3 INTRODUCTION The SNMP Manager is a plug-in for the PowerFrame TM Business software. Users can search and operate all SNMP devices in the LAN via this interface. Then, the ATS Monitor will automatically search and monitor these SNMP devices. SNMP MANAGER INSTALL, QUICK START AND UNINSTALL Supported OS: Windows 2000 Windows XP/2003/Vista/2008 (32-bit & x64-bit) Windows 7(32-bit & x64-bit) Software Installation Install the PowerFrame TM Business Software Software Quick Start To launch the SNMP Manager, choose SNMP Manager by right-clicking the mouse. Refer to Diagram 2-1. Diagram 2-1 Software Uninstall Users must uninstall the full PowerFrame software if they wish to uninstall the SNMP Manager. SNMP MANAGER GUI The GUI has four sections as marked in the image below: Diagram 3-1 A. Function menu offers complete tool-set for navigating and setting the GUI B. SNMP device list can list all SNMP devices and their current IP addresses C. Configuration area includes IP settings, online upgrade, password management, and static trap address D. Output window displays all messages for operations 2

4 SNMP Device List The default value in the window list would be current PC IP addresses. For example, if the IP address of the current PC is , it will display in the list when first enabling the SNMP Manager. Scan You may enter specific IP address and then click the Scan button to search. Add IP Address Click Add button and a window will pop up asking for the user to enter a specific IP address. Then, click the Apply button to add an IP address (Subnet). Refer to Diagram 3-2. Diagram 3-2 Delete IP Address Select an unnecessary IP address and click the Del button to remove it from the list. Reset If a restart is required for the device IP addresses, please select the SNMP reset enable and click on the Reset button, then confirm the login. Then, you can restart the device. Steps are as follows: Step 1: Select from the IP list the equipment needed to restart. At this point, SNMP reset enable will become selectable. Refer to Diagram 3-3. Diagram 3-3 3

5 Step 2: Check the SNMP reset enable option. Then, the Reset button will become available to click. Refer to Diagram 3-4. Diagram 3-4 Step 3: After clicking the Reset button, a pop-up screen will appear asking to confirm this operation. Refer to Diagram 3-5. Diagram 3-5 Step 4: If Yes is selected, you will be requested to log in first. If No is selected, the operation will stop. Refer to Diagram

6 Diagram 3-6 Step 5: You will be requested to log in to ensure this setup. Please enter the password and then click the Login button. The selected device will be restarted. NOTE: If you are changing the MAC address of the current device before rebooting and the current device is using DHCP to automatically obtain an IP address, then you will need to reboot and manually click on the Scan button to find your device again. NOTE: After selecting the IP from the IP list, the SNMP status will become 0 or 1. If the SNMP card has a program inside, the SNMP status becomes 1. If it does not have a program inside, the SNMP status becomes 0. If you never select an IP, the SNMP status will be the default ---. SNMP MANAGER FUNCTIONS MENU Login When you remotely login to access SNMP devices, it s necessary to verify your ID. The default password is Step 1: Select System >> Login Step 2: Enter the default password and then click the Login button. Or click Cancel to cancel login. Refer to Diagram 4-1. Diagram 4-1 5

7 Logout Clear all currently saved passwords. Quit Select Quit to exit the SNMP Manager. SETTINGS Basic Info Users can enter basic information manually such as addresses, notes and more for the SNMP card to easily distinguish the SNMP cards. Refer to Diagram 4-2. Diagram 4-2 IP Setting Part 1: Change MAC address Step 1: In the IP list, select the MAC address of the device you need to modify, then Change will become selectable. Refer to Diagram 4-3. Diagram 4-3 Step 2: Check the Change button, then enter the MAC address into the box. The Apply button will become selectable. Refer to Diagram

8 Diagram 4-4 Step 3: After modifying the MAC address, click the Apply button. The user is prompted to confirm the operation. Refer to Diagram 4-5. Diagram 4-5 Step 4: Confirm the operation. A prompt saying Operation success will appear. Refer to Diagram 4-6. Diagram Part 2: There are two methods to obtain an IP address: Automatically obtain an IP address (DHCP) Manually configure an IP address The system will, by default, automatically obtain IP addresses. If this kind of service is not provided in the LAN, the default IP will display as , Netmask as and default gateway as Refer to Diagram 4-7.

9 Diagram 4-7 ONLINE UPGRADE There are three methods upgrading your SNMP devices online?: Upgrade the selected devices: It will upgrade all SNMP devices listed in the window. Upgrade all non-upgraded devices: It will only upgrade SNMP devices which are not using the same version as the current SNMP device. Force to upgrade all devices: No matter what versions are being used for SNMP devices listed in the window list, it will upgrade them to the version used by the current SNMP device. Refer to Diagram 4-8. Diagram 4-8 Step 1: Click the Browse button to choose a program file. Refer to Diagram 4-9. Diagram 4-9 8

10 Step 2: Click the Upgrade button to execute the upgrade action. Refer to Diagram Diagram 4-10 Step 3: When the upgrade is complete, you may check the message in the output window. Refer to Diagram Diagram 4-11 NOTE: If an abnormal situation occurs during the upgrade process, the system will automatically restart the upgrade operation. If this interruption occurs five times, the system will automatically stop this operation. At this time, please check if the LAN is working properly or not. 9

11 SYSTEM MANAGER You can set up the SNMP protocol version and modify the password in the System manager column. Refer to Diagram Diagram 4-12 VERSION SETTING You can set up a SNMP protocol version for each of your SNMP devices. This program supports SNMP V3 protocol to monitor data. The default protocol version is V2. If selecting V3, please set up encryption. Then, click the Apply button to confirm this change. Select device: Choose a selected SNMP device from the window list to set up the SNMP protocol version. Select all: Choose all SNMP devices from the window list to set up the SNMP protocol version. PASSWORD You can modify your password for your SNMP device. Please enter the original password, new password and re-enter the new password. Then, click the Apply button to confirm this change. Select device: Choose a selected SNMP device from the window list to change the password setting. Select all: Choose all SNMP devices from the window list to change passwords. NOTE: The length of the password must be 8 to 15 digits. If choosing Select all, only one password is applied for all SNMP devices. 10

12 STATIC TRAP ADDRESS You may configure two static trap addresses. Refer to Diagram Diagram 4-13 NOTE: The SNMP device could provide two static trap addresses and eight dynamic trap addresses. The SNMP device will automatically load the IP address of the host machine, which can install monitoring software as a dynamic trap address. If there are over 10 minutes of inactivity from the dynamic trap address, the SNMP device will automatically release it to load a new dynamic trap.
