5 Chapter 1: Telecm Management Intrductin t Telecm Wrkspace ONE UEM allws yu t manage individual plicies fr mbile devices in the Wrkspace ONE UEM Admin Prtal under the Telecm tab. Wrkspace ONE UEM ffers tw slutins fr Telecm Management: Telecm Fundatinal and Telecm Advanced. Telecm Fundatinal slutin is available as a standard feature f yur Wrkspace ONE UEM cnsle. Wrkspace ONE UEM precnfigures the data limits. Telecm Advanced slutin prvides mre custmizatin ptins. The Telecm Management capabilities fr bth fundatinal and advanced are detailed in the table belw. Telecm Fundatinal Telecm Fundatinal capabilities includes basic functinality such as the ability t: Track device data usage, vice usage, and SMS usage. Telecm Advanced Yu have the ability t track telecm data in sme ways using custm settings, prfiles, and cmpliance plicies frm the UEM cnsle such as: Cnfigure telecm plans with specific telecm data, vice, and messaging limits. Assign plans manually r autmatically t mbile assets based n multiple device attributes. Cnfigure telecm plans with pled usage fr calls, messages, and data. Perfrm cmpliance actins including end-user ntificatins, escalatins, and device restrictins if usage limits are exceeded. 5

6 Chapter 1: Telecm Management Supprted Platfrms Telecm mnitring and management capabilities differ based n the device mdel and perating system. Additinal infrmatin n specific telecm data features that Wrkspace ONE UEM supprts n devices and perating system versin pairings can be fund within the UEM cnsle. Platfrm Platfrm Versin Usage Tracked Andrid 3.2+ Vice, SMS, Data ios 4.1+ Data BlackBerry 5.0 Vice, SMS Limited supprt may be available fr ther devices r perating systems. Refer t the User Guide f the relevant platfrm r cntact AirWatch Supprt fr mre infrmatin. Getting Started Befre getting started with the Wrkspace ONE UEM Telecm Management slutin, yu must knw the pre-requisites t streamline the prcess. These pre-requisites help yu t experience the cmplete benefits f the prduct: Telecm management can be enabled nly in yur tpmst rganizatin grup. In Andrid devices, the cmmunicatin between devices and cnsle (that is, sending samples and telecm usage data frm device t cnsle) happens in presence f the telecm service applicatin. This applicatin gets installed autmatically nt the device during Wrkspace ONE UEM Agent enrllment if the device is set t cllect Telecm usage infrmatin. In ios/blackberry devices, the samples frm the devices are sent thrugh the agent. Mre infrmatin n telecm management is explained in the fllwing sectins. A Nte Abut ios Devices Reprting Data Usage Please nte that if yu cnfigure Telecm Management in the UEM cnsle and then enrll ios devices, in that rder, then the AirWatch Agent shuld start reprting data usage immediately under device details. Hwever, if ios devices are enrlled first, and then yu cnfigure Telecm Management, then the end user must select the AirWatch Agent frm their device t receive the new settings (assuming the AirWatch Agent is running in the backgrund). If the AirWatch Agent is nt running n the device, the agent must be launched t receive the new settings and t start cllecting Telecm usage data. A best practice is t turn n the Backgrund App Refresh setting in the Apple ios Agent (Grups & Settings > All Settings > Devices & Users > Apple > Apple ios > Agent Settings). This ensures the AirWatch ios Agent, when running as a backgrund app n the device, checks int the UEM cnsle n a regular basis s that settings are updated and Telecm usage data is cllected. The end user is nt required t launch the AirWatch Agent. If the app is clsed by the user r the device is rebted, the app needs t be relaunched t remain in the backgrund unless the device is rebted r the app is stpped frcefully. Querying r reprting f the cellular data usage fllws a frequency f nce per day nly. 6

