1 How to scan images and then import them into iphoto (Mac OS X) Using the Cyberview X application as a Stand alone scanning interface. Perform these steps after the software and hardware have been installed properly. 1. First Click on GO then on the Applications (fig 1a), once open locate the Cyberview X_?? (will vary by scanner model) folder and open it (fig 1b) Fig 1a Fig 1b (SF model used in this reference) Inside this folder you will see an icon labeled Cyberview X

2 double click on this icon to activate the software, once the Cyberview X icon appears on the dock, click and hold the mouse button down then click on OPTIONS then select KEEP IN DOCK, it will remain there and you can access the scanner directly from your dock in the future Scanning with Cyberview X STEP 1 Acquire Driver Put the filmstrip or slide in the scanner (Release lever(s) holding the film door closed, this opens the holder for insertion of media STEP 2 Scan Setting... Select the type of film to be scanned from the drop down menu inside the Cyberview Application, (by clicking on the small black down arrow beside the negative icon on the menu bar) Select the film brand and speed. EXAMPLE: If the film is KODAK 200 Negative, select Negative Film KODAK 200

3 For Slides select Positive, if the slides are Pre-1975 Kodachrome/Ektachrome select KODAK ED3 STEP 3 Pre-scanning (not required, if this step is skipped no image will appear in the Cyberview preview windows) Press the Prescan button to pre-scan the slide or filmstrip. Pre-scan STEP 4 To change the default scan resolution Click on the Menu bar on Scan - Preference, the default image resolution is 1800dpi. (Approx. 12MB per scan in 8-bit mode, 24 MB in 16-bit mode using TIF Format. Using JPG format does not support 16 bit color mode Note: Higher resolution settings will result in longer scanning times, and more hard disk space used when saving the files.

4 STEP 5 To Scan Click the small black down arrow beside the frame of film icon on the tool bar Choose Scan Current Frame to File to scan the current frame directly to the appointed folder. (You can browse and create a folder in the location of your choice) Scan to directory Selecting Image Name (Default is image can be changed to anything you would like) Select between TIF and JPG (TIF is the default uncompressed file format, JPG uses photo quality compression to make the files much smaller and compatible with more 3 rd party software programs) JPG Select GOOD, BETTER, BEST GOOD = Smallest file more compression BETTER = Uses less compression for slightly larger file BEST = Uses the least compression for the largest size file, which is still considerably smaller than when using the TIF format EXAMPLE: 1800 dpi scan in TIF is 12 MB (Megabytes), that same file using JPG BEST is just over 1 MB (Megabyte)

5 STEP 6 Exiting the software Once you have completed scanning your images to file, on the file menu click on Scan Exit to quit out of the Cyberview X stand alone application. How to import them into iphoto (Mac OS X) Once you have completed scanning your images per the How to Scan Film or Slide section of this guide you are ready to import your photos for editing, printing etc. Open the Apple iphoto application (located inside the Applications folder) Once it opens you will see this screen

6 Click on the menu bar on File Import to Library and in the Import Photos window browse to the location you saved your scanned images to in the How to Scan Film or Slide section of this guide. Default location [User name Pictures CyberviewX Images]

7 Select the image files you would like to import, once selected click on the Import button to import your images into iphoto you are now ready to edit, print, and share your images. Imported files shown Note: For assistance with iphoto Application please refer to the help files provided by Apple.
