In 5.1 Name or Uniformat In 6.0 shared parameter Add key values for non-family elements (walls, floors, roofs, etc) to the template so users don t have to recreate them. Leverage the Model for Construction Efficiency Progressive builders and construction managers are using Revit s building model to achieve major efficiencies. Construction Sequencing Isolate each construction activity as a phase Use view phase to illustrate development over time Quantity Takeoffs Control Costs at all levels Estimate costs as the design evolves by connecting exported data from the Revit model to external cost information. Planning & Logistics Plan the movement of people and materials Account for logistics costs with placeholder families and groups Strategies for Success Bring the contractor or CM into the process early Agree on a data sharing protocol so that CM can work with a copy of your model Be sure that all elements have assembly codes assigned Add assembly codes for host types to your template Create families to carry pricing information for non-building components such as site trailer and safety equipment, even personnel costs, and general conditions. Give them abstract annotation graphics.