8 Chapter 2: Telecm Wizard Setup Deplyment - Fundatinal The Telecm wizard guides yu thrugh the initial setup f yur telecm assets. The Telecm wizard can be accessed by selecting Telecm frm the main menu in the UEM cnsle. T setup deplyment using the Telecm Wizard: 1. Select Cnfigure t begin the setup prcess. The Telecm Settings page appears. 2. Cnfigure the telecm data that yu want t cllect fr each supprted platfrm. Select Next. Apple ios Wrkspace ONE UEM uses the AirWatch Agent riginally dwnladed t the device fr enrllment purpses and t cllect telecm data frm ios devices when telecm data cllectin is enabled. The agent runs in the backgrund. Yu can nly cllect Cellular Data Usage frm Apple ios devices. Andrid Wrkspace ONE UEM uses a Telecm Service app t cllect telecm data frm Andrid devices. This applicatin installs autmatically upn device enrllment when telecm is enabled and runs in the backgrund. The three types f telecm data cllected frm Andrid devices are Call Lgs, SMS Lgs, and Cellular Data Usage. 3. Cnfigure the privacy settings by specifying what telecm usage data are cllected and displayed in the UEM cnsle. The settings may take a few hurs t take effect. Yu can make selectins by telecm data element and by device wnership. Fr example, yu can cllect and display raming status fr Crprate-Dedicated and Crprate-Shared devices, but ignre it fr Emplyee- Owned devices. Review yur selectins, and select Previus t mdify them if necessary r Save & Clse t save the settings and return t the Telecm Management Settings page. Yu may disable this wizard in tw ways: Prceed thrugh the steps t cmplete the initial setup as detailed in this sectin. When yu select Finish, the Wizard deplys yur setup and turns itself ff. Access the Telecm Wizard by selecting Telecm frm the main menu in the UEM cnsle. Unlike Telecm Fundatinal, summary f the Telecm Management cnfiguratin is seen in Telecm Advanced. T setup the deplyment using the Telecm Wizard: 1. Select Cnfigure t begin the setup prcess. The Telecm Settings page appears. 2. Cnfigure the telecm data yu want t cllect fr each supprted platfrm. 11 Chapter 3: Telecm Usage Mnitring Telecm Dashbard The Telecm Dashbard prvides a view f all yur deplyment related analytics. The Dashbard displays usage and raming analytics fr yur deplyment that includes devices under the current Organizatin Grup with Telecm plans assigned t them. The Telecm dashbard is available fr bth Telecm Fundatinal and Telecm Advanced users. The functinality f this sectin varies based n yur cnfiguratin and the differences are detailed in this sectin. T access the Telecm Dashbard, navigate t Telecm > Dashbard frm the UEM cnsle. Use the Dashbard t track calls, data, and SMS usage acrss different plans. The Telecm Fundatinal dashbard displays the fllwing infrmatin: Mnthly usage ranging frm lw t high can be seen by hvering ver the graph with their muse pinter Raming Status shws the number f devices that either are raming r nt. The Telecm Advanced dashbard displays the fllwing infrmatin: Plan Utilizatin fr individual and pled plans. Usage Histry fr the three highest usage plans Raming usage fr all devices is shwn here The three largest plans and device cunt The data that displays n the Telecm Dashbard is subject t the Privacy Settings yu cnfigure in the System Settings. Fr example, if yu d nt cllect r display any call, data r SMS usage statistics fr emplyee-wned devices, then the Telecm Dashbard des nt display this infrmatin. The plan filter in the tp-right crner f the screen filters all the graphs dwn t a particular plan. Viewing the Telecm Fundatinal Dashbard The Telecm Fundatinal dashbard has mre simple telecm infrmatin. Yu can view usage and raming details graphed here. Usage The Usage sectin shws the usage fr calls, data, and SMS messages cmpared t the limits pre-cnfigured by Wrkspace ONE UEM. The graph displays lw t very high threshld values. Devices listed as Nt Reprted have nt reprted any usage details t Wrkspace ONE UEM and may warrant further investigatin if this is unexpected. 11

