1 EUDAT Summer School Trainers Christopher Ariyo Christopher (Chris) Ariyo is currently working at the CSC - IT Center for Science Ltd (CSC). He has been working in CSC for more that 17 years as capacity of System Specialist (HPC, Storage, Backup and Archiving), Storage Specialist (online storage, backup and archiving), Storage Team Manager and currently leading the EUDAT team in CSC as well as Service Area Manager (SAM) for Data Access and Re-use (B2ACCESS, B2DROP, B2FIND, B2SHARE & Data Type Registry). He was also involved with EUDAT1 in the capacity as the manager leading the team working on storage and started again as SAM 2016.

2 Sofiane Bendoukha Dr. Sofiane Bendoukha holds a PhD in computer science from the University of Hamburg, Germany. Over the last years he has been working on research areas related to process modeling, (scientific) workflow management systems and Grid/Cloud computing. Since January 2017, he has been working at the German Climate Computing Center (DKRZ) as Software engineer within the EUDAT project. Main activities concern usage scenarios and tool support for persistent identifiers (PIDs). Currently, with a development team, he is working on maintaining and supporting the development and integration of B2Handle, which enables easy creation, management and resolution of PIDs of data hosted on EUDAT CDI.

3 Claudio Cacciari Claudio Cacciari has been working since 2002 at Cineca, the biggest Italian supercomputing center, in the High Performance Computing area. In this context he matured experience in software integration, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) tools, Grid and Cloud environments. He is currently part of the Cineca's middleware group which manages tools for high performance data transfer, data visualization, analysis and long term preservation. He is collaborating to European projects in the field of data management, such as EuHIT, EUDAT2020 and SeaDataCloud. In particular, he is leading the EUDAT2020's service area dedicated to data preservation.

4 Shaun De Witt Experienced Systems Engineer/Systems Developer specialising in scalability, resilience, performance and interoperability of data heading towards the Exa Scale. Based on over 25 years experience both in industry and research, primarily on UNIX based systems using a variety of languages and CASE tools. Also experienced in algorithm development for many scientific and commercial applications including real time data analysis in massively parallel and grid environments.

5 Giuseppe Fiameni Giuseppe Fiameni holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Bologna and has been working in CINECA since 2004 when he joined the middleware and infrastructure group of the Super Computing Department. He has been contributing to several European projects, such as EMBRACE, DEISA, A-WARE, HBP and PRACE, maturing a strong experience in distributed systems, authentication and authorization mechanisms, computational and data resource management. He is currently leading the Middleware for HPC Services group of the SuperComputing Applications and Innovation Department of CINECA and involved into the EUDAT project as responsible of the collaboration with external EU infrastructures. Giuseppe is also member of the Human Brain Project and PhD student of Computer Engineering at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

6 Sara Garavelli Sara Garavelli is a Project Manager and Project Management Officer at Trust-IT Services, a UK SME specialised in analysing and communicating Information and Communication Technologies across Europe and globally. Sara is currently the Outreach Manager for the BlueBRIDGE EU-funded project, Building Research environments fostering Innovation, Decision-making, Governance, and Education for Blue Growth. Sara s expertise lies in analytical reporting, research and problem solving, primarily related to streamlining company internal procedures & informatics processes, and design of technological solutions (mainly ICT web-centric communication platforms & mobile apps) specifically for communities to promote their services and increase their revenue in an international market. Sara also serves as Communication Manager the EUDAT European Data Infrastructure, and HNSciCloud initiatives. Finally, Sara has a degree in Telecommunications engineering from the University of Parma, Italy, and has a Masters degree in logistics and organization for industry and commerce.

7 Marjan Grootveld Marjan Grootveld works at Data Archiving and Networked Services in The Netherlands (DANS, dans.knaw.nl/en/). DANS promotes sustained access to digital research information and encourages researchers to archive and reuse data Open when possible, Restricted when necessary. As senior policy consultant Marjan advises knowledge institutes and research funders on data management policy and practice. She is involved in the EC-funded EUDAT, OpenAIRE and EOSC Pilot projects. She also coaches research support staff in the training Essentials 4 Data Support, a collaboration of three national academic service providers (datasupport.researchdata.nl/en/). There is no progress without reuse.

8 Sarah Jones Sarah Jones is Associate Director of the Digital Curation Centre. She coordinates work on the DCC s Data Management Planning tool - DMPonline - and undertakes research on data policy and data management planning. She has written several articles and book chapters on these topics, and co-edited 'Delivering Research Data Management Services: fundamentals of good practice'. Sarah provides advisory services, training and consultancy via the DCC and is involved in the EC-funded FOSTER, OpenAIRE and EUDAT projects. Her work in a European context focuses primarily on training and data management planning to facilitate open science and compliance with Horizon 2020 requirements.

