1 jquery - Other Selectors In jquery the selectors are defined inside the $(" ") jquery wrapper also you have to use single quotes jquery wrapper. There are different types of jquery selectors available they are: All Selector ( * ): * its an universal selector which is being used for selecting all the elements. $("*") It is used to select all the elements. Multiple Selector (e1, e2, e3): The Multiple element selector can also be used to for selecting multiple elements and more than one elements are separated by using commas (,). $("h1,div,p") the h1, div, and p elements.
2 :first selector : The :first selector is used for selecting the first element. This selector will only select one single element. The selector selects the first element of the group element. $("p:first") This will select the first p element :last selector : The :last selector is used for selecting the last element. This selector will only select the last single element. The selector selects the last element of the group element. $("p:last") This will select the last p element : even selector: Even selector select the even element based on the indexing and the indexing value starts from 0 (Zero). $("tr:even") This will select all even tr (table row) elements
3 :odd selector: Odd selector selects the odd element based on the indexing and the indexing value start from 0 (Zero). $("tr:odd") This will select all odd tr elements : first-child selector: The :first-child selector selects the first Child element with its specification. $("p:first-child") p (paragraph) elements that are the first child of their parent. :first-of-type selector: The :first-of-type selector matches have no other element with both the same parent and the same element name coming before it in the document tree. $("p:first-of-type") p are the first p element of their parent
4 :last-child selector: The :last-child can match more than one: and parent and it matches only one single last child element. $("p:last-child") p are the last child of their parent :last-of-type selector: The :last-of-type selector matches have no other element with the same parent and the same element name coming after it in the document tree. $("p:last-of-type") p are the last p element of their parent :nth-child(n) selector :nth- child(n) selector is strictly derived from the CSS specification, the value of n is "1-indexed", meaning that the counting starts from 1. And the certain value is selected in the selector.
5 $("p:nth-child(2)") This will select all p are the 2nd child of their parent :nth-last-child(n) selector : :nth-last-child(n) selector is strictly derived from the CSS specification, the value of n is "1-indexed", meaning that the counting starts from 1. And the selector selects the last child of the parent element. $("p:nth-last-child(2)") This will select all p are the 2nd child of their parent, counting from the last child :nth-of-type(n) selector : Selects all are the n th child of their parent in relation to siblings with the same element name.
