4 Introduction The Delta Front Panel is controlled by the Delta Monitor application. On Delta 1.5 servers the functionality is limited. Delta 2 adds a significant amount of additional functionality. Terminology Embedded Server This refers to the Operating system on the server. The current embedded servers are: Nano, Nano 4K and Duo II. 6 Text Colours Blue: The standard colour of all text on a Delta Master Server Cyan: The standard colour of all text on a Delta Slave Server Red: Indicates the Delta Server application has stopped running. It can also indicate lack of Genlock or AMD grouping if the Delta monitor application has been configured to monitor these states. Green: Indication that the server is in Service Mode. This mode is only available on Embedded Delta Servers. Others: Other colours are used for Alert mode. This mode flashes the display on certain actions and is intended to aid programming and debug Copyright 7thSense Design Ltd Page 6

7 Menu Structure The menu structure can be navigated using the left and right control keys. The menu structure is as follows: Note: Servers running Delta 1.5 are only capable of showing the pages marked with an orange border Main Line 1: Line 2: Line 3: Line 4: Server Name (Windows Identification). Can be overridden in Delta Monitor application to use Custom Name. M or S at end of line indicates Master/Slave when using custom name. IP Address (Cycles though machine IP Addresses) Cycles between current timeline frame rate and current filename Current Timeline. Playhead position. 8 Controls NOTE: The Controls page is only available to Delta servers configured as a Master Press the Enter Key (see Introduction section) to enter the controls page. Once in the control page, all keys have a function. Bottom Left: Steps back out of the control page into the main pages. Top Left: Rewinds current timeline to frame 0 Left: Stop playing (if necessary) and step back one frame Right: Stop playing (if necessary) and step forward one frame Top: Play Enter: Stop Bottom: Pause/Cue Copyright 7thSense Design Ltd Page 8

9 Load Show Press the Enter Key (see Introduction section) to enter the load show page. Once in the load show page, you will be presented with a list of all the show files on the Delta Server. A cursor on the left side of the list shows the currently selected show. The following keys will be functional in this menu: Bottom Left: Top: Bottom: Enter: Steps back out of the load show page into the main menu. Navigates the cursor up list of shows. 11 Audio VU Meter This page shows the audio playing on the current timeline. If audio is current playing a VU meter shows with a vertical line for each channel of audio. If no audio is currently in scope the display will read Silence. External Control Line 1: Current TCP Port for External control Line 2: Current UDP Port for External control Line 3: - Line 4: Displays the last external control message that was received. 12 IP and PC Name A List of the current server network IP addresses. The s or d at the end of each line indicates whether the network address is static or dynamic. Line 1: Line 2: Line 3: Line 4: IP address of first adapter IP address of second adapter IP address of third adapter PC Name (Windows configuration) Service Menu The Service Menu provides configuration functionality for the server. Once in the Service Menu, you will be presented with a list of all the functions available on that Delta Server. A cursor on the left side of the list indicates the currently selected function. 13 Restart Delta Selection of restart Delta results in the menu below. The Enter key is used to agree to restart the Delta server. You will be warned twice before the system does the restart. Pressing the Bottom Left key takes you out of this Reset EDIDs Selection of reset EDIDs results in the menu below. The Enter key is used to agree to the deleting of all forced EDID graphics configuration from the server. You will be warned twice before the reboots. 14 Reset IP Selection of reset IP results in the menu below. The Enter key is used to agree to reset the IP configuration of the server. The Factory default network IP address is a static IP of; Static IP: Subnet: You will be warned twice before the reboots. Pressing the BottomLeft key takes you out of this menu. Set IP Selection of Set IP firstly results in the menu below. Use the left/right keys to navigate through the numbers and the up/down keys to set the numbers. Press Enter once you have entered the IP address you wish to use. The TopLeft Key selects to use DHCP for the network. If you have not selected DHCP have entered an IP address, the next menu you see will ask you to specify a subnet address. As with the previous menu, the left/right keys are used to navigate through the numbers and the up/down keys to set the numbers. Press Enter once you have entered the Subnet you wish to use. You will be warned twice before the reboots. Pressing the Bottom Left key takes you out of this menu. Copyright 7thSense Design Ltd Page 14