Raming The Raming sectin shws histry, status, and data usage fr all telecmenabled devices. Devices are gruped accrding t hw much they have ramed. These devices are nt raming presently. Fr example, 4% f devices have ramed frm 1-7 days, and 3% have ramed fr between 1-4 weeks, in the past 30 days. Viewing the Telecm Advanced Dashbard The Telecm Advanced Dashbard displays mre detailed infrmatin. Yu can view plan utilizatin, usage histry, raming, and tps plans fr all telecm-enabled devices. Plan Utilizatin The Plan Utilizatin sectin shws the usage statistics fr vice, data, and SMS message cmpared t the plan limits yu cnfigure as part f the telecm plan creatin. Devices listed as Nt Reprted have nt reprted any usage details t Wrkspace ONE UEM and may warrant further investigatin if this is unexpected. There are tw types f graphs shwn here, Individual and Pled. Individual is selected by default. Nt Reprted, Nt Supprted, and Private clumns display nly if ne f the three usages has devices t graph. If there are n devices that match this criteria is enrlled, then the categry des nt appear. 12

13 Chapter 3: Telecm Usage Mnitring Cnfiguring Pled Data Limits If yu select t view Pled data usage, the charts are updated t shw pled data usage. Pled plan usage ranges can be cnfigured frm the System Settings pages. Navigate t Telecm > Settings t view the Telecm General page. On the Telecm General page, cnfigure usage limits in the Pled Plans Usage Ranges sectin. Changing the Pled Plan Usage ranges in the System Settings menu nly cnfigures hw users' plan cnsumptin is displayed n the Telecm Dashbard, and is fr reference purpses nly. Data presented and cnfigured in the UEM cnsle may nt reflect actual carrier billing. Wrkspace ONE UEM default values fr Usage Ranges are: Range Calls Data Messages Very Lw 0 t 499 minutes 0 up t 1 GB 0 t 499 messages Lw 500 t 999 minutes 1 up t 2 GB 500 t 999 messages Medium 1000 t 1499 minutes 2 up t 3 GB 1000 t 1499 messages High 1500 t 1999 minutes 3 up t 4 GB 1500 t 1999 messages Very High minutes 4+ GB messages Current Setting Select whether t Inherit r Override the displayed settings. Inherit means use the settings f the current rganizatin grup's parent OG, while Override enables the settings fr editing s yu can mdify the current OG's settings directly. Enable Telecm Management - Disabling Telecm Management remves an administratr's ability t cnfigure and mnitr telecm usage. Pled Plan Usage Ranges - Custmize hw yur OG's telecm usage appears in the Dashbard. Child Permissin Select the available behavir f child rganizatin grups that exist belw the currently selected rganizatin grup. Inherit nly means child OGs are nly allwed t inherit these settings. Override nly means they verride the settings, and Inherit r Override means yu can chse t inherit r verride settings in child OGs that exist belw the currently selected OG. Usage Histry The Usage Histry sectin shws the vice, data, and SMS message statistics fr all devices assigned t a telecm plan in the UEM cnsle. Pled plans fr calls, data, and SMS are represented by the red hrizntal line, which indicates an verage fr the plan. This sectin displays the past three billing cycles fr each plan. Selecting a bar graph sectin displays the Device List View f each device that falls under the plan. Hver ver each individual clumn t expand the view. 13

Selecting any ne f these sectins displays the Device List View f each device assigned t that plan. Raming The Raming sectin shws raming statistics f telecm-enabled devices. 14

