If the device ought to work with a modem (Position 0 of the rotary switch) the configuration will be carried out over a terminal program (e. g. hyperterminal). With entering the command AT and pushing the Enter -key, the device should answer with OK. The operation with the MODCOM 32Bit software is only supported with switch position 1 and 2! 2.0 Displays and Control-elements SW3 LED6 LED5 LED3 LED1 LED2 LED4 SW1 SW2 X3 X X1/1 X1/ X2 RJ12 +24V 0V /552/553, 554/556/557 In this mode the device works as standard-router. The device has to be configurated over the ethernet interface (Telnet). The interface X6 () is no longer available Testconnection (Switch setting D) In this mode a connection to a remote station might be built up to test the telephone wire and the modem. The call number has to be entered before in the MODCOM 32Bit software under adjusting remote station (Control key F9). If the device is operated at a substation, substation yes has to be activated. Afterwards the settings have to be transferred to the device. This happens over the menu item initialising remote station (Control key F12) Delete ISDN MSN Number (Switch setting E) In this mode the preset ISDN MSN number will be deleted. That means the ISDN TA has no MSN number saved anymore and therefore accepts any call. But this is depending on the telephone connection and the telephone system respectively. Many telephone systems insist on a correct MSN number of their connected participants and only then admit a communication. The MSN number can only be adjusted over the MODCOM 32Bit or a terminal Load Factory setting (Switch setting F) In this mode all settings will be reset to factory settings. This might be necessary if the device cannot be addressed over the serial interface anymore. If, e. g. the RS 485 mode has been set afterwards no RS 4 Technical Data 4.1 Analog devices Voltage VDC 24 Current ma (24V) Protection class (IP) 20 Range of use Dry Surroundings Temperatures (Plant) 0 50 C Temperatures (Stock) C Humidity 0 95% not codensing Weight (g) Dimensions W x H x D x101x120 (mm) Types of Modulation V.21, V.22, V22bis, V.23, V.32, V.32bis, V.34 Error Correction MNP 2-4, V42 LAPM Data Compression V.42bis, MNP 5 Dialing Methods tone/pulse dialing Telephone Admission CTR 21 Interface 1 Interface 2 - MPI W 11 General Admissions EN :2001,EN :2001 Country of Usable Please look Country List Chapter 8 Manual Serie 5xx Profi bus Profi bus W 11
3 3.4 Switch setting 4 530/532/533, 534/536/537 In this mode the ethernet interface can be parameterized over the serial interface COM1 (X3) 510/512/513, 540/542/543, 550/552/553, 554/556/557 In this mode the 5xx works as TS-modem-adapter. The device can only communicate with the Simatic Manager / teleservice software over the interface 1 (COM1) or over the modem line. A MODCOM or standard modem operation is NOT possible! The device takes over the netrelated Baudrate from the settings of the particular PC adapter of the PG/PC. 3.5 Switch setting 5 In this mode the 540, 542, 550/552, 554/556 works as pure PC-adapter. The new operation mode can be accepted by pushing the reset key SW3. Possible differences of the operation mode selection will be described in detail in the several chapters. 3.0 Modem-Operation (Switch setting 0) In this mode the device works like a standard modem and might be configurated on particular adjustments. The 5xx has a pre-adjustment for the modem and the ISDN TA respectively, that normally don t have to be changed. If required a different configuration can be set over the enhanced commands AT:993 and AT:994 with the particular modem (AT)-commands. The serial interface can also be set over the enhanced commands AT:01, AT:02, AT:03 and AT: Control-Driver-Mode Switch setting 1 (without password-protection) In this mode the 5xx is not password-protected. The 5xx can only be used in connection with the MODCOM 32Bit software and the control-drivers. No recall is possible. 3.2 Control-Driver-Mode Switch setting 2 (with password-protection) In this mode the 5xx is password-protected. The 5xx can only be used in connection with the MODCOM 32Bit software and the control-drivers. The recall of the remote station ( 5xx) to the local station is possible. If the passwords of the device and Modcom 32Bit are different, the modem connection will be made but will be interrupted after password comparison. 3.3 Switch setting 3 530/532/533 In this mode the 53x works as standard-router. The device can only be configurated over interface 1 over a terminal program (see to this chapter Modem Operation (Switch Setting 0)). But the interface 1 is deactivated for the connection of serial end devices. Furthermore the serial settings (AT:02 and AT:04) of the interface 2 (Ethernet) of the 53x are blocked. Input has to be acknowledged with Error. 510/512/513, 540/542/543, 550/552/553, 554/556/557 In this mode the 5xx works as pure PC-adapter. The device takes over the net related Baudrate from the setting of the particular PC-adapter of the PG/PC. Communication with the Simatic Manager is now only possible over the interface 1 (COM1). A MODCOM or Modem Operation is NOT possible! 4 9

6 Connection and termination with RS 485 mode In the RS 485-mode a termination has to be made accordingly by load resistors on both farthest bus ends. Below in figure 4 is the example of circuit for the 5xx in the 4-wire-mode and can be seen in figure 5 as 2-wire-mode. 4 GSM Devices General SIM-Card 120 SIM Ant. The slot for the SIM-card is on the lower side of the device. By pushing of the countersunk yellow button next to the card reader, the insert will be pressed out and can be removed. The SIM-card has to be put into the insert. Afterwards the insert can be pushed back into the card reader. The data call has to be activated on the used SIM-card. The network operator will assign a seperate telephone number for the data call. The SIM-card must only be inserted and removed respectively when the device is not energized PIN-Number If the SIM-card is PIN protected, the PIN-number must be safed on the device. The PIN-number has 4 digits. Depending on operation mode and type of device there are different possibilities. The PIN-number should be transferred to the device before inserting the SIM-card. If the PIN-number of the SIM-card and the PIN-number that has been safed on the device differ, the SIMcard will be locked after three trials (per reset or tension-reset 1 trial). Now the SIM-card is PUK protected. You normally receive the PUK-code with the SIM-card. Then the SIM-card has to be inserted in a mobile phone and then the PUK-code has to be entered Diagnose The status of the GSM module can be seen by the blinking code of the red Error LED. 5x blinking SIM-card fault -SIM-card not inserted -SIM-card damaged -PIN-number wrong -PIN- or PUK number missing 6x blinking No GSM net available or not logged respectively -No reception (check antenna) -Net not available in this area Presently the termination in the RS wire-mode is not possible. During a reboot the initializing- and login-process into the GSM net can take approx. 60 seconds. During this time the blinking code stands for a not available GMS-net (6x blinking of the Error LED). In the Modcom Software the GSM status can be recalled constantly on devices that are connected to the PC. The last status on devices that are not connected to the PC can be queried after the establishment of the modem connexion. Is the GSM device being operated as standard modem, the GSM status can be queried on the basis of the AT-commands. The necessary commands can be found in chapter of the manual 5xx. 6 7