9 Giuseppe La Rocca Giuseppe has a master degree in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Catania (Italy). Prior to EGI, Giuseppe worked as technologist at the Italian National Institute for High Energy Physics (INFN). During this experience he worked in training and user support in several FP6, FP7 and H2020 projects co-funded by the European Commission. Since Dec he joined EGI.eu as Technical Outreach Expert and he is currently involved in several projects including HNSciCloud, ENVRIplus and EGI-Engage.

10 Yann Le Franc Dr. Yann Le Franc holds a PhD in Neuroscience with more than 10 years experience in academic research. He is expert in Semantic Web and Linked Data technologies applied to research data management solutions. In 2014, he created e-science Data Factory, a start-up company aiming at developing data management solutions for researchers and providing expertise for building data management plans. He is involved in the development of semantic web services within the EUDAT CDI, the designer of the annotation service and the co chairman of the EUDAT semantic working group.

11 Stefano Markidis Stefano Markidis is Assistant Professor in High Performance Computing at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology. He holds a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a MS from the Politecnico di Torino. Stefano is a recipient of the 2005 R&D100 award. He is author and coauthor of more than 90 articles in peer-reviewed publications. His research interests include parallel programming libraries and runtimes for high performance computing and I/O.

12 Brian Matthews Brian Matthews is group leader of the Data Science and Technology Group in the Scientific Computing Department of the Science and Technology Facilities Council of the United Kingdom, where he leads a research and development group looking at advanced techniques for handling and analysing scientific data. He has over 30 years experience in research and development in software engineering, data and metadata modelling, web technologies and distributed systems; in the last 10 years he has focussed on data management, preservation and sharing, especially within large-scale scientific programmes and facilities, working in European projects, recent ones including PanData, SCAPE, and SCIDIP-ES. He is currently taking a leading role as project manager of the EOSC-Pilot project which is paving the way for a common ecosystem to support open science within Europe and beyond. Brian has a PhD in Computing Science from the University of Glasgow, over 150 refereed publications, and is a Fellow of the British Computer Society.

13 Erik Schultes Erik Schultes is FAIR Data Scientific Projects Lead at the Dutch Techcentre for Life Sciences and at the Human Genetics Department at the LUMC. Erik s research interests focus on mapping the growth of biomedical knowledge and the development of tools that help biologists create, find, access, annotate, and share biomedical data.

14 Christine Staiger Christine Staiger is working as an advisor at SURFsara, the Dutch HPC centre. Sha has a background in bioinformatics and worked in the field of cancer research before joining SURFsara. In her daily working life she helps scientist to integrate data management and compute workflows. She is a trainer for EUDAT and is part of the ELIXIR work package 'Compute, Data access and exchange services.

15 Hannes Thiemann After his degree as geophysicist Hannes Thiemann joined the Deutsches Klimarechenzentrum (DKRZ) in After 25 years of experience in data management he is now the Deputy Department Head of the Data Management department. His particular ambition is the area of long-term archiving. He is responsible for the World Data Centre for Climate (WDCC) at DKRZ, including its implementation, certification and operation. He has been and is involved in many national and international projects, most current ones EUDAT and SeaDataCloud.

16 Mark Thompson Mark Thompson is a Postdoc in the Biosemantics group, which is part of the Human Genetics department of the Leiden University Medical Center. He obtained a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Amsterdam in 2012 and has expertise in hardware and software architecture (co-)design, computational aspects of knowledge discovery, data management, data modeling and data infrastructure. Previously working for the OpenPHACTS and RDConnect projects, now Mark is developing FAIR data infrastructure with DTL as part of the ODEX4All project and within the LUMC in the role of FAIR data steward. He has served as Linked Data expert/trainer at Bring Your Own Data (BYOD) events.

17 Yannis Tzitzikas Yannis Tzitzikas is Associate Professor of Information Systems in the Computer Science Dep. at University of Crete and Affiliated Researcher of the Information Systems Laboratory at FORTH-ICS (Greece), coordinator of the Information Analysis and Retrieval activity. His research focuses on Semantic Data Management and Exploratory Search. He has published more than 100 papers in refereed international conferences and journals, including prestigious journals and venues (e.g. ACM Transactions on the Web, VLDB Journal, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, JIIS, JDAPD, ISWC), he has received two best paper awards, and he actively participates as scientific responsible of FORTH to several EU (past and ongoing) projects.

18 Hans van Piggelen Hans van Piggelen has a degree in astronomy and medical imaging, and after some projects at national institutes, the technical challenges and innovative side of research data processing and storage proved to be his main interest. He currently works at SURFsara, the Dutch HPC centre, as a data consultant and together with his development team and colleagues he is building innovative services and infrastructure. For EUDAT2020, he is involved in user training, service documentation and data pilots.

19 Heinrich Widmann Heinrich Widmann is a scientific programmer at the German Climate Computing Center (DKRZ). He has long term experience in data management and data processing. Since the beginning of the project he works within EUDAT and is the product manager of the accomplished metadata catalogue and discovery service B2FIND. As a software engineer he is not only responsible for the development, maintenance and operational implementation of the service, but as well for the project plans, the user documentation and the presentation of the product at workshops and conferences.
