. Yes, you read that right. You want to click on the not recommended line to create the correct account. Hit Next.

4 8. Choose the option to make a local account. DO NOT choose the Microsoft account. 9. Fill out the information required. The user name can be labeled Work-Amazon or something similar to show this is your new work account. Ensure a password is selected that you can remember easily. Include a hint.

5 10. If everything is filled out properly, it should look like the screen below. Hit Next when ready. 11. You do not need to check the box if it is an account for a child. Select Finish.

6 12. If you are on the Accounts category with other accounts selected, you should see that the new account is made as a Local Account. 13. Click on the account and click on the button that says edit.

7 14. In the screens below you will initially see Standard User as the account type. We want to click the drop down arrow shown below to see other choices. You will see multiple choices. Select Administrator. Do not select anything else. Select OK only when Administrator is showing: 15. Ensure it says Administrator Local Account. Then move your mouse pointer to the top of the screen.

8 16. If you moved your mouse correctly, you should see a black band that says PC settings. Close the screen with the red X in the upper right corner. 17. In the Manage Accounts screen, your work profile should now appear as shown below. You may close out of this screen and go to the next step.

9 18. Right click on the windows logo (formerly the start button). Left click on the arrow to the right of Shut down or sign out line, and then left click on Sign out to get back to the login screen. It is important to sign out of your primary account. The VPN will not work if another profile is active. 19. Select your Amazon Work account.

10 20. Enter your password at the prompt. 21. Let it initialize and start up. It may go through a few screens before you are able to do anything. 22. While it is setting up your profile, you may get screens like this:

11 23. Once the Windows 8 metro screen loads, you will see that your profile is logged on as shown below: 24. To get to your desktop, either press the desktop icon or press the windows logo key on your keyboard. From here you are going to right click on the windows logo (formerly the start button) and left click on File Explorer. 25. If there are any files you need for your work profile that still remain on your primary profile, you can open File Explorer (as shown above), ensure you have chosen This PC and double click on Local Disk C as shown below.

12 26. Right click on the blank section of this window, left click on New and select Folder. 27. You can rename this folder as shown below. Ensure you made this folder on your C drive to allow you to transfer your files between profiles. 28. If you need to reinstall any work links, you can refer to your training s. You can still access your personal online in any profile. They can also be provided to you by leadership and your training manager. 29. The VPN installation should be seen in your start menu. You can click and drag it out to your desktop to make a new icon for quick use. If you have the link for Virtual Connect, you should be able to run it now. 30. Do note that you will need to do ant/login for a new connection after connecting to Cisco. 31. If everything was followed in this guide, your new work profile for Windows 8 should be ready for use.
