1 How to use Genetec Omnicast with Hikvision devices V1.0.0 ( )
2 1 Omnicast Overview This document explains how to configure and deploy Omnicast with Hikvision devices. Omnicast is an enterprise IP security solution that provides seamless management of digital video, audio and data across any IP network. Its open and distributed architecture offers the freedom to design a system that truly matches your needs. 2 Current test environment minimum requirements recommended requirements current test environment monitor 1280* * *1080 resolution OS Windows XP with Service Windows XP with Service win 7 64-bit Pack(SP)2 or later, Pack(SP)2 or later, Windows Vista, Win 7 or Win 8 64-bit Windows Vista, Win 7 or Win 8 64-bit CPU Intel Single Core 2.4GHz Intel Dual Core 2.0GHz Intel(R) processor processor core(tm)i GHz 3.60GHz System RAM 1GB 2GB 8GB Video card PCI Express, DirectX 9.0c PCI Express, DirectX 10.0 Standard VGA compliant with 128 MB RAM (Intel GMA 900 or better, NVIDIA 6600 or compliant with 256 MB RAM (NVIDIA GeForce 600 series or better) Graphics Adapter better, ATI X1300 or better) Network card 100Mbps 1Gbps 100Mbps Hard disk 500MB 500MB 127G space 3 Server Admin The Server Admin is the first application you use to configure Omnicast. It must be run locally on each PC where Omnicast server applications have been installed. It is used to: Install or update the Omnicast license (a separate license is required for every server running
3 either the Directory or the Archiver service). Configure the Omnicast server applications installed locally. Only users with access (Microsoft Windows username/password) to the server hosting the Omnicast services can run the Server Admin. When Omnicast Server is installed for the first time, a wizard appears to help you configure the Server Admin. The options that are not supported by your license are not shown on this page. 4 Config Tool The Config Tool is the primary companion of the Omnicast administrator. It takes care of all the security and configuration needs of the system. It allows security managers to program intelligent and sophisticated system behaviors to handle virtually any type of situation.
4 5 Basic Functions 5.1 Add and Delete Units Add a unit to Omnicast Go to Conifg Tool, select, and click Video Unit option. The Add a unit dialog box appears:

Record on the edge only: Allows Omnicast to retrieve video stored directly on the unit. This option is only available for units that support recording on the edge and your Omnicast
8 license must support Trickling. When this option is selected, archiving schedules are ignored, and the unit will appear in the Camera list of the Trickling tab. 2. Record audio: Record audio. 3. Redundant Archiving: Allows all standby Archivers to record simultaneously from this camera. This option is enabled only if your license supports redundant archiving. For details of these functions, please refer to the sections below Schedule overview To visualize the combined effect of all selected archiving schedules for a given day, click on the Schedule overview button. The following dialog appears. There are 6 schedules you can choose: 1. Specific Schedule 2. Yearly Schedule 3. Monthly Schedule 4. Weekly Schedule 5. Daily Schedule 6. Redundant archiving is a feature that can be turned on or off on a camera by camera basis Failover Archiver If you want to configure the failover function, your license must have the rights of failover Archiver function. When setup is finished, go to Gateway option and fill in the IP of the main Archiver. Select the camera and right click it, create a new Video unit. Select the Aux Archiver you set before, select Genetec protocol and click Add.
18 Return to the Config Tool panel, and select the Standby archivers option. You will see the failover list, the first is the main archiver and the other is the second archiver Redundant Archiver This function is also suitable for two archivers and above.
