Isolation: Many elderly are living alone or have families and support structure far away from their place of residence. Chronic disease management: Four out of five elderly suffer from at least one chronic disease, and this number will only be increasing. The opioid crisis is the largest drug crisis in modern American history More than 35,000 people died of opioid overdoses in 2015 An estimated 25 million Americans suffer daily from pain $79 billion in annual response cost and lost productivity Major causes Since the 1990s, opioids have been overprescribed as pain relievers; overprescription has become the norm Opioids are misconstrued as a miracle drug for pain relief, although they do not address the underlying causes of pain There is limited to no visibility for providers into previous/existing opioids prescribed to a patient Solution: Appriss Health has created software that enables providers to easily query and understand if a patient has been prescribed opioids, thus allowing for identification of addiction and informed treatment decisions.
