3 Recommended System Requirements Please note: We no longer support installations on Windows 95/NT/98/2000/ME. We also do not currently support installations on Apple Macintosh or Linux-based systems. Getting Started Installing the software: The current version of Elmhurst Design SAP 2005 can be installed on a standalone PC only and cannot be installed on a network. A note about licenses: The licensing options for Elmhurst Design SAP include 1 to 4 PC options and a Site License option. Each license number that you might have is explicitly for the Office that it is associated with and must not be used elsewhere. Design Specifications Before you begin, please ensure that your PC meets the following minimum specifications: Windows Vista / Windows 7 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) processor 1 GB of system memory 40 GB Hard Drive DVD-ROM drive Windows XP 300 MHz 32-bit (x86) processor 128 MB of system memory 1.5 GB Hard Drive CD/DVD-ROM drive Installation Before you start please check you have each of the following: Your Elmhurst installation - from either the CD-ROM or downloaded.exe file Your serial licence number included in your letter or Administrator rights for your installation PC (please check with your IT department if unsure)

4 You have read, understood and agree to the Software and End User Licence Agreements Installation on Windows XP BEFORE YOU START: Please ensure that you are logged on with Administrative rights. You may need to consult your IT department for assistance. This software will not operate correctly without the necessary administrative rights. 1. Click on the link provided by Elmhurst in your new-user . A prompt will appear asking to Save the setup_ees.exe. We suggest you save this file to your desktop. 2. Once you have saved the file, double click on the Elmhurst SAP 2005 setup icon (as shown below) 3. Setup should now start. Please follow the on-screen instructions to install the software, ensuring you read the License Agreement & User Information. Once the set-up programme has finished installing the software, you will need to restart your computer before using the program. 4. Once your computer has restarted, start the program either by double clicking the icon on your desktop (if you selected one in the installation) or by clicking Start > All Programmes > Elmhurst SAP 2005 > Elmhurst SAP At this point, the software will check to see if Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 has been installed. If not, it will prompt you to install it or download it from the internet. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete this stage if required. Do not be alarmed if this prompt does not appear as this indicates that Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 is already installed correctly on your PC. 6. The first time you install the program, the system will install a component called EES_LIB. The System initialisation will then tell you if the EES_lib.DLL has installed successfully. If so, please click OK.

5 7. Once installation is successful, you will be asked if you have any data from a previous version of the software that you wish to import. Click No to continue. NB - You have the option to import at a later date should you wish. For further help on importing, or if you have multiple databases, please contact our Support Team. 8. You will now see the EES Password entry screen. Leave all values as they are (Username: SUPERVISOR, Password blank) and click OK. (If you imported a password protected database using the import on Step 6, you will need to enter the correct credentials for this database) 9. You will be prompted to create a new database. Click Yes to proceed. The default database is saved in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Elmhurst Energy Systems\SAP 2005\EES_DB.MDB (where C:\ is the letter of your hard-drive this path may change dependent on where your software was installed and the version of software installed). Should you require further assistance with installing your software, please call our Software Support Team on Installation on Windows Vista / Windows 7 BEFORE YOU START: Please ensure that you are logged on with Administrative rights or know the Administrator password. We recommend having UAC turned on before installation. To do this go to Start Icon > Control Panel > User Accounts > Turn User Account Control on or off. You may need to restart your computer for this measure to take effect. 1. Click on the link provided by Elmhurst in your New User . A prompt will appear asking

6 you to Save the setup_ees.exe. We suggest you save this file to your desktop. 2. Double click on the Setup_EES icon 3. Click Allow on the UAC prompt. 4. Setup should now start. Please follow the on-screen instructions to install the software, ensuring you read the License Agreement & User Information. Once the set-up programme has finished installing the software, you will need to restart your computer before using the program. 5. Once your computer has restarted, start the program either by double clicking the icon on your desktop (if you selected one in the installation) or by clicking Start > All Programmes > Elmhurst SAP 2005 > Elmhurst SAP A programme called EESRename.exe may flash on your Windows taskbar, click it and select Allow on the UAC prompt. It will then install EES_LIB. 7. The User Account Control may pop up again, please click Allow. 8. The System initialisation will then tell you if the EES_lib.DLL has installed successfully. If so, please click OK. 9. Once the installation is successful you may be asked if you have any data from a previous version of the software that you wish to import. Click No to continue. You do have the option to import at a later date should you wish. For further help on importing or if you have multiple databases, please contact our Support Team.

Troubleshooting: Error Messages 1. Error initializing EES_LIB! Class not registered when you double click on the desktop icon This is a problem with the Microsoft Vista UAC (User Account Control) being switched off. We recommend turning UAC on during installation. To do this go to Start Icon > Control Panel > User Accounts > Turn User Account Control on or off. After you have done this, double click on the desktop icon and it will allow you access. 2. Unable to install EES_LIB.dll / You do not have sufficient rights to install this program You need to be logged on as the Administrator account, have Administrative rights associated with your account or have access to the Administrator account password. Please uninstall and try again.

8 CD Installation Instructions: XP 1. Insert the CD provided by Elmhurst into your CD-ROM drive. The software should automatically begin the installation. Please note: Some PC s may have this option disabled and may require a manual install from the CD. If the CD does not begin to load the software automatically, click the START button, select RUN, type d:/setup.exe (where the d:/ equals the CD/DVD drive) then click OK. 2. To continue follow step 3 under Windows XP installation instructions. CD Installation Instructions: Windows Vista & Windows 7 1. Insert the CD provided by Elmhurst into your CD-ROM drive.