15 Chapter 3: Telecm Usage Mnitring Histry If any devices ram during the billing cycle, Wrkspace ONE UEM adds the duratin, and this graph represents the ttal sum f all raming time during the current billing cycle. Fr example, a device might shw five days f raming, but it may nt be raming currently. This means that the device ramed fr ne day tw weeks ag, and fur days last week. Devices listed as Nt Reprted have nt reprted any usage details t Wrkspace ONE UEM and may warrant further investigatin if this is unexpected. Status This graph shws the current raming status acrss all devices during the billing cycle. The different statuses are: Apprved Devices listed as Apprved are thse which Wrkspace ONE UEM flags as raming and are allwed t ram. The devices are allwed t ram because the assigned telecm plan allws it t ram. Nt Apprved Devices listed as Nt Apprved are thse which Wrkspace ONE UEM flags as raming and are nt allwed t ram. The devices are nt allwed t ram because the assigned telecm plan des nt allw it t ram. Fr mre infrmatin abut allwing (fr Apprved) r preventing (fr Nt Apprved) devices frm raming, see Disabling Raming (ios), Default Raming Settings Override (ios), and Raming Preventin (Andrid). Yu can als apprve Raming when creating a telecm plan. Nt Raming Devices listed as Nt Raming are nt in raming presently. Nt Reprted Devices listed as Nt Reprted have nt reprted any usage details t Wrkspace ONE UEM and may warrant further investigatin if this is unexpected. Data Usage The data usage f the devices that was flagged as raming during the billing cycle. Devices listed as Nt Reprted have nt reprted any usage details t Wrkspace ONE UEM and may warrant further investigatin if this is unexpected. Plan Usage Details fr Telecm Assets Frm the List View page, yu can view detailed infrmatin n vice, messaging, data, and raming f devices. Usage fr vice, messages, and data that are registered int a pled plan is indicated with a Pled tag next t the data. T view the abve mentined details, navigate t Telecm > List View. Telecm Fundatinal and Telecm Advanced users are able t view the Device Details page and List View discussed in this sectin. The available infrmatin between the tw may differ. The general clumns fr vice, messaging, data, and raming tabs n the list view page are listed in the table belw. Clumn Last Seen General Inf User Peak Vice (Min)* Message Descriptin Displays the mst recent date and the time during which the device was successfully queried by Wrkspace ONE UEM. Displays the Name f the device and wnership type. Displays user infrmatin including username and address. Displays the number f minutes used during the cnfigured Peak Vice Time Interval. Displays the message usage f the device against the actual set limit. 15

Current Cuntry/Hme Cuntry Current Carrier/Hme Carrier Plan Details* *Telecm Advanced nly. Nt Raming Devices marked with an are thse which are nt flagged as raming presently. Fr mre infrmatin abut allwing (fr Apprved) r preventing (fr Nt Apprved) devices frm raming, see Disabling Raming (ios), Default Raming Settings Override (ios), and Raming Preventin (Andrid). Displays the cuntry where the device is cnnected. Displays the name f the service prvider t which the device is cnnected. Shws which plan the listed device is assigned t. Device Details Frm the Device Details tab, yu can view the telecm related data fr that specific device, including call, data, message, and raming statistics. Select a device frm the Telecm List View page t pen the Device Details Telecm Tab fr the particular device. Andrid devices display calls, messages, data, and AW App usage details whereas ios devices display nly data. This feature is available nly if there is Telecm Advanced settings. Shw Latest Usage - Advanced UEM cnsle Server stres the telecm usage statistics and these statistics are updated n a scheduled basis. Because f this, there may be a discrepancy between a device's usage statistics that have been stred in the Cnsle Server and 16

