4 Description About This Guide Books24x7, a SkillSoft Company, is a leading provider of web-based digital technical and business reference content, containing thousands of digitized "best-in-class" reference books, research reports, documentation and articles. Books24x7's hosted web-based platform enables users to search, browse, read and collaborate with vast professional "Referenceware" libraries assembled through its relationships with the world's top IT and business publishers. This includes, in the technical publishing arena, imprints like Microsoft Press, Osborne/McGraw Hill, Artech House and many others. In the business field, prominent publishing partners include AMACOM, ASTD Press, Berrett-Koehler, Harvard Business School Publishing, John Wiley, MIT Press, Oxford University Press and others. Prominent customers that have adopted Books24x7 solutions include: Bank of America, Lockheed-Martin and many more. More information about Books24x7 can be found on the Web site at NetDimensions has now integrated Books24x7 with the Enterprise Knowledge Platform LMS. This means that Books24x7 products can be listed in catalogs on EKP and learners using EKP can access this resource directly. There is no need for a separate log in. This white paper details how to configure EKP for this integration. 5 Integrating Books24x7 with EKP Important Note Before you can use Books24x7 with EKP, you will need to obtain a site ID from Books24x7. This is a unique code that identifies a particular Books24x7 client for reporting and billing purposes Creating the Catalog Entry To create a catalog entry for Books24x7, go to Manage > Catalog Manager > Import Resource. On the screen titled Enter Resource Details, enter the text below in the Address field. ID> Substitute <Site ID> with your Books24x7 site ID. Under Run-Time Environment, select the HTTP-based protocol (AICC) option; then click Next. On the screen titled Enter Course Title, enter Books24x7 Referenceware in the Title field; then click Next. On the screen titled Enter Course ID, ensure that the checkbox labeled Show in Catalog is checked, then click Import. Users will be able to enroll for and launch the Books24x7 catalog entry in the usual way. Note: 1. Books24x7 might have provided you with a set of AICC course structure files. (This is a set of four files with extensions.au,.crs,.cst and.des respectively.) In this case, you can import these files using the Import AICC Course Structure feature instead of using the procedure described above. 2. Books24x7 might need to make changes to their firewall settings in order for the launch process to work correctly. Be sure to contact Books24x7 and let them know the IP address of your EKP server. 2

6 Tracking Note that Books24x7 does not send tracking information to EKP. However, Books24x7 will use information about users from EKP to compile their own reports, including users addresses and cost centers. 3
