TinyDB and TASK Sensor Network in a Box SMARTER SENSORS IN SILICON 1
Overview What is TinyDB? A query processing system for extracting information from a network of TinyOS sensors. Requires no embedded C programming. Provides simple, SQL-like interface to specify the data you want to extract. Contains Sensor Network software and a Javabased Client Interface SMARTER SENSORS IN SILICON 2
Overview What is TASK? Tiny Application Sensor Kit Sensor Network in a box Break the barrier to entry to sensor network applications for non-computer scientists Provide an end-to-end software suite for rapid sensor network deployment Targetted towards actual users of sensor networks SMARTER SENSORS IN SILICON 3
Goals No mote coding Focus on low rate data collection applications, such as habitat monitoring Single integrated package with minimal configuration Easy integration with popular analysis tools Scaling: up to 100 nodes Longevity: 6 months at 1-2% duty cycle (Now) 12 months (in development) SMARTER SENSORS IN SILICON 4
Features of TinyDB Metadata Management Provides a metadata catalog High Level Queries Using a declarative query language Network Topology TinyDB manages the underlying radio network Multiple Queries Queries can have different sample rates Incremental Deployment via Query Sharing To expand your sensor network, simply download TinyDB code to new motes SMARTER SENSORS IN SILICON 5