17 Chapter 3: Telecm Usage Mnitring thse that appear n the UEM cnsle. By default, yu see the data as it was reprted at the time f the last scheduled update. If yu want t see the abslute latest updates, which may nt yet have been prcessed, then yu can select the Shw Latest Usage ptin n each Device Details page. A message displays indicating that the data yu nw see may nt be included in the calculatins used fr data usage limits r cmpliance plicies. Calls Frm the Calls page yu can view the call histry f the last three billing cycles, in additin t the individual calls made and the duratin f the calls. Data Frm the Data page yu can view the data histry f the last three billing cycles, in additin t the individual data transfers made and the amunt f data sent and received. Messages Frm the Message page yu can view the message histry f the last three billing cycles, in additin t the individual messages sent and received. The calls, data, and messages graphs shw if the plan is individual r pled. Raming Frm the Raming page yu can view the raming histry f a particular device. If there is raming activity fr the device, the activity displays under Raming Histry. This sectin als displays the ttal number f days it was raming, the raming carrier, and the raming cuntry. AW App Usage Frm the AW App Usage page yu can view the AW App usage histry f a particular device. Details abut different AW Apps being dwnladed and used can als be viewed. 17

Select Cnfigure. The Telecm Management wizard settings page appears. Select the type f data t be cllected fr each supprted platfrm. Individual and Pled Plans Yu can cnfigure telecm plans fr individual r pled usage. Yu can view the plan type when yu create r edit a plan, and when yu view the usage details. When yu create limits fr individual plans, the usage limits apply t the assigned device. Fr example, if yu set the vice limit t 1,000 minutes, then that may mean 1,000 minutes per device registered within the plan. Pled plans share usage fr all devices that are registered. If yu set a vice limit f 1,000 minutes, then all devices registered shares these minutes. Individual and pled plans can be cnfigured fr vice, message, and data plan limits. Telecm Plan List The Telecm Plan List allws yu t view, edit, r manage Telecm plans. Navigate t Telecm > Plan List t view the list f available plans. The general clumns fr the plan list are listed in the table belw. Fr individual plans, the usage applies t each device in the plan. Fr pled plans, admins can specify the threshld f usage r an unlimited amunt f usage t be shared amng all devices in the plan. Plan usage can cntain nly up t 2048 GB. Fr vice and SMS usage, yu can select which directin f usage is mnitred. Settings Peak Vice Time Interval Billing Cycle Resets Raming Apprved Descriptin Use the drp-dwn menu t set the time-frame that Wrkspace ONE UEM mnitrs fr vice usage, r select the N Peak Interval check bx if yu like Wrkspace ONE UEM t mnitr fr calls made thrughut the day. Use the drp-dwn menu t select which calendar day f each mnth resets the mnthly billing cycle fr the telecm plan. All usage and telecm-related cmpliance rules reset n the selected day each mnth. Use the drp-dwn menu t specify if raming internatinally is allwed fr the telecm plan. This helps Wrkspace ONE UEM t accurately graph the device in the dashbard t shw the apprval status f any currently raming devices. 5. Select Save t add the telecm plan t Wrkspace ONE UEM r Save & Assign t add the plan and immediately assign it t devices. The telecm plan is dynamically assigned t the devices based n the criteria yu determine while creating the dynamic assignment rules. T cnfigure dynamic assignment rules: 1. Navigate t Telecm > Dynamic Assignment. 2. Select Add. 3. Cnfigure the settings mentined in the table belw. Settings Rank Organizatin Grup User Grup Cuntry/Carrier Plan Actins Allw Plan Replacement Descriptin The sequence in which Wrkspace ONE UEM checks and assigns the dynamic rule against the enrlled devices. Wrkspace ONE UEM checks if the device meets the criteria f the rule with Rank 1. If the criteria des nt match, then Wrkspace ONE UEM checks the same device against the rule with Rank 2. When all the criteria match, the device is assigned t the assciated telecm plan. The rank is autmatically ppulated when new rules are created. The devices enrlled t the selected rganizatin grup are assigned with the telecm plan. The devices enrlled t the selected user grup are assigned with the telecm plan. The devices with the selected carrier fr the selected Cuntry is assigned with the plan. The telecm plan t be assigned t the device. Select Delete Rule in the clumn f any rule t remve it frm the dynamic assignment list. Check this bx t allw the UEM cnsle t reassign devices based n changes in any f the abve criteria.