15 Service Mode This function allows you to cycle in and out of service mode on an Embedded Server. See the Service Mode chapter for more information. Selection of Service Mode results in the menu below. The Enter key is used to agree to either put the server into or out of Service Mode. You will be warned twice before the system does the restart. Pressing the BottomLeft key takes you out of this menu. Service Mode Note: Service Mode is only available on Embedded Servers All Nano, Nano 4k and Duo II servers use a Windows Embedded Operating System. This offers the advantage of file write protection on loss of power. By default all embedded servers are shipped out of service mode. When an embedded server is not in service mode its menu is Blue/Cyan as per any normal Delta server. When not in service mode the Operating system disk is locked. Anything that is saved to the OS disks when not in service mode will be lost on reboot. There are some exceptions to this rule which are the following: Delta registry settings, including any changes made to preferences within Delta through Delta GUI, will hold after a reboot. The Delta/System area is read/write All major media locations on the OS disks such as: o C:\7thSense o C:\Audio o C:\Blends o C:\Colour o C:\Geometry o C:\Images o C:\Meshes o C:\Sequences o C:\Shows o C:\Splines o C:\Text Copyright 7thSense Design Ltd Page 15

16 When in Service Mode, the server OS disk is completely open and writeable with full Administrator access. If you have a need to install drivers or additional software, you need to be in server mode to do this. In this mode the Front Panel text is permanently green and rotates flashing the Service Mode text below. It is not advised to leave the server in this mode during normal operation. Once you have made any required changes to the server you should always switch back out of Service mode to Normal mode. Copyright 7thSense Design Ltd Page 16

17 Fitting and Configuring the Matrix Orbital This shows where to physically fit and how to configure the matrix orbital and run the cables Before fitting make sure the Server is not plugged into the mains and you are wearing and anti- static wrist strap Fitting the Matrix Orbital Remove the SSD and CD/DVD bays. To do this, unplug all cables plugged into the CD/DVD player and also the SSD and front USB circuit board. To remove the plug from the USB circuit board you need to slide out the caddies first to see it. To slide out the bays, push the blue holding clips away from the bays. The blue holding clips are located on the right side of the bays (looking from the rear). Push the bays out the front of the Server. Remove the connector from the USB circuit board then fully remove the bays. Remove the SSD and caddy by unscrewing the four screws underneath the Bay. Refit the SSD caddy to the newly delivered bay using the same four screws. Fit the matrix orbital panel to the front of the Nucleus server pillars using 4 screw fixings (m2.5 x 6 pan head). You will need to locate the 4 pin floppy drive power connector (supplied in the server cable loom), this will then fit into the rear left of the matrix orbital panel (looking from the rear). Plug in the connector for the USB circuit board. There should be a grey mini USB cable already plugged into the matrix orbital panel. It should now look like the image to the left Slide the bays back into the Server until the blue holding clips click into place. Plug the power and Sata cables back in for the SSD. 18 Run the grey mini USB cable with the Server cable loom and bring out through one of the slots under the fans. The grey cable should have a black USB to header cable attached to it which needs to be plugged into a USB header on the motherboard. Plug in the USB header plug into the blue USB header socket on the motherboard. The 2 black wires on the USB connector should be facing the front of the server. Configuring the Matrix Orbital Power up the PC and run the Delta Monitor installer. Go to Device manager and go to the properties of the LK204-7T-1U-USB device by right clicking and selecting update drivers, point to the location of the Matrix Orbital drivers folder, this is inside the Delta Monitor folder. Once it has loaded the drivers do the same for the USB Serial Port Device. Set up the Matrix Orbtial serial port to COM77. In the device manager, expand the Ports (COM & LPT) tree to show Matrix Orbital LK204-7T-1U-USB Driver (currently set to COM3). Right-click and select properties. Click on the Port Settings tab then select the Advanced button. Change the COM Port Number dropdown to COM77 and press the OK buttons. Copyright 7thSense Design Ltd Page 18

19 Run vcredist_x86 in the Delta Monitor folder Turn off Windows UAC if it is on and then reboot Control panel\ System & Security\ Action Center\ Change UserAccount settings (left column) Run Delta Monitor in the Delta Monitor folder it will start minimised in the start bar, right click and select Show. Delta Monitor should report the front panel connected. To configure the front panel, select Edit Preferences Service Menu Select the Program Default 7th Delta Startup Screen button. Press OK. Tick the Ignore Delta checkbox if using Delta version Click OK and Close Delta Monitor. Shut down the Server and disconnect from mains. Reconnect and boot into windows. The Matrix front panel should show 7thSense Delta media Server on power up. Copyright 7thSense Design Ltd Page 19
